SOME BASIC FACTS ABOUT THE UK
The UK is located in the north-west of Europe.
Besides Great Britain and Northern Ireland there are more
than 800 islands.
The population of this country is about 63,181,775 people.
The capital city is London.
The currency is pound sterling (GBP) = 100 pence.
The highest mountain is Ben Nevis (1,342 m) in Scotland.
The United Kingdom consists of four parts:

SCOTLAND
WALES
NORTHERN IRELAND

The capital of the UK lies on the river Thames.
