About us
British Council je organizace založená ve Spojeném
království, která se zaměřuje na vzdělávání
a navazování mezinárodních kulturních vztahů.
Snažíme se toho dosáhnout díky pozitivnímu přístupu
a vzájemnému porozumění mezi občany Spojeného
království a ostatních zemí – vytváříme nové
příležitosti a naši spolupráci stavíme na vzájemné
důvěře. Působíme ve více než stovce zemí po celém
světě, v nichž podporujeme výuku anglického jazyka
a věnujeme se rozvoji umění, vědy, vzdělávání
a společnosti. Každý rok se nám daří oslovit přes
20 miliónů lidí osobně a dalších 500 miliónů lidí online

British Council byl založen roku 1934 jakožto
charitativní organizace, v České republice působíme
od roku 1945. Naše činnost se zde zaměřuje
zejména na výuku angličtiny a organizování
mezinárodně uznávaných jazykových, profesních
a univerzitních zkoušek.

Proč British Council
Why British Council
Dlouholeté zkušenosti na mezinárodní úrovni –
organizace British Council funguje již od roku 1934,
u nás byla první pobočka otevřena v roce 1945
v Praze, poté vznikala partnerská centra i v dalších
městech. British Council se stal prvním veřejným
zkouškovým centrem Cambridge English v České
republice.
Many years of international experience – British
Council was established in 1934 and the first office
in the Czech Republic opened in 1945 in Prague.
Later we launched other partner centres across the
country. We became the first open exam centre of
Cambridge English in the Czech Republic.
Profesionalita – naši zkoušející a zaměstnanci
jsou pravidelně monitorováni a školeni. Díky
jejich mnohaleté praxi jsme schopni zaručit
bezproblémový průběh zkoušek a férový výsledek.

zkoušky v devíti centrech po celé republice.
Ochrana a bezpečnost dětí – prosazujeme
bezpečnost dětí ve všech oblastech naší činnosti.

na Blízkém východě, v jižní a střední Asii či severní
Africe). Ročně tak investujeme přes 100 miliónů
liber na rozvoj programů v oblastech vzdělávání,

is also why organising exams for special needs
candidates is a given.
We support arts and science – British Council
is not just about language education, but we also
support science and the arts, and are partners in
many international projects.
Charity work – thanks to the support of the British
government and our work in language education
and examinations, we can use our resources to
help aid-eligible countries (in areas such as in the
Middle East, south and central Asia or North Africa).
Every year we invest over 100 million pounds in
developing programmes in education, science and
arts.

Projects that we
participate in
People for change – v rámci tohoto projektu
se British Council snaží dosáhnout udržitelných
změn v několika oblastech (občanská společnost,
vzdělávání, reforma veřejného sektoru, apod.).
Například jsme věnovali více než 18 miliónů liber
na projekt “Maternal and Newborn Health Research
and Advocacy Fund“ na zlepšení podmínek ve
zdravotnictví pro matku a dítě v Pákistánu.
People for change – as a part of this project the
British Council tries to achieve sustainable change
in several areas (civil society, education, public
sector reform, etc.). For example, we invested over
18 million pounds in the “Maternal and Newborn
Health Research and Advocacy Fund” to improve
health care conditions for mothers and their babies
in Pakistan.
Czech Kid – projekt podporující zavedení
multikulturní výchovy do škol, pro jehož účely byl
vytvořen internetový portál nabízející soubor oblastí
a metod, jak pracovat s tématem diverzity.
Czech Kid – a project that supports the
implementation of multicultural education in schools.
For this purpose we helped to develop a platform
that covers several areas and provides methods for
working with the subject of diversity.
FiveFilms4freedom – první celosvětový online
filmový festival, který představil 5 krátkých snímků
s LGBT tématikou (zabývající se menšinovou sexuální
či genderovou identitou).
FameLab – a competition for young scientists
that strives to introduce science to the public in an
entertaining way. Together with Cheltenham Festivals
we help to organize the final of the competition.
FiveFilms4freedom – the first online film festival
to screen 5 short movies with LGBT (lesbian, gay,
bisexual, transgender) themes.

FameLab – soutěž pro mladé vědce, která má za
cíl zpřístupnit vědu veřejnosti zábavnou formou.
Společně s Cheltenham Festivals organizujeme
mezinárodní finále této soutěže.

Nabídka benefitů je platná od 1. září 2016 do
31. srpna 2017 a ti, kdo v předchozím roce
zaregistrovali deset a více kandidátů, ji mohou začít
ihned využívat. Ostatní získají nárok na benefity
v okamžiku, kdy zaregistrují minimálně deset
kandidátů.
Kdy a jak obdržíte slíbené benefity?
Materiální benefity obdržíte nejpozději do jednoho
měsíce po skončení programu, tj. do 30. září 2017.
Ostatní benefity (např. sleva u ILC Czechoslovakia,
s.r.o., prezentace British Council nebo možnost
registrovat za zvýhodněné ceny) lze čerpat kdykoliv
v průběhu programu.

The benefits offer is valid from 1st September 2016
until 31st August 2017. Institutions that registered
at least ten students in the previous year can start
using it immediately, others will be entitled to it once
they register at least ten candidates.
When and how will I receive the benefits?
Material benefits will be delivered to you within
a month of the end of the programme by 30th
September 2017. The decision when to take up
other options (e.g. discount at ILC Czechoslovakia,
s.r.o., presentation at the British Council or special
fees) lies with you.

Children’s education is very important to us. This is
why we have decided to launch a new programme
in 2016/2017 to support children, who have the
potential and motivation to take an exam but lack
the financial resources to do so. Ten students will
