Clarinet Congres 2014
D ear clarinettists. Please except our invitation for the upcoming „First Czech clarinet congress“, that will take place 8th – 14th November 2014 in Ostrava. The event is organized by the „Czech clarinet association” newly founded in June 2014, to develop and support activities connected to the interpretation of clarinet music and to all instruments of the clarinet family. Not only have we prepared clarinet master classes, lectures in theory and instrument exhibitions, but also numerous recitals and chamber music concerts, presenting the most renowned clarinet interprets from all over the world, that will be performing in the cultural centres of the city of OSTRAVA (Faculty of Fine Arts of the University in Ostrava, Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava, Czech Radio Recording Studio 1, Philharmonic hall Ostrava, Cooltour, etc.) during the whole week. Among other outstanding artists Charles Neidich (New York, professor of the famous Juilliard School), Florent Heau (Paris), Harri Mäki (Helsinki, Professor of Sibelius Academy), Kyrill Rybakov (Moscow), or Gabor Varga (Budapest). In addition to the solo recitals and chamber concerts from the field of “classical music”, the audience will have the possibility to enjoy concerts presenting clarinet in a wide range of genres. For instance concert of The Brno Radio Orchestra of Folk Instruments /BROLN/ with soloists, Vlastík Šmída Jazz trio with guests, or an unique crossover project of Epoque Quartet and Irvin Venyš /Irvin – Epoque/. One of the highlights of the congress will definitely be the performance of an excellent Czech clarinettist Karel Dohnal in Harlequin by K. Stockhausen, successful all over the world and suitable for all age categories. The Grand finale of the congress, the Final concert 14th November 2014 (15:00 h.), with Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava under the baton of a great conductor and clarinet player Valentin Urjupin, promises a thrilling end to what can be called a “clarinet feast”. participating institutions: Faculty of Fine Arts of the University in Ostrava, Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava, ZUŠ Ostrava-Moravská Ostrava, Sokolská třída 15, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava, Cooltour, MOVE fest Ostrava, Czech Radio Ostrava.
