Shopping is for many people favourite hobby and some people hate this. It isn't easy to do shopping nowadays in Prague, because there are many people everywhere. Everything is expensive and it is difficult to choose. • You can go to the shopping centre, department store, supermarket, specialized shop, street market, boutique, second hand. • We go to shop almost every day to buy some food. During the week we usually shop in small local shops which are in our neighbourhood mainly in grocery store. But we also go to bakery where you can buy bread, rolls, cookies, and cakes. At a butcher shop you can buy meat and sausages. There is also a florist where you can buy flowers and plants. And there is also a greengrocer where you can buy vegetables and fruit. Shopping (nakupování) • Once a week we do big shopping, we go by car to some supermarket, for example Tesco, Billa, Albert and so on. At the supermarket you can buy many things cheaper, especially when they have special offer. • There are many shopping centres in the Prague Such as Chodov, Arkády or Letňany. Shopping centre is a very large building, usually one or more floors with many smaller shops inside it. Many shopping centres sell mainly one thing - clothing. The advantage is that you have many shops on one place. But on the weekends there are many people, families with the children and couples walking around. Usually there is one large supermarket. In shopping centre you can find many specialized shop with electronic or jewellery. The shops with electronics are for example Datart or Electroworld, in which people can buy computers, radios, photo cameras. In shopping centre there are boutique, in which can you buy especially expensive goods. Sometimes you pay only for the brand. If you aren't rich, you can't go to shops like Guess, Giorgio Armani or Calvin Klein. Shopping (nakupování) • My favourite shopping centre is on Chodov. I have this centre near by my house and I can find there shops, which I like. I like going to shop New Yorker, Luxor or Zara. I don't like shopping so much, because I am choosy and I don't like a lot of people in the shops. Worst time for the shopping is before the Christmas because every people want to buy presents for their families and relatives. • One of places, where you can go shopping is street market. This way of shopping is comfortable and cheap. Sometimes you can visit farm markets in Prague, where you find fresh vegetables and fruit, sheep cheese and many other specialists import by real farmers from the country. Marketers sell there also old clothes or historically pottery for good price. This we called flea-market. Shopping (nakupování) • • • • • • • Now I would like to say something about fashion. People have different attitudes to fashion. Some people don't care what they wear, others, especially women, are very choosy and particular about what to wear. They spend a lot of money on clothes. Some people want to belong to a specific group of people, so they wear typical clothes, for example - rockers, Emos or punks. Some occasion present the opportunity to dress up. If you go to the theatre, you should to dress up. The clothes can be divided according to profession. So, the cook has different clothes than manager, or doctor wear something different than fireman. Clothes can be made of various materials. Natural materials are cotton, wool, and leather. Cloth can has a various colours and patterns - they can be flowered, striped, dotted, geometric and so on. When I go to the buying the clothes, I choose according to price, seasons and size. Some people, who don't have to time to go shopping, choose products from catalogues or the Internet. They just fill in the order form, specify the type, title, colour or size and then mail or e-mail their order to the firm. It is possibly to buy clothes, radios, CD players and also books. FRÁZE Důležité fráze • • • • • • • • • • • • • I go shopping every day. Chodím každý den nakupovat. There will be a lot of people there at this time. V tuto dobu tam bude hodně lidí. Shall I také them out of the bag? Mám je vyndat z tašky? Have a look at this list. Podívej se na tento seznam. That´s all right. To je v pořádku. How much coffee shall I buy? Kolik kávy mám koupit? A quarter of a pound will do. Čtvrt libry bude stačit. Half a kilo or three quarters of a kilo? Půl kila nebo tři čtvrtě kila? There wont be many people there at this time. V tuhle dobu tam nebude moc lidí. Shall we go to the supermarket? Půjdeme do samoobsluhy? You´ll get it at the supermarket. Dostanete to v samoobsluze. There´s not much time. Máme málo času. Je málo času. Time is money. Čas jsou peníze.
