Climate Control V-5 Variable Displacement Compressors Description: The first volume-produced variable displacement compressor, the five-piston V-5 automatically adjusts displacement to match the vehicle’s air conditioning demand. A control valve in the V-5’s rear head senses evaporator load and automatically changes displacement to match that load. Typical Application: The V-5 is readily adaptable to numerous OEM applications, both in passenger vehicles and trucks. It is currently applied to both Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV) and Orifice Tube (OT) systems.
