These procedures should not be attempted by “do-it-yourselfers.” 1. Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the radio, then write down the radio station presets. 2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Remove the air duct (one clip). Remove the glove box (two bolts and two hooks). GLOVE BOX 2 HOOKS CLIP AIR DUCT 6. BOLTS 4. Remove the center panel lower cover (one self-tapping screw, right clip, left clip, and three retaining tabs). Remove the passenger’s dashboard lower cover (two clips and two pins). AII 39847 (0806) 3 of 9 www.collegehillshonda.com 7. Using a phillips screwdriver, reach through the center panel lower cover opening and remove two screws securing the center panel brackets. CENTER PANEL CENTER PANEL BRACKET 11. Using a felt-tip pen, mark the location of the FRESH AIR/RECIRCULATION and AIR VENT SELECT CABLES locations at the clamp. Reach through the glove box opening, and remove the FRESH AIR/ RECIRCULATION and AIR VENT SELECT CABLES from the clamps, then push down on the tabs and slide the cables from the link pins. Do not damage the pins and mounting seats of the clamps when removing the cables. 12. Using a felt-tip pen, mark the location of the TEMPERATURE CONTROL CABLE at the clamp. Remove the TEMPERATURE CONTROL CABLE from the clamp, then push down on the tab and slide the cable from the link pin. Do not damage the pin and mounting seat of the clamp when removing the cable. TAB Push. LINK FRESH AIR/RECIRCULATION SELECT CABLE (PURPLE) LINK CENTER PANEL LOWER COVER OPENING SCREWS 8. 9. Turn the FRESH AIR/RECIRCULATION SELECT KNOB to the FRESH position. Turn the TEMPERATURE CONTROL DIAL to COOL MAX position. 10. Turn the AIR VENT SELECT DIAL to UP position. TAB Push. TEMPERATURE CONTROL CABLE (BLUE) FRESH AIR/ RECIRCULATION SELECT CABLE (PURPLE) TAB Push. FELT-TIP PEN MARK Slide. CLAMP TEMPERATURE CONTROL DIAL Turn counterclockwise completely. Release the center panel (seven clips). Do not scratch the center panel, the instrument panel and the shift knob. 16. Remove the meter panel (six clips and four retaining tabs). Remove the meter panel. Do not damage the clips and the retaining tabs. 14. Disconnect the vehicle connectors, and the antenna connector from the audio head unit, and remove the center panel (on some models, it is necessary to release the vehicle harness clip from the hole in the center panel bracket). Note the routing of the cables. METER 2 RETAINING PANEL TABS 17. Remove the meter lower visor (four screws, five clips, and two retaining tabs). Do not damage the clips and the retaining tabs. 5 CLIPS 15. AII 39847 (0806) 5 of 9 www.collegehillshonda.com Installing the adapter unit and routing the harness 18. Remove the meter visor (five screws and four retaining tabs). Do not damage the clips and the retaining tabs. 4 RETAINING TABS 20. Remove one screw from the adapter unit and tighten it at the indicated position. METER VISOR SCREW 5 SCREWS ADAPTER UNIT 21. Secure the adapter bracket B to the adapter unit with one 5 x 8 mm bolt. 19. Remove the meter (two screws and disconnect the vehicle connectors). Attach masking tape to the adapter unit harness at the indicted position. 24. Attach masking tape to the Music Link harness at the indicated position. MASKING TAPE 450 mm MASKING TAPE 600 mm ADAPTER UNIT HARNESS MUSIC LINK HARNESS ADAPTER UNIT 23. Bundle the excess and secure the adapter unit harness to the adapter bracket B with one wire tie with clip at the masking tape attached in step 22 as shown. 25. Bring the adapter unit close to the vehicle bracket and route the adapter unit harness through the opening in the audio panel. ADAPTER UNIT HARNESS Bundle the excess. Install the adapter unit to the vehicle bracket with one 5 mm plain washer and one 5 x 8 mm bolt as shown. 28. Route the Music Link harness along the vehicle harness and secure it to the vehicle harness with one wire tie. VEHICLE BRACKET ADPTER UNIT WIRE TIE VEHICLE HARNESS SCREW Bring into contact. 5 mm PLAIN WASHER Tightening point. MUSIC LINK HARNESS AUDIO PANEL OPENING VEHICLE BRACKET 5 mm PLAIN WASHER 29. Route the Music Link harness along the vehicle harness to the glove box opening. 5 x 8 mm BOLT VEHICLE HARNESS 27. Connect the Music Link harness connector to the adapter unit and route it through the upper side of the vehicle bracket to the audio panel opening. Secure the Music Link harness to the vehicle harness with one wire tie. 33. Check that all wire harness are routed properly and all connectors are plugged in. 31. Bundle the excess Music Link harness and secure the Music Link harness to the vehicle harness with one wire tie as shown. 34. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. MASKING TAPE Attached in step 24. MUSIC LINK HARNESS Bundle the excess. VEHICLE MUSIC HARNESS LINK HARNESS VEHICLE CLIP WIRE TIE VEHICLE CLIP 35. Reinstall all removed parts. 36. Enter the customer’s radio anti-theft code, and reset the radio station presets, and the clock. 37. Turn the radio unit ON. Set mode to Honda Music Link by pressing “AUX” until display “CDC” or “CD4” is shown on the radio display. Check that the mode changes to the CD changer mode properly (“CDC” or “CD4” is shown on the radio display). 38. Check the A/C operation. WIRE TIE VEHICLE HARNESS WIRE TIE 32. Connect the adapter unit connector to the audio head unit and reinstall the center panel.
