A selection of 200 invertebrate taxa, routinely encountered on bottom-trawl
surveys, are presented here to assist with their rapid identification while at-sea.
General information on the surveys is available from Archambault et al. 2013.
http:/ / www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/ Library/ 347920.pdf.
The principal taxonomic reference for the region is: BruneI, P., Bossé, L. et
Lamarche, G. 1998. Catalogue des Invertébrés marins de l'estuaire et du golfe
du Saint-Laurent. Publ. spéc. can. sci. halieut. aquat. 126. 405 p. (available
here: www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/Library/223686.pdf‎ )
Taxonomic names, and additional species images, may be consulted on
CaRMS, the Canadian portal of WoRMS (World Register of Marine Species).
http://www.marinespecies.org/carms
Datasets of species occurrences are available on OBIS (Ocean Biogeographic
Information System) http://www.iobis.org, GBIF (Global Biodiversity
Information Facility) http://www.gbif.org, and may also be consulted on the
OBIS Canada IPT http://ipt.iobis.org/obiscanada/
