Literární soutěž Impac na téma " The Dreams That May Come True" Napsal uživatel Kloudová Štěpánka Veronika Pavlíčková One Sunny Afternoon Dreams. They are wonderful: they always take me away to my own world when I am down. And there, I can do whatever I want – because I have all the power in it… I am lying on a fresh green grass, watching snow-white clouds on the azure sky and thinking about my children’s ideas of the perfect world where everything goes like I want. OK, I admit that the dreams were more like fairy tales combined with sci-fi stories and later also romance. The instrument for realizing my dreams was usually a magic wand, a book of spells or just my finger. When I finally got it – 1/7 Literární soutěž Impac na téma " The Dreams That May Come True" Napsal uživatel Kloudová Štěpánka after promising the Lord that I would never exploit it or use it only for myself and that I would always help the indigents – I started to make my dreams come true: the latest type of Barbie doll, a plenty of my favourite ice-cream whenever I had the sweet tooth, the complete collection of Pokemon’s stickers, a house as big and as beautiful as the Neuschwanstein castle (which was depicted on my favourite puzzles right under my bed that time) and a summerhouse in the Caribbean sea, meeting my fairy prince on the white horse and gorgeous boy from the latest romantic blockbuster, a long black ultra-comfortable limousine or a little trendy lovely car just for me, ten months of holidays and 2 months of school… “Get up and come with me!” my friend Teri said to me. “I got an appetite for something tasty…shall we go for some ice cream?” For sure! The ice cream is one of the things which still I will never stop desire for – because it is quite realizable. 2/7 Literární soutěž Impac na téma " The Dreams That May Come True" Napsal uživatel Kloudová Štěpánka “Ok, I’m coming,” I reply back. “Maybe it’s time to stop dreaming and start living a life in this world,” I said to myself and stepped forward to my friend. When we came to the city centre and sat down in a garden of our favourite ice-cream parlour, we ordered the biggest sundae in the menu. The time was running pleasantly, we were chatting and watching people around us. “Can you see the cute boy over there?” I asked Teri. “Oh – do you mean Peter, or the boy who’s coming with him?” she asked back and chuckled a little. “Peter? You do know him?” “Uhmm, not so well like you do, but yes, I do,” she answered. 3/7 Literární soutěž Impac na téma " The Dreams That May Come True" Napsal uživatel Kloudová Štěpánka “Hi, my love, how’s your day? Hi Teri,” said the most gorgeous boy I have ever seen and kissed me on cheek. What the hell is going on? It seems to me like this young man is my boyfriend…but how did it comes? Am I dreaming? While I was getting over the first shock, they both sat next to us and the other man was introduced to us. His name was Stan and he was Peter’s team-mate from football. The boys were nice and we were sitting there for the next half an hour, when Teri remembered she had to go home. “Can you give me a lift?” she asked Peter as she saw he came in his car. “OK, why not? Then we can go home, too, shall we, darling?” 4/7 Literární soutěž Impac na téma " The Dreams That May Come True" Napsal uživatel Kloudová Štěpánka Still bit confused, I kept answering as little as it was necessary. We rode about 5 minutes from Teri’s to our house…wait: I said “house”? Do not I and my parents still live in a block of flats inside the city? So what are we doing in front of that big residence with such a large decorative garden with an embedded swimming pool and red glossy Mini Cooper on the driveway? “OK, so I’m going to change my clothes, please make some drink and pick up the post from mailbox, then wait for me on the sun deck. I’m there in a minute,” I said slowly to Peter and ran up the stairs. Well, this starts to be serious. What more should I expect? “Hmm, strawberry mojito – my favourite,” I smiled sweetly to Peter when I came to the garden – after a quick cold shower and few minutes of thinking. “I know you like it,” he answered and gave me a postcard. “Your parents are writing, they’re looking forward to your arrival.” 5/7 Literární soutěž Impac na téma " The Dreams That May Come True" Napsal uživatel Kloudová Štěpánka I looked at the card with pictures of wide palm parades and never-ending beaches with white sand, all bathing in gold Cuban sun… “Hi darling, how are you? We’re having great time, the weather is perfect, only one storm a few days ago hit the cost near from our house and strong wind drifted some garbage onto our roof…but don’t worry, we’re alright and looking forward you, we’ll be waiting in the hall of Havana airport. Kissing, Mum and Dad.” I took a think for a moment and looked up into the warm late-afternoon sun. Suddenly, the world around me started to whirl and I was losing the solid ground under my feet. Peter’s face and his arms catching me intuitively so I could not hit myself to the head when falling down on the ground were the last things I could remember… “Hey, Veru, what’s wrong? Get up, please, get up!!” 6/7 Literární soutěž Impac na téma " The Dreams That May Come True" Napsal uživatel Kloudová Štěpánka “Get up, we should go, it’s getting late…get up!” Teri – she was sitting next to me in the grass and tickling me on my ribs. Indeed, the sun was already behind the horizon and the air became colder. Oh no. I set up and realized the truth: that wonderful afternoon was just another of my dreamy dreams… 7/7
