The fight for the titul of the World Champion in fire sport starts
The Czech republic, Ostrava – On Wednesday 17th August the races of the World
Championship in fire sport start.
During next 4 days in 4 sport disciplines 6 teams will fight in categories Junior
Women, 9 teams in category Junior Men, 14 teams in caterogy Men and 8 teams in
category Women.
2 sportsgrounds, 428 members of the sport teams, 150 referees and more than 100
volunteers and organisers are prepared for the beginning of the Championship and
regular running of the Championship. The mascot of the Championship is the Ostrava
horse BO.
„The most numerous group is the Czech team. As the organising country we have the right to
have 2 teams in each category. The Czech Junior Men team and the Belarus Junior women
team vindicate the Champion titul from the Champioship in Petersburg, Russia . The Russian
Women and also Men team vindicate the Champion titul from the championship in Grodno,
Belarus“ said Monika Němečková, deputy of SH ČMS.
The race will start on Wednesday morning and will be all day near the Olympic Rio Park in
Ostrava. The discipline is the ascent to IV Floor of the tower. „We wanted to bring the fire
sport nearer to the public so we placed this discipline to the tight proximity of the Rio park in
the centre of Ostrava“, proclaimed Zdeněk Nytra, the director HZS MSK. The tower is 12,5 m
high. Near the tower there are the tribunes where you can watch the races.
The final runs of the championship and the announcing of the results of the first day will be
part of the Opening ceremony in the evening.
From Thursday to Saturday 20th August 2016 the Championship will move to the Municipal
Stadium in Ostrava Vítkovice where other three disciplines will be held. On Thursday
Running 100 m, on Friday 4x100 m Running relay and finally on Saturday fire attack that is
widely favourite among public.
The Closing ceremony will finish the sport marathon of the four days. The idea comes from
the base of the everyday work of the professional and volunteer firemen aiming at the
qualified intervention and fast help.
„ The total cost of the Championship is supposed to be 6,5 million Czech crowns. The
greatest amount of finacial help came from MŠMT, HZS ČR, MSK, The city of Ostrava and
the general partner TATRA Kopřivnice“, told Zdeněk Nytra.
All the sport fans and public are invited to support home and foreign sportsmen.
