Dear Ambassador Kiselev,
We are grateful to you and to Mrs. Anna, for having invited us to this
fairewell gathering at the conlusion of your mission as Ambassador of the Russian
Federation to the Czech Republic. Thinking that today is your turn to tell us
„arrivederci“, I feel indeed unconfortable. However, permit me to express to you,
on behalf of the colleagues of the Diplomatic Corps, our common sentiments of
sincere esteem and friendship and our appreciation for your cordial and pleasant
attitude and your collaboration with us. You have been a good colleague and a
skilled diplomat, but also a friend and an outstanding man, gifted with many
human and social qualities, a person whose kindness, professional preparation and
competence we all have admired. I also would like to address a word of warm
greetings and thanks to your dear wife, Mrs. Anna, who has been at your side,
giving you great support in your diplomatic functions, and whose lovely and
graceful presence in the diplomatic community has been highly appreciate. With
her charm and polite manners she has contributed in a significant way to the
amiable atmosphere which exist in the diplomatic family. Thank you, Mrs. Anna!
Dear Ambassador Sergey, going through your curriculum vitae, I notice that
you were born in Moscow, this beatiful huge city, which is the major political,
economic, cultural and scientific centre of Russia and Eastern Europe; a city which
is visited during any season and any hour of the day by many tourists who remain
fascinated by its many attractions. You graduated from the State Institute of
International Relations and attended the training courses of the Diplomatic
Accademy. Afterwards you followed the customary stages of the diplomatic

career, giving faithful service to your country for more that 40 years. You have
covered important posts in the Departments of South, South-East Asia,
Administration and Security, as well as Ambassador at large, Director of the
General Secretariat Department, member of the collegium of Russian Federation.
Abroad you have served in the diplomatic mission in Burma, Ambassador in
Seychelles, Singapore and finally from August 2010 Ambassador in the Czech
Repubblic.
During your five and half years in Prague, both of you, Sergey and Anna,
have drawn the admiration of the colleagues and of many Czech people, and your
departure certainly will be a loss for us. In carrying out your diplomatic role with a
high sense of responsibility, even in very challenging moments, you never have
lost your peace of mind and heart, and you have been able to maintain always your
friendly attitude toward your collegueas, keep the good relations existing between
Russia and the Czech Republic, and enhance the cooperation between the two
countries in many fields of common interests. Finally, I wish to mention that you
also have been an excellent host; in your residence we never missed a good taste of
vodka, the traditional superalcoholik russian drink!
Dear Sergey and Mrs. Anna, as you prepare to leave Prague, on behalf of the
Dipoomatic Corps, I wish you evey happyness on your return to Moscow. May
God bless you and keep you save. Arrivederci!
And now, dear Sergey and Anna, on behalf of the colleagues of the
Diplomatic Corps, I have the pleasure to deliver to you this bouquet of flowers,
and the customary silver tray, as a sign of our esteem and friendship and as a
souvenir of your mission in this country.

Ваше превосходительство, господин посол, дамы и господа, уважаемые
гости,
Your Excellency Ambassador Kiselev, ladies and gentlemen, dear guests,
Vaše Excelence, vážený pane velvyslance, dámy a pánové, milí hosté,
dovolte mi, abych vás všechny, a hlavně pana velvyslance Kiseleva, srdečně
pozdravil zde na půdě Ruské federace, kde jsem byl po dlouhou řadu let svého
působení v Senátu Parlamentu České republiky častým hostem. Mohu vzpomínat
nejen na řadu zajímavých osobností ruského zastupitelského úřadu v Praze v čele s
pány velvyslanci Fedotovem a Kiselevem, které jsem měl tu čest poznat, ale i na
proměny česko-ruských vztahů za ty roky.
Mnohokrát jsem za tu dobu navštívil Ruskou federaci a vždy jsem usiloval o
co nejefektivnější hospodářskou a kulturní spolupráci mezi oběma zeměmi. Věcná
bilaterální jednání byla pro mne vždy prioritou před uspěchanými summity.
Historické zkušenosti - ty špatné i dobré - by nám měly vždy pomáhat k
tomu, abychom udělali vše, aby v našich zemích vládla demokracie, mír a
prosperita. Nové bezpečnostní hrozby v čele s nebezpečím mezinárodního
terorismu jsou dnes jedněmi z nejvýraznějších překážek na této cestě. Jsem však
optimista a věřím, že se je společně podaří zvládnout a překonat.
Česká republika i Ruská federace mají zákonitě v některých pohledech na
svůj další vývoj různé priority a různá stanoviska a představy o řešení problémů.
Přesto v naší další spolupráci nevidím velký problém, protože existuje na druhé
straně stále velice mnoho styčných ploch pro efektivní spolupráci, která bude
prospěšná oběma zemím. Ale vždy to musí být bez ohledu na velikost zemí
spolupráce dvou suverénních států.

Pane velvyslanče, měl jsem možnost hned po vašem nástupu, vás pozvat na
ekonomickou konferenci do Senátu. Od té doby se také datují naše velmi korektní
osobní vztahy. Mám vyřídit pozdravy také od mé manželky a přeji vám i vaší
manželce hodně úspěchů v další práci, která vás čeká po odjezdu.
Přeji všem příjemný den v této společnosti a děkuji vám za pozornost...

In my turn and on behalf of Anna, my wife, colleague, assistant, without
whose support there would not be such Ambassador of the Russian Federation as
Sergey Kiselev, I would like to thank you, our Czech friends and partners, our
friends and colleagues in the splendid diplomatic corps of Prague for kind words,
cooperation, mutual understanding and friendship.
Za sebe a jménem Anny, mé manželky, kolegyně, poradkyně, bez jejíž
podpory by neexistoval velvyslanec Ruské federace Sergej Kiseljov, bych rád
poděkoval vám, našim českým přátelům a partnerům, našim přátelům a kolegům
ze skvělého pražského diplomatického sboru za dobrá slova, spolupráci, vzájemné
porozumění a přátelství.
It was you who made our stay in this wonderful country, in amazingly
beautiful Prague even more fascinating.

Byli jste to vy, kdo udělal náš pobyt v této překrásné zemi, v neskutečně
krásné Praze ještě víc báječným.
And of course, I am grateful to all my Russian colleagues. Let us agree that
today we also celebrate the Russian Diplomat’s Day, which we have been
traditionally enjoying together for many years here in Prague, on the 10 th of
February
Můj vděk samozřejmě patří i našim ruským spolupracovníkům. Souhlasme s
tím, že dnes zároveň slavíme Den diplomatů Ruské federace, který již tradičně
dlouhá léta jsme slavili společně tady v Praze desátého února.
During 64 months of our stay in the Czech Republic many things have
happened. There were good things and not so good ones, but the relations between
our countries have been developing and I would say have become deeper because
no matter what, we were moving closer to the truth. We see the perspectives of the
Russian-Czech relations, and their potential is huge.
Během těch šedesáti čtyř měsíců našeho pobytu v České republice se událo
hodně věcí. Něco bylo dobré, něco sice né, ale vztahy mezi našimi zeměmi se
rozvíjely, a řekl bych, že se prohlubovaly, jelikož jsme se nehledě na nic směrovali
k pravdě. Vidíme perspektivy rusko-českých vztahů, a jejich potenciál je obrovský.
Today it is not everything under control, maybe. At least, I mean our
feelings. Anna and me, we came to the Czech Republic with love and we are
leaving with even greater love for this beautiful country, for the people who live
here.

Dnes asi není všechno pod kontrolou. Přinejmenším mám na mysli naše city.
Přijeli jsme s Annou do České republiky s láskou a odjíždíme s ještě větší láskou
k této překrásné zemi a lidem, kteří tu žijí.
I would like to wish you all success and happiness. Be yourselves, remember
about the interests of your country. But do not forget that only mutual respect of
our interests, our cooperative partnership will let us gain the main goal – as I use to
say – that everything should be good.
Chci vám všem popřát hodně úspěchů, štěstí, zůstaňte sami sebou, pamatujte
na zájmy své země. Ale nezapomínejte, že pouze vzájemným respektováním
našich zájmů, naší společnou partnerskou prací dokážeme splnit hlavní cíl – jak
vždy říkám – aby všechno bylo dobře.
Long I live, including time in this wonderful profession, and within several
weeks I’ll be a free man. And today even with a stronger confidence I would like
to repeat once again that truth and love prevail.
Dlouho žiju, a to i v této skvělé profesi, během několika týdnů již budu
volný člověk. A dnes bych s ještě silnější jistotou chtěl zopakovat ještě jednou, že
pravda a láska vítězí.
