Seminar ASR '2013 “Instruments and Control” © 2013, VŠB-TUO, Ostrava, ISBN 978-80-248-2967-8 Preface Annual „Seminář ASŘ“ (Seminary of Automatic Control Systems), organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering , Department of Control Systems and Instrumentation in collaboration with the Committee of Applied Cybernetics and Informatics – KAKI Ostrava, achieved on this year 2013, was held thirty-seven times. The seminaries of ASR demonstrate as important Workshops every year their fixed position at the large offer of science-research actions with international range and with a reputable special even social level. The workshop „Seminary ASR“ was distinctly signed on this times as an effective platform for meeting teachers and Ph.D. students from the VŠB Technical University of Ostrava with scientists and students from other universities of Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and other countries, even with experts from industrial companies and other institutions. In 2013 the Seminary of ASR is split into two parts. The first one is a student competition – STOČ 2013 as the 18th Student Science Workshop which takes place at the Tomáš Baťa University of Zlín and the second part is a traditional XXXVIIth Seminary of ASR “Instruments & Control” as a Ph.D. seminary and student competition. The goal of Seminary of ASR´13 "Instruments and Control" is to present results of R&D projects, reciprocal interchange of participant's information, experiences and retrieval of possibilities for cooperation on common projects, mainly between Ph.D. students. The other goal of this year's Seminary of ASR is to introduce the professional public, experts and scientific workers from universities, research institutions, industry, design and supply firms with the most up-to-date knowledge from the areas of automation, measuring, diagnostics and control systems, program systems for control, SCADA/HMI systems, CAD, and other areas, and to provide an exchange of experience. The main topics of Seminary ASR´2013 “Instruments and Control” there are: The methods and algorithms of automatic control Modeling and simulation of control elements and systems Measuring and diagnostic systems The means of automation devices Program support of control and diagnostic systems Applied informatics (Computer Science) The new series of international conferences, known as International Carpathian Control Conference (ICCC), were established in the year 2000 in collaboration with three partners which are technical universities such as TU Košice (faculty of BERG), AGH Krakow (faculty of FMIR) and VŠB-TU Ostrava (faculties of FME and MGF). KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are quantifiable values that reflect the critical success factors of operation, enterprises and companies. The selection of these indicators depends on the type of the company and/or a system. An example of the technological process in finding the optimal mode, KPI respectively, is the disintegration of the rock process, where the theoretical starting point is the energy theory for the disintegration process, which is based on the instantaneous speed of the indentor progress, the specific amount of work during the disintegration process (the amount of energy used for rock disintegration per volume unit) depending on the downforce. Finding the optimum on an experimental stand using the evolutionary planning method and considering the MISO type of model is, for example, enabled by using the values measured during the process of rock disintegration - the KPIs. Keywords: planned experiment, modeling, process optimization, disintegration energy, KPI, MISO 1 Used a mathematical model of the system indentor – rock In general, this system has q inputs and outputs, which can be described in the operating point and its vicinity equations. x1 t Ax t But , (1) yt Cxt , (2) where xt , ut , yt are the state variables, input and output, A, B, C are matrices with appropriate dimensions. The starting point for the identification of the system are measured values, that means, inputs and outputs. Consequently in a well-defined conditions "ideal" experiments can be designed assumptions tested and compared methods [FUTÓ, J., IVANIČOVÁ, L., KREPELKA, F., 2010, HANZELOVÁ, M., FLOREKOVÁ, Ľ. 2004, MALINDŽÁKOVÁ, M., 2009, HANZELOVÁ, M., FLOREKOVÁ, Ľ., BENKOVÁ, M., 2002]. 5 Figure 1 – Diagram of the indentor-rock Fig. 1 shows the diagram of a simple dynamic system indentor-rock, on which there are two crucial input variables downforce and speed. Measurable (calculated) output of this system is monitored indicator - KPI. The classic way of determining the optimum system for the indentor-rock is the use of the energy theory disintegration of rocks w or incapacitation isolating tool . It is assumed that to determine the optimum such systems it is possible to use a non-standard method, for example measuring acoustic manifestations temperature in the technological process (acoustic energy signal - E) [KUMIČÁKOVÁ, D., POPPEOVÁ, V., 1994, LEŠŠO, I., FLEGNER, P., 2009, LEŠŠO, I., FLEGNER, P., LACIAK, M., FERIANČIKOVÁ, K., 2011]. 2 Variables characterizing the process of the disintegration of rocks to determine the optimal mode of disintegration In search of optima using energy theory disintegration of rocks is based on the instantaneous velocity procedure for isolating the instrument measuring volume work disintegration depending on downforce, respectively speed. The general course of the given variables, and the relationship between them is shown in Fig. 2. 6 Fig. 2 One-parametric depending on the instantaneous velocity in drilling v, measuring volume work disintegration w and sharing these values to downforce F, respectively speed n Disintegration energy density w is the share amount of energy delivered to the system and open-volume V . P w 1 V , (W/m3, W,m3). (3) Working ability isolating instrument is the proportion of the instantaneous velocity v and disintegration energy density w v w , (W/m3, W,m3), (4) the ability to work disconnecting the instrument is dependent on the speed F and downforce n. The optimal mode of the disintegration set operating point and its surroundings is determined by the minimum energy density w or disintegration maximum value of incapacitation isolating tool . The energy signal is one of a number of energy used in the process of disintegration of the transformed energy fed to the tool [KRÚPA, V., PINKA, J., 1998]. The energy acoustic signal can be calculated as power multiplied by time. In the case of digital data to calculate the energy of the acoustic signal we can use the relationship: N 1 N 1 k 0 k 0 E P.N pk s 2 k (5) Where signal energy E, (J), average power P, (W) p instantaneous signal power (W) with the original value of the digital signal (W) [KAČUR, J. - LACIAK, M. - DURDÁN, M., 2010, KAČUR, J. - LACIAK, M. - DURDÁN, M., 2011, KOČÍ, P. 2007, STEHLÍKOVÁ, B. - KOSTÚR, K. - JACO, M., 2005]. 3 Evolutionary Planning Box Method Experiments carried out in laboratory conditions UGt SAV in Košice boxes allow the application of evolutionary planning methods in pursuit of two input variables (factors), which were maintained at approximately constant in the system, namely: speed and downforce. Fig. 4 to Fig. 6 shows cross sections of surfaces of the second degree, for which output variable (endpoint) is another method of measurement and physical interpretation. Isolines are considering the used graphical environment replaced by a square (quadratic) network structure, which is dividing the observed variable process parameters [BENKOVÁ, M. - FLOREKOVÁ, Ľ. - BOGDANOVSKÁ, G., 2005, FLOREKOVÁ, Ľ., 1998, JOHNSON – LEONE, 1987]. In Fig. 3, we can monitor the progress of measuring energy disintegration, which is calculated according to equation (3), depending on speed and downforce w = f (F, n). Twodimensional surface is characterized by a parabolic section, which is extreme in infinity. The arrow indicates the direction towards the optimum procedure in this case the minimum energy consumed in the process of disintegration. 7 Fig. 3 Two-dimensional cut during the disintegration of specific energy-w In Fig. 4, we can monitor the progress of the work ability isolating tool, which is calculated according to equation (4), depending on downforce and speed = f (F, n). We can accompany the change the nature of the cut two-dimensional surface, which is characterized by a saddle point of a hyperbolic course. Relation (4) already takes into account some technological variables that affect the process of disintegration and change the nature of the reference section cut. The optimum direction indicated by the arrow and in this case dictated by a maximum value of variable . Fig. 4 Two-dimensional cut during incapacitation isolating tool- In Fig. 5, we can monitor the progress of acoustic energy that arises in the process of disintegration. It is calculated according to relationship (5) as a function of the feed pressure 8 and speed E = f (F, n). A cut in a two-dimensional surface is characterized by straight lines, whose extreme "does not exist". The arrow indicates the direction of advancement towards optimum, in this case to the minimum acoustic energy consumed in the process of disintegration. Fig. 5 Two-dimensional cut during acoustic energy - movement phenomenon in the process of disintegration-E In Fig. 3-5 we see applications of Box method use in the case, when two variables (downforce, speed) enter into the system and output follows a single variable generally designated KPI (Fig. 2). Each of Fig. 3-5 thus expresses other KPI. Individual colored bands represent change in control variables speed and downforce. In all three cases, the inputs to the system are the same, but the cuts have a different character, as well as the procedure to process the direction of the maximum. It is a typical example of the importance of choosing the studied variables - indicator - KPI tracking system. 4 Conclusions Modeling itself is a theoretical cognitive process and is based on the abstraction of thought. Abstraction is the fact that the observed process (object) considers only those properties that are subject to examination and are all identical. Even in this case, we highlight the importance of models and modeling, which contribute not only to addressing specific tasks, but primarily to acquire new knowledge about the structure and behavior of the system. Unlike mathematics, which is characterized by rich mathematical apparatus, engineering and technology uses multiple experiments and methods of dimensional analysis and physical similarity to generalize the achievements obtained by measuring the test STAND, models, reviewing the adequacy of its structure and behavior. Along with the new concepts of models, the improved mathematical model brings the possibility of generalising the results obtained and their use on another device (object, process) which has a physically similar model. Seminar ASR '2013 “Instruments and Control” © 2013, VŠB-TUO, Ostrava, ISBN 978-80-248-2967-8 The Electronic Variable Pitch Drive GEBAUER, Jan1 & KOČÍ, Petr2 1 Ing., Katedra ATŘ-352, VŠB-TU Ostrava, 17. listopadu, Ostrava - Poruba, 708 33 [email protected], 2 doc., Ph.D., [email protected] Abstract: This contribution describes procedures and results obtained at the Department of Control Systems and Instrumentation of the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava during research and mathematical modelling of variable pitch systems behaviour. The wiring scheme and control strategy of the electronic variable pitch drive mounted on new testing stand are presented. Ability of machines to fly had been based on the complex mechanical units until the end of last century. Development of high-quality and affordable sensors brings the innovation to this sector. The presented stand was created for testing of the new optimised control algorithms for UAV devices (multicopter). The complex mechanical parts can be replaced by electronics. The construction of EVP testing stand includes BLDC motor, power electronics (ESC), microcontroller, sensors and simple frame. It doesn´t require complex mechanical parts. Management and control is compared with conventional helicopter eased considerably. Keywords: Variable pitch, Propeller propulsion, EVP 1 Introduction The current concept where propellers (without a variable pitch) are used is not effective in whole RPM spectrum. Currently used (fixed pitch) propellers are appropriate only for a multikopter with a constant weight. If the weight of the model is changed, it is necessary to change the type of the propeller and even of the engine to optimize the propulsion unit efficiency. Figure 1 – Testing stand for EVP propeller drive 11 Figure 2 – Variable pitch (EVP) system. Different configurations of modules (sensors which are placed on the multikopter) have to be set for different industrial application. The number of these modules changes the total weight of the construction. Before the final configuration can be set it is necessary to define the number of engines, arms and propeller parameters. To avoid modifying the construction for different applications, propulsion drives with variable pitch can be used (see Fig. 2). Such a modified multikopter can be used in a wide range of applications (no need to recalculate suitable propellers). The control loop of the variable pitch system will be different from the previous one. To achieve a better efficiency of the whole propulsion mechanism the thrust will be modified by changing the propeller blades pitch while the RPM is controlled by another control loop. Figure 3 – The EVP stand schematic. 2 The propeller analysis As a propeller’s blade rotates through the air, the airfoil is inclined to the flight direction at some angle. The angle between the chord line and the incoming air direction is called the angle of attack and has a large effect on the thrust generated by a propeller. 12 The magnitude of the lift generated by an object depends on the shape of the object and how it moves through the air. For thin airfoils (like the NACA0009 used on stand) the lift is directly proportional to the angle of attack for small angles. Figure 4 gives technical definitions of a wing's geometry, which is one of the chief factors affecting airplane lift. D U α W V T L α c Figure 4 – Forces on the airfoil. Where: L [N] means lift, D [N] is a force in a direction opposed to the motion called drag, U [ms-1] is a fluid input speed, c [m] as an airfoil dimension and s [m] is the foil span in the transverse direction (not shown in picture). The angle of blade alpha will oscillate between negative and positive values. When the angle is zero, there will be zero thrust because the lift force will be purely vertical. For a symmetric foil the lift force will be zero in this case, as there is no circulation. As the angle is increased, the thrust force will increase until a certain point where stalling occurs and the lift starts to decrease. As air passes through the rotating blades, it gets energised, its speed increases. In the process the required thrust to propel the aircraft is produced. We consider the propeller as a thin disc rotating in air as shown in Fig. 5. The pressure and velocity away from the disc are p0 and V0. The disc imparts momentum and energy to the incoming air such that the pressure and velocity in the disc are ΔV and respectively. At far downstream the conditions are V1 and p1. In the figure 4, you can see a scheme of a propeller propulsion system and some of the equations defining how a propeller produces thrust at the bottom. 13 Propeller -1 V0 [ms ] V1 [ms-1] p0 [Pa] p1 [Pa] ≈ p0 [Pa] Motor S [m2] Δp [Pa] V0 ΔV p0 Δp V1 p1 Figure 5 – Analysis of the propeller. Where: velocity, is the input stream velocity, is the area of rotating disc, is the downstream velocity, is the input pressure, is inducted is the output pressure, is the pressure jump in rotating disc area. If the angle of attack and the rotation speed are known, the climb rate H [m] could be calculated. H n V1 Figure 6 – The propeller climb rate. 14 H – climb rate [m] n – RPM [min-1] H α Figure 7 – The propeller climb rate calculation. The theoretical airspeed is: -1 [ms ]. The total airspeed based on the Fig.4 is: [ms-1], where: [ms-1], where [m] means distance from the centre of propeller rotation and: [ms-1], from: , (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) then we can define airspeed on the whole propeller blade profile as shown in Fig. 8: n α1 W3 α3 W4 D W5 α5 α6 r1 W2 α2 α4 r2 W1 W6 Figure 8 – Propeller blade airfoil decomposition. [ms-1], and inducted airspeed is: (6) [ms-1]. (7) A spinning propeller sets up a pressure which is lower than free stream in front of the propeller and higher than free stream behind the propeller. Downstream of the disk the pressure eventually returns to free stream conditions. But at the exit, the velocity is greater 15 than free stream because the propeller works on the airflow. The Bernoulli's equation can be applied to the air in front of the propeller and to the air behind the propeller. Thrust can be described as: [N] (8) The Bernoulli's equation says that: , (9) then: (10) total pressure in free stream: , (11) total pressure in downstream: , (12) and pressure jump is: , (13) after substitution with (10) and (13) and (14): . (14) The downstream velocity can be substituted by (5). The free stream velocity for hovering flight. So the total thrust equation will be: (15) This thrust is an ideal number that does not account for many losses that occur in practical, high speed propellers, like tip losses and propeller stall. 3 Conclusions The introduced EVP stand was used for validation of the mathematical approach. Measurements revealed that the approximation of the propeller thrust was corresponding to the actual values. The model does not include losses and various properties of the propeller, which can’t be easily described mathematically, it is primarily a phenomenon known as separation of the streamlines (propeller stall). There is a decrease in the buoyancy and increase in the burden on the drive unit. This phenomenon is observed only at high airspeeds and at high angles of attack. In figures (10) to (13) you can see the measured data for few angles of attack. Figure 9 – The thrust measurement, angle of attack 4 degrees. No stalling. 16 Figure 10 – The thrust measurement, angle of attack 7 degrees. No stalling. Figure 11 – The thrust measurement, angle of attack 10 degrees. Stalling at 7 200 RPM. Applications of these actuators are in the area of active vibration control by which we also deal with at our department. For that reason knowledge of these actuators is main assumption for their usage. This paper is focused on actuator static characteristic's measurement and decline of extension in dependence on static load. Five piezoelectric actuators have been tested and are divided according to whether they include inner measurement or not. Their size and maximum extension are the same. Differences will be introduced and compared. All measurements have been realized at laboratory model assembled for these tests. Comparison of measured data of tested piezoelectric actuators results from this paper. Vnitřní odměřování slouží k realizaci zpětné vazby a tím i k linearizaci výstupu. Jelikož pro zatížení piezoaktuátoru statickou silou přibližně 3000 N bychom v ideálním případě potřebovali velikou hmotnost o váze přibližně 300 kg a manipulace s touto hmotností v laboratorních podmínkách by nebyla lehká, přistoupili jsme k možnosti zatěžování nosníku pomocí předepnutí pružiny. Unifikační jednotka snímače síly obsahuje i grafický výstup v podobě aktuálního zatížení a proto je možné ruční nastavení zatěžující síly prostřednictvím šroubu. Největšího prodloužení dosáhl piezoaktuátor s označením 1473 a to 101,5 µm. Čs. legií 565, 532 10 Pardubice, University of Pardubice, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Department of Process Control, e-mail: [email protected], [email protected] Abstract: Article introduces a benchmark of algorithms for training of piecewise-lienar artificial neural networks (ANN) with linear saturated activation function in hidden layer. Special topology of the ANN is used because of its expediential usage for plant control. Accuracy and speed of convergence is important for next usage of this special approach in plant control, and article aims on discovering the best general purpose training algorithm for software framework called Encog. Benchmarking data are based on real problems. Keywords: piecewise-linear neural network, benchmark, machine learning algorithms, process control 1 Introduction An artificial neural network (ANN) is an adaptive mathematical structure that reorganizes and changes its structure based on external or internal information that flows through the network. Nowadays, it is especially used for modeling of complex nonlinear relationships between input and output datasets or decision making tools. The ANN is now widespread thru plenty of scientific domains. The ANN models have been found useful and efficient, particularly in problems for which the characteristics of the processes are difficult to describe by physical equations or have a complex structure. 2 Motivation A special topology used for linearization of the nonlinear model exists for the ANN. This approach can be used for process control and detailed methodology is described in Doležel et al. (2011). This piecewise-linear (PWL) ANN is one-layered feed-forward neural network that can have only one neuron in output layer. Besides it has saturated linear activation functions in hidden layer and linear activation function in output layer (see Fig. 1). However, the methodology doesn’t have any recommendation about the machine learning algorithms. Methodology only describes that approximation quality of real system is given by quality of training. Therefore, the problem is in speed and performance of the machine learning algorithm. The main purpose of this contribution is to identify the fastest general purpose algorithm that can be used for training of the PWL ANN with linear saturated activation functions in hidden layer. 25 XXXVII. Most of the machine learning algorithms use back propagation of actual error, thus these algorithms need derivative activation functions. The ANN topology uses the saturated linear activation functions in hidden layer due to piecewise-linear modeling. The saturated linear function is not differentiable at starting point of saturation so the derivative function is replaced by derivative function of hyperbolic tangent function. Brief information about selected benchmarked learning algorithms: Levenberg–Marquardt (LM) – the algorithm that combines the advantages of gradient-descent and Gauss-Newton methods. Algorithm is described in Levenberg (1944), Marquardt (1963) and in this concrete implementation of algorithm is added Bayesian regularization to overcome the problem in interpolating noisy data, more information in Foresee et al. (1997). Scaled Conjugate Gradient (SCG) – the algorithm based on conjugate directions but it does not perform a line search at each iteration. For more details see Moller (1990). Resilient Propagation – (RPROP) the algorithm based only on change of the sign of the partial derivative over all patterns (not the magnitude), and it acts independently on each "weight". For each weight, if there is a sign change of the partial derivative of the total error function compared to the last iteration, the update value for that weight is multiplied by a factor η−, where η−< 1. If the last iteration produced the same sign, the update value is multiplied by a factor of η+, where η+> 1. The update values are calculated for each weight as described above. At the end, each weight is changed by its own update value in the opposite direction of that weight's partial derivative, so as to minimize the total error function. See more in Riedmiller et al. (1993), Igel et al. (2000). Quick Propagation (QP) –the algorithm based loosely on Newton’s method but fundamentally it is more heuristic than formal. It makes two risky assumptions. At first, the error vs. weight curve for each weight can be approximated by a parabola whose arms are opened upward. At second, the slope change of the error curve, as seen by each weight, is not affected by all other weights which are 26 XXXVII. Seminar ASR '2013 “Instruments and Control” © 2013, VŠB-TUO, Ostrava, ISBN 978-80-248-2967-8 changing at the same time. For each weight independently, the algorithm uses the previous and current error slopes and the weight-change between the points at which these slopes were measured to determine a parabola. QP then jumps directly to the minimum point of this parabola. More in Fahlman (1988). The basic Backpropagation algorithm can’t reach target error. In most cases of measuring it was inapplicable for benchmark, therefore it is discarded from algorithm set for benchmarking. 4 Benchmark For measuring performance, the Caliper was used (Caliper is Google's open-source framework for java). Framework handles a lot of inconveniences and inaccuracies connected with measuring or benchmarking code in java. The PWL ANN was implemented in framework called Encog (Machine Learning Framework) in version 3.1.0. The main idea is to measure the speed of training in time units. Training speed in time units depends on the speed of convergence, computational demands or other performance characteristics (for example quality of implementation and code design). For comparative reasons, we propose the algorithm that defines same rules for all measurements (see Fig. 2). Start and end points in flow chart define place where measuring of time starts and stops. start read: trainingSet read: validationSet read: network read: targetError i = 0, replications reset network TM := create train method TM add train reset strategy epoch := 1 reset network process Train Iteration trainError := network.computeError(trainingSet) epoch := epoch + 1 YES trainError = Infinity NO trainError < targetError NO YES validationError := network.computeError(validationSet) validatioError < targetError OR epoch > 30000 YES NO end Figure 2 – Algorithm in flowchart for measure function One of the most important parameters is target error. The target error determines escape condition for training. If calculated error from validation set is less than target error, the training ends. Measure algorithm uses important strategy (this strategy isn’t in flowchart 27 XXXVII. Seminar ASR '2013 “Instruments and Control” © 2013, VŠB-TUO, Ostrava, ISBN 978-80-248-2967-8 exactly, but it is a part of benchmarked function). If training error isn’t less than target error after 500 iterations (this is coefficient in benchmark), network weights are reset to new values. This strategy helps to set the appropriate initial values of weights and helps to speed up training. In flowchart, there is some operation that needs an explanation. The operation “reset network” means resetting the weight matrix and the bias values by Nguyen – Widrow randomizer described in Nguygen et al. (1990). Input parameters for measure are training and validation data, network, targeted error and number of replications. The standard Mean Square Error (MSE) is used for determine error (1). Where ii is the ideal value and ai is the actual value. 1 n 2 MSE ii ai n i1 5 Benchmark data sets Most contributions present the performance results of the algorithms only for a very small number of problems. In most cases, less than three problems are presented and one or several of these problems are meaningless synthetic problems. One of the reasons could be that it is difficult to get data for real problems. For this paper a subset of benchmark problems from Proben1 is used. The Proben1 is set of standard datasets for the ANN evaluation based on real problems. Brief explanation is presented in paragraphs below of chosen datasets. All datasets descriptions are taken from Prechelt (1994): Cancer (classification problem) – Diagnosis of breast cancer. Try to classify a tumor as either benign or malignant based on cell descriptions gathered by microscopic examination. Glass (classification problem) – Classify glass types. The results of a chemical analysis of glass splinters (percent content of 8 different elements) plus the refractive index are used to classify the sample to be either float processed or non float processed building windows, vehicle windows, containers, tableware, or head lamps. Heart (classification problem) – Predict heart disease. Decide whether at least one of four major vessels is reduced in diameter by more than 50%. The binary decision is made based on personal data such as age, sex, smoking habits, subjective patient pain descriptions, and results of various medical examinations such as blood pressure and electro cardiogram results. Thyroid (classification problem) – Diagnose thyroid hyper- or hypofunction. Based on patient query data and patient examination data, the task is to decide whether the patient's thyroid has overfunction, normal function, or underfunction. Flare (approximation problem) – Prediction of solar flares. Try to guess the number of solar flares of small, medium, and large size that will happen during the next 24-hour period in a fixed active region of the sun surface. Input values describe previous are activity and the type and history of the active region. The topology requires only one neuron in output layer. Some datasets have more than one output. In these cases outputs are transformed to only one value by (2). n output ideal i 10i i 1 Where n is the number of ideal outputs and ideal is the appropriate dataset output. For each input values normalization to interval <–1, 1> is used. For more detailed information about datasets see Prechelt (1994). 28 XXXVII. Seminar ASR '2013 “Instruments and Control” © 2013, VŠB-TUO, Ostrava, ISBN 978-80-248-2967-8 6 Results Each experiment is usually measured in 7 trials and if needed for required standard deviation accuracy 5 more trials can be additionally measured. The threshold of standard deviation is at least one digit place lower than measured result. The trials are executed with replication parameter. The number of replications changes from 500 to 1000 and it depends on the speed of executed code in benchmark function. All results are introduced in Table 1. and they are presented in milliseconds. All results were measured on computer with this hardware configuration: Intel Core i5 2.53GHz, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 x64 and model: Acer Aspire 5820TG. Some train methods converge slowly, therefore values above the threshold of 2000 milliseconds are rather approximate to real values. It cannot be measured with required accuracy because of time and performance issues. This problem appears especially in HEART and THYROID datasets. Table 1. On the other hand, it has notably bad results in heart dataset. If we consider that the Rprop is nearly as fast as QP and faster in results from heart and thyroid, it could be considered as the best general purpose algorithm. RPROP requires less adjustment of parameters than QP and hence Rprop is more stable than QP. 7 Conclusions The article is focused on indentifying the best machine learning algorithms for feed forward artificial neural network with saturated linear activation function in hidden layer, called piecewise-linear artificial neural network. Benchmark’s results in Table 1. prove and show that the best training methods for this type of the ANN’s topology is the Quick propagation but it is not suitable for all types of datasets. The best general purpose training method seems to be the Resilient propagation. RPROP is more stable on vary problems than others, and it has simple algorithm of calculation in each iteration, that is why it is fast and robust. In addition, the benchmark shows that normally efficient LM algorithm is computationally more demanding than others (especially this implementation). In benchmark 29 XXXVII. Seminar ASR '2013 “Instruments and Control” © 2013, VŠB-TUO, Ostrava, ISBN 978-80-248-2967-8 comparison, the LM is significantly slower than training algorithms preferred by this contribution. 8 References DOLEŽEL, P., TAUFER, I. Ing, CSc., [email protected] Abstract: Application potential of motion analysis today is extensive. Thanks to still more affordable sensors for motion measurement and high performance computers, this can be used not only in professional fields, but it is still more used in devices used for entertainment or daily use. One of the applications of motion analysis, which can be fully automated, is recognition of motions. Systems that can recognize gestures and specific patterns in signals from motion sensors can be utilized in medical practice, where they help to speed up routine activities related to measurement processing, but also in devices like cell phones or remote controllers, where this technology is used as non-standard form of input. Although today there are several approaches to solve this problem, it’s still challenging to assemble sufficiently reliable system. This paper describes how we use artificial neural network to solve this problem. In difference to other solutions, this one doesn’t require to build model for each specific sensor, thus can be used in combination with various measuring systems without need for extensive structural changes. Keywords: pattern, recognition, motion, analysis, neural, network 1 Introduction Today there are various ways to track and analyze human motions. There are contactless methods based on cameras, that can recognize key points in image and by change in their position they can determinate motion in two dimensional space, or when using more cameras even in third dimension. Another technique is to use sensors that can measure velocity and direction of motion and therefore determine change in position of an object. Such sensors are for example accelerometers and gyroscopes which today, mainly thanks to MEMS technology, have miniature dimensions and can be therefore used in devices like wristwatches, wearable sensor networks, cell phones, etc. Data measured by these methods can be evaluated in different ways and for different purposes. One of the first applications of motion analysis was in medicine, both for diagnostic purposes, but also in sports medicine to analyze progress in training. Although from the beginning there were attempts to use computers for this task, in some stage there was always need for human intervention. Of course procedure like this was demanding, time consuming and it was not possible to use it in larger scope. 2 Pattern recognition in motion analysis With progress in information technologies there was also developed new methods for automatic signal processing. These make whole process of motion analysis easier by transferring routine activities from humans to computers. Today there are systems that can process even complex signals from motion sensors and within them they can identify key components characteristic for different kinds of motions. With complete automation of this 31 process, there appear also new possibilities of its use. With still more affordable sensors for motion measurement and availability of more powerful computers, some parts of motion analysis are being used in devices designed for entertainment or for daily use. Such devices are for example cell phones or remote controllers, where gestures recognized in their movement are used to control them (Fig.1,2). Controlling devices by gestures, mostly by hand, instead of standard input devices have many advantages. Usage of gestures is for many people more natural and requires less fine motor skills than usage of keyboards or touch screens. For some people, this is actually the only way to operate various devices. Figure 1 – Concept of gesture controlled TV remote [1] Figure 2 – Concept of cell phone controlled by gestures [1] Although higher power of today’s computers allows us to use in analysis more complex algorithms than before, recognition of match between measured signals and reference model remains still a nontrivial task. It is mainly because of fact, that even if we try to repeat the same movement identically, measured signal will still have larger or smaller deviations compared to previous measurements. Therefore, when designing system for recognition, it is necessary to consider that processed signal can be time-shifted, dilated or it can have some other form of deformation. This effect is even worse when there is more time elapsed between measurements or when the same movement is performed by multiple subjects. This means that the recognition system must be sensitive enough to discern a signal slightly different from the reference, but also robust enough to not return false positive results. Currently, when it comes to pattern recognition, usual choice is to use Hidden Markov Model (HMM) [2], [3]. It is being used in motion recognition as well as in speech and image processing. But this method is complicated because there is need to assemble complex model for each sensor used. This is why we decided to use another approach and that is pattern recognition using neural network. 3 Using neural network for pattern recognition In our project we use inertial measurement unit (IMU) consisting of 3-axis analog accelerometer MMA7431 from FreeScale and 3-axis digital gyroscope ITG3200 from InvenSense (Fig.3,4). Data from these sensors are acquired by microcontroller unit Atmel ATmega32L and send to computer at speed of 100 kilobauds. With this assembly we can track movement in all six degrees of freedom with sampling frequency much higher than it is necessary to study human motions. Although accelerometers and gyroscopes are principally designed to measure different components of motion, most complex gestures generates 32 waveforms in acceleration and angular velocity domain unique enough to identify them. That is why it is not necessary to use data from both sensors. This paper describes usage of same system to process data from sensors which are usually not interchangeable. Figure 3,4 - Inertial measurement unit used for testing [4] Function of recognition system IMU don’t process data, it just transferred them to computer. Before they enter neural network, they go through very little processing. First, data from both sensors are cleared from offset, which is difference between measured value and zero in state, when the device is not moving. Besides that, data from accelerometer are run through low-pass filter, because signal from it is fairly noisy. This data are continually monitored and program waits for one of the values to exceed threshold values of acceleration or angular velocity, which could mean that there is a gesture in progress. After system detects beginning of motion, measured data are recorded until they fill up given frame. Length of the frame and sampling frequency is adjustable, but for backward compatibility it is convenient to choose and use same values. Determination of right frame length is not critical, but it has significant impact on overall system performance. If the frame is too short, it cannot span over whole gesture and therefore recognition capability is limited. But if it is too long, it contains lot of unnecessary data that are not important for functionality, but slow down whole process. Therefore right frame length should be determined based on the expected inputs. Figure 5,6 - Gesture waveform measured by gyroscope (left) and accelerometer (right) 33 Frame processed like this is an input to the neural network, where the number of neurons in the input layer is equal to the number of samples in one frame. Because we use data from all three axes, there is one neural network for each of them and final result is based on mean value of these three partial results. This solution has proved to be more reliable over the use of one neural network for all data. But this way, when we try to use gesture that has not significant waveform in some dimension (like X axis on Fig.7), neural network assign to this axis will be unable to learn properly and will always return uncertain result. But this is sufficiently compensated by averaging this result with other two certain results (Fig.7). Important role in this is also right setup of threshold, which is the value by which the final result is considered positive. Figure 7 – Final result based on three partial results Figure 8 - Change of error during learning cycles Training of neural network In our project we use Backpropagation method to train neural networks. This is a form of supervised training in which the neural network tries to learn the relationship between inputs and outputs based on a given examples. When preparing training sets for the network, procedure of data processing must be same as when we use it. Gesture which we want to be recognized is entered in form of several samples. These samples must have some level of diversity, so that trained network will eventually be sufficiently sensitive. When building training sets, it is preferable to take measurements with more than one subject and also not all of them in one time. This helps to reach required level of variance. To achieve correct results, it is also important to assign negative examples. These are motions and gestures, which we don’t want to be recognized. If we know in advance what group of gestures will be used, we can set all other gestures from the group as negative examples and therefore increase reliability of recognition. Selection of appropriate training sets and proper selection of parameters of neural network is crucial for right function of whole system. Training of neural network is pretty time consuming, require lot of computing power and it’s getting worst with increasing number of training sets, longer frames, etc. But on the other side, use of trained network is pretty quick and saved neural network requires only few kilobytes of memory. Because of this, there isn’t problem to build up libraries containing more trained networks and use them as needed. 34 Verification of accuracy As it was mentioned above, correctly working system for recognition must be able to recognize gestures with slight differences, but at the same time it must be solid enough so that it don’t return false-positive results. Accuracy of recognition depends on many factors. Besides right setup of the network it is also dependant on type and number of gestures used. To verify attributes of our system, we setup simple experiment. For every variant of input we conducted series of 150 measurements and their results are in Table 1. Table 1. Accuracy of recognition using different inputs Sensor Signal processing Accuracy Comment gyroscope internal low-pass 97,3% accelerometer low-pass 94,6% accelerometer none 78,6% gyroscope internal low-pass false-positive results test 0% As it can be seen in this table, best results come from gyroscope. It is mainly because data coming from accelerometer are, regardless of filtering, affected by noise. This is noticeably worst when there is no filter used. Last test was aimed to find out if our system generates any false-positive results. As an input in this test were used gestures evidently different from reference and goal was to find out how many times system return positive result. From the 150 measurements, none of the results come back positive, which means that well trained neural network has potential to serve as system for pattern recognition in motion analysis. 4 Conclusions Applications of MEMS sensors for motion measurement today are still greater. Thanks to their affordability and useful characteristics, they find their usage in many devices. One of the ways they can be used in modern gadgets is for gesture control. Today there are systems that can recognize patterns in waveforms generated by motion sensors and base on them they can identify different gestures. But it is still difficult task to build such an algorithm and it involves several complications. In our project we decided to take less conventional approach and we use artificial neural network instead of standard algorithm. We've put together system that, thanks to the specific characteristics of neural networks can work with different kinds of sensors without need for significant changes in his structure. To verify his properties, we conducted simple experiment, which showed that well trained neural network is capable to reliably recognize simple gestures. Further development of this system should focus on recognition of complex gestures and also sequential movements. In the future we would also like to explore the possibilities of its use in portable devices, in which recognition of gestures has most significant use. This magnetic field can be amplified with using a ferromagnetic material. This effect is used for example in electric motors. This paper deals with the measuring of hysteresis loop of the toroidal shape core, so it is possible to obtain its characteristics and also total loss of power consumed by the magnetic material in the AC magnetization. These results will be used for improvements of design of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), where the toroidal core will be used as a stator. To automate process of measuring hysteresis loop, software LabVIEW is used, while the Matlab software is used to automate the optimization process of design. Keywords: Hysteresis loop, PMSM, LabVIEW, Toroidal core 1 Introduction Knowledge of the hysteresis loop for the material of stator core in the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is a very important part of the motor’s design. The hysteresis characteristics itself consists of the dependence between the magnetic field intensity H (t) and the magnetic flux density B (t). Its dimensions and shape widely influence stator core losses of the PMSM which are not negligible [1, 6]. Using software such as FEMM (Finite Element Method Magnetics) it is possible to implement data of the known B-H curve in the process of the motor’s design and improve its properties, so the core power losses can be decreased. Measurement of the hysteresis loop of the toroidal shape core is made by using LabVIEW. Similar papers and literature about this topic have been already published [2, 3]. One of our goals is to check the dependence between the frequency of the generated signal and the shape – and therefore losses – of the hysteresis loop for our stator material. Also if possible, we would like to find an influence of the core’s operating temperature to our results. This all has to be made by using low cost amplifier and other devices, because professional equipment used in the industry is expensive [4]. 2 Design of the hysteresis measurement Measuring procedure is based on [2] and is shown in figure Fig. 1. Signal generator is a frequency generator with a given frequency and amplitude of a generated sinusoidal signal. This signal is then amplified by the 400W amplifier and the current i1 (t) is measured by the current probe. 37 Output from the current probe is a voltage and it is measured by the NI USB-6210 (National Instruments data acquisition device with USB PC connection). Due to the current flow in the primary winding of the toroidal shape core, the magnetic field intensity H (t) is created. Its magnitude can be calculated based on Ampere’s law as [2]: N i (t ) (1) H (t ) 1 1 2r where N1 is the number of turns in the primary winding, i1 (t) is the current in the same winding and r is the middle radius of the toroidal shape core (value of denominator is the equivalent to the magnetic length of the material). Result of the magnetic field intensity H (t) is the creation of the magnetic flux (t ) inside the core. Then, the magnetic flux density B (t) can be measured and calculated based on the induced voltage u2 (t) as [2]: t 1 (2) B(t ) B0 u 2 ( )d SN 2 0 where N2 is the number of turns in the secondary winding, u2 (t) is the induced voltage of the secondary coil, S is the cross section of the toroidal shape core and B0 is an offset. The integration is a time consuming method and with increasing frequency the noise is expected to increase. Based on the [2] direct voltage measurement can be applied only up to 200 Hz and some filters has to be used to cut the added noise. Therefore using analog RC passive integrator seems to be a good way how to increase possible applied frequency (up to 1 kHz [2]) and even not to use any further signal processing algorithms, because it is working as a low-pass filter. Measured voltage is then given by [2]: t 1 (3) v2 (t ) u 2 ( )d RC 0 where v2 (t) is the measured voltage on capacitor, R is the value of used resistor, and C is the value of used capacitor in the integrator circuit. After acquiring data from measured voltage, induced voltage can be then easily calculated and substituted into equation (2) without offset B0. In the end, all the data from measurements are saved in PC and ready for further analysis. Figure 1 – Measuring procedure 38 2.1 Using LabVIEW for data acquisition For the purposes of our measurements, adjustable graphical user interface (GUI) was created. Because in the future we would like to measure different materials of toroidal shape cores, variables such as N1, N2, frequency of modulated signal, number of data samples/s, S, r can be changed without having to interfere with values in the program block diagram. GUI is shown in Fig. 2 and program block diagram can be found in Fig. 3. All acquired data together with input variables are saved in a data file, from where they can be used for further analysis in the future. Figure 2 – GUI from LabVIEW Figure 3 – Program block diagram 39 3 Analyzing acquired data Parameters of tested toroidal shape core together with supplementary parameters can be found in Tab. 1. During measurement, current value was set as constant while the frequency was changing. With increasing frequency the current is dropping so to keep its value constant, amplitude of a generated signal has to be increased. The sampling rate per channel was 12500 samples per second. If the testing time was set as 5 seconds (to be able to cut possible disturbances from the beginning of the measurement), it give us around 62500 data for one chosen current and frequency. These data can be now analyzed. There is more than one way how to do it. First - the easier one - is to choose only a part of measured signal, for example 4 periods. Then the hysteresis loop can be plotted only from these 4 periods and the result is shown in Fig.4. Table 1. Parameters of tested toroidal core with supplementary parameters Name of used toroidal core 0078090A7 (Magnetics) N1 [ ] 300 N2 [ ] 300 2 S [m ] 0,000134 r [m ] 0,0188775 Applied frequencies [Hz] 30~700 / 1 / 30~400 / 2 Applied current [A] 30~250 / 3 L1 [H] 0,008592 L1 [H] 0,008867 R1 [Ω] 7,2 R2 [Ω] 7,3 Figure 4 – Hysteresis loop of the toroidal shape core; applied current 3 A, applied frequency 250 Hz 40 Figure 5 – Single-sided amplitude spectrum of u2(t); applied current 3A, applied frequency 250 Hz The second choice is to use wider interval of acquired data (or again just 4 periods) and use some method for digital signal processing, such as Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). With FFT, it is possible to bring down complexity of acquired data [5] and then analyze only the simplified signal which one still has the key role in the measurement. Because we used RC passive integrator, calculated induced voltage should be already filtered from added noise of higher frequencies. But still, it is possible to check the induced voltage with FFT to find frequency components of a signal. The result can be seen in Fig.5. It is clearly visible that for generated signal of frequency 250 Hz the induced signal is composed with also different frequencies (mostly lower one). The next steps would be to limit these additional frequencies, reconstruction of original signal with inverse FFT and computing B-H curve again. At this point, it is not necessary to make further analysis of achieved B-H curves. From the Fig. 4 it is visible, that hysteresis curve is not very wide, if we consider it as a loop. If we plot other B-H curves with the same value of the current, but for different (lower) frequencies, we would obtain almost same progress as shown in Fig. 4. If we use a lower current, it will only lower magnitude of B. This is due to the parameters of the used coil. Its length due to number of turns is high (for this measurement) and therefore its resistance is also high. Commonly used coils in high speed PMSM have their resistance less than 1 [7, 8]. Summary, to achieve more adequate hysteresis curve for our material, it is necessary to decrease number of turns of our coil, which will lead to a smaller resistance of the primary and secondary winding, and therefore possibility to use higher frequencies and current. During the measurement, the toroidal shape core was located in the tank with mixing the water and the water temperature controller (set to 30°C). It was possible to keep toroidal core at nearly same temperature as surrounding water, but for higher currents and frequencies, there was a bigger temperature difference. Therefore, how to maintain same temperature of the core during the whole measurement needs further investigation. 3.1 Application of acquired data Even when it wasn’t possible to achieve B-H characteristic for the higher frequencies and current, it is already possible to use acquired data to check design of our PMSM. After implementing data of B-H curve into FEMM software we can compute results of FEM analysis with current 3A in only one active pole pair B+ and B- is in Fig. 6. Used permanent magnet is type N42. 41 Figure 6 – Result of FEM analysis with one active pole pair B+ and B-; current 3A With using a built in computing functions, it is now possible to analyze hysteresis losses per cycle and compare them with analytical method solutions [6, 9]. Also, because our prototype of PMSM is already built, we can use obtained data from FEMM for a comparison with the real losses. Other functions such as computing the torque can be used. 3.2 Optimization process After successful measurement of B-H curve for higher currents, the optimization process will be used to find ideal dimension of our PMSM. FEMM is using the Lua extension language and it allows us to use scripts, which will eventually draw whole design by using different calling functions. This script can be written for example in Matlab, which will use ActiveX interface for interprocess communication. So far, optimization process was used to obtain ideal dimensions for the tooth width. The results will be shown in the future, when the procedure will be confirmed for higher currents and different stator cores. 4 Conclusion Based on the measuring procedure, the measuring workplace was assembled and required data for the hysteresis characteristic of the toroidal shape core were measured. The B-H curve was plotted using acquired data and analyzed. Due to the high resistance of used coil, it is necessary to continue with another measurement and find optimal parameters for frequency and current in our PMSM, so the power losses in stator core will be kept at an acceptable level. A good plan for the future is also, if possible, finding an influence of the core’s operating temperature to our results while measuring its hysteresis characteristics. Obtained B-H characteristic was implemented into FEMM software and generated results from its computational core will be compared with data from real PMSM, so the design of PMSM can be improved in the future. This will be done using Lua script and Matlab software. Also, with the new measurement for different frequencies and current, the B-H characteristic will be updated. Based on these results, other materials for the toroidal shape core can be considered. 42 5 Nomenclature H (t) B (t) N1 N2 S r B0 (t ) i1 (t) u2 (t) v2 (t) R C L1 L2 R1 R2 U2 (f) magnetic field intensity magnetic flux density number of turns in the primary coil number of turns in the secondary coil cross section of the toroidal shape core middle radius of the toroidal shape core offset magnetic flux inside the core current of the primary coil induced voltage on the secondary coil measured voltage on the capacitor in the RC circuit value of the resistor in the RC integrator circuit value of the capacitor in the RC integrator circuit inductance of the primary coil inductance of the secondary coil resistance of the primary coil resistance of the secondary coil discrete Fourier transform (DFT) of vector u2 (t) (A·m-1) (T) () () (m2) (m) (T) (Wb) (A) (V) (V) ( ) (F) (H) (H) ( ) ( ) (V) 6 References [1] KRISHNAN, R. Tricept belongs among those devices. Such machines offer several advantages comparing to the conventional machine tools with serial kinematics, such as high flexibility, high stiffness, and high accuracy. To achieve a desired positioning accuracy and stability, the static and dynamic properties of the machine must be searched and mathematically described. The calculation of the estimate of positioning deviation, including respective uncertainty and covariances, is much more complicated task comparing to the serial kinematics. This article briefly describe provides an analytical calculation of lengths of Tricept telescopic rods ejection. Keywords: parallel kinematic structures, Tricept, telescopic rods 1 Introduction Parallel kinematics structures (PKS) are arranged as parallel motion members where one of end is located on the base frame and the second on a moving platform. Each type of PKS is different from other types by the number of parallel members. The number of parallel members depends on the number of degrees of freedom taken away by the construction. PKS with a greater number of parallel members are coupled with joints which take away fewer number of degrees of freedom. PKS are known as mechanisms with closed kinematics chains with one or more loops. For control purposes it is of the utmost importance to analysis workspace and also to compute inverse and direct dynamics based on suitable mathematical models (e.g. Jacobian matrix). 2 Tricept – A typical representative of PKS Seeing from the kinematics point of view, Tricept has a form of a fixed platform connected to the movable platform by three driven telescopic rods and a central rod without a drive (see Fig. 1). The central rod is rigidly connected to a movable platform, while the fixed platform connection enables a translation movement of a central rod without the possibility to rotate. [1] Work space of Tricept depends especially of distance of joints and position of joints at a telescopic rod. The Tricept’s resulting workspace is represented by an intersection of workspaces generated by individual rods. Thus it is an intersection of three similar discshaped spaces having the center of rotation at different places within a single cone. Discshaped spaces have the same orientation, parallel axes and their spherical points are located at a single defined circle. [2] 45 The inhomogeneous workspace regarding to the positioning accuracy and the stiffness represents the main disadvantage of Tricept kinematics. The first step in analysis must be then determination of required extension of telescopic rod in relation to a desired position of a searched point (end point of an effector).Indicate each of the addresses of the organizations in a separate paragraph, with margins to the centre. If more organizations are used, specify them by upper numerals in the order of their record. The address may also contain email or URL address. [3] Figure 1 – Tricept a) Basic parts of Tricept, b) Draw of the location of the axes of the Cartesian coordinate system 3 Derivation of motion equations of Tricept telescopic rods ejection To get a desired position of a technological effector, one must be able to calculate and to set up the required length of each telescopic rod. Movement carried out by Tricept can be simplified to the movement of the reference point to along any spatial curve. One option is to program Tricept to define transition along the sections of the given curve. Adjacent parts of the curve are joined in nodal points. If those points are located sufficiently close together, the curve can be approximated by straight line segments. Let us have reference point q that is tightly connected with a movable platform. When it shall move to the desired coordinates in the workspace, one needs to calculate the extensions of individual telescopic rods (AA´, BB´, CC´), see Fig. 2. 46 Figure 2 – Basic geometry of Tricept a) Schematic representation of joints at platforms b) General rotation angles from the starting point to a new point Q Translation from the starting point q with coordinates [qx, qy, qz] (where rotation angles about x, y and z axes are zero as well as translation along z axis to a new point Q with coordinates [Qx, Qy, Qz] relative to a fixed platform is obtained as a transformation comprising of rotation around the y axis by angle given by a matrix Oy(), rotation around the x axis by angle given by matrix Ox() as well as of translation along the z axis given by vector q ze3 . Let us represent the location of the joints of telescopic rods at platform by a set of M = {-1, 0, 1}, see Fig. 3. The radius r designates the circle on which the secondary joints on mobile platform are located. The radius of the circle on which lie primarily joints is designated as R. The focus of the paper is prepare a theoretical basis for the calculation of Tricept workspace and also for programming of its motion. They represent a relatively new generation of machine tools. Paper presents the theoretical design to verify experimentally the structural and technological parameters of the parallel kinematic structure. In order to achieve a desired positioning accuracy and stability, the static and dynamic properties of the machine must be researched and mathematically described. The calculation of the estimate of positioning deviation, including the respective uncertainty and covariances, is a much more complicated task compared to serial kinematics. The next stage is focused on the test methods and verification of structural and technological parameters of Tricept. The experiment is designed based on the standard EN ISO 9283 and involves testing of technological parameters: one-way positioning accuracy and repeatability of the position. Keywords: parallel kinematic structure, quality, positioning accuracy, repeatable positioning accuracy, designe of the experiment 1 Paralelné kinematické štruktúry (PKŠ) Obmedzenia vývoja konvenčných obrábacích strojov viedlo k vývoju iných typov strojov. A tá vyžaduje zložitejšie riadenie. Obrázok 2 – Počítačový a reálny model triceptu: 1-pevná platforma, 2-centrálna tyč, 3- univerzálny (primárny) kĺb, 4-teleskopická tyč, 5-sférický (sekundárny) kĺb, 6-pohyblivá platforma Takýto typ mechanizmu je vytvorený z kinematických dvojíc typu HPS ( univerzálny, posuvný a sférický kĺb). 54 Univerzálny kĺb (pozri obrázok 3) je vytvorený dvomi otočnými kĺbmi. Predmetom tejto medzinárodnej normy je určenie a skúšanie týchto technických parametrov: jednosmerná presnosť polohy a opakovateľnosť polohy, zmena viacsmernej presnosti polohy, presnosť vzdialenosti a opakovateľnosť vzdialenosti, čas stabilizácie polohy, prekmit polohy, drift polohy, dráhová presnosť a dráhová opakovateľnosť, vrcholové odchýlky, dráhová rýchlosť, minimálny čas polohovania, statická poddajnosť. Tieto chyby môžu byť spôsobené vlastnosťami vnútorných riadiacich funkcií, chybami transformácie súradníc, rozdielmi medzi rozmermi kĺbovej konštrukcie a rozmermi použitými v modeli riadiaceho systému, mechanickými poruchami ako napr. vôľa, hysterézia, trenie a teplota. [3,4] Obrázok 6 – Vzťah medzi zadanou a dosiahnutou polohou 4 Presnosť polohy a opakovateľnosť polohy Jednosmerná presnosť polohy (AP) – vyjadruje odchýlku medzi zadanou polohou a priemerom z dosiahnutých polôh pri pohybe do zadanej polohy v tom istom smere. Jednosmernú presnosť rozlišujeme: - jednosmerná presnosť polohovania – rozdiel medzi zadanou polohou a barycentrom množiny dosiahnutých bodov (pozri obrázok 7), jednosmerná presnosť orientácie – rozdiel medzi naprogramovanou orientáciou a strednou hodnotou dosiahnutej uhlovej orientácie (pozri obrázok 8). It also describes the measurement system made for rangefinders Riftek, based on the board STM32F4 Discovery, equipped with a touch screen with graphic interface and LAN transducer to connect to the configuration and data collecting application. Keywords: STM32F4, Riftek, Data acquisition 1 Introduction There are many industry applications which require more computing power than low cost single chip 8 bit microcontrollers can provide, but PC or PLC is unnecessary powerful and expensive. There are many evaluation boards on the market, which provide middle class power, low energy consumption and special features. Solution substituting basic PLC or controller can be made for fraction of the price which is opportunity for small industry companies and education institutions. One of this low cost microcontroller boards is STM32F4 Discovery. 2 STM32F4 Discovery evaluation board The evaluation board STM32F4VG6 Discovery is one of the relatively extensive series boards published by STM in support of their processors STM32F0 to F4. The advantage of these boards, inter alia, in their very low cost comparable with price of 8 bit development boars. The STM32F4VG6 board contains: Processor STM32F4 o ARM Cortex M4 in 100 pin version, 168MHz, 1 instruction per cycle o 196kB of RAM, 1MB Flash with fast access o hardware floating-point, 16b numbers division in one cycle o 12x16bit timers, timer 2x32Bit o 16x12bit the A / D converter channels through DMA can create groups of three channels to increase the speed and accuracy The programmer / debugger circuit ST-LINK/V2 Three-axis accelerometer 8 bit LIS302DL MP45DT02 audio sensor with a microphone and CS43L22 audio amplifier type D DSP instructions and advanced math library functions 63 3 Digital range meters data acquisition unit Developed software is part of a system for material thickness measurement using triangulation laser range finders Riftek the series RF6xx. This software is intended for control board STM32F4 VG6 with processor STM32F4. Its purpose is to provide communication between the superior PC connected via UART / LAN transducer and laser rangefinders Riftek connected to the board via UART. Software allows: automatic detection and configuration USART / LAN converter Connect One, automatic detection and configuration of lasers Riftek, distance measurement according to the desired frequency and synchronization, measuring period fixed, dynamic or forced to wait for completion, communication with PC via LAN by using this protocol, visualize alarm conditions. 4 Description of the unit hardware The hardware part of the communication unit was created in three stages by RMT Paskov. Basis of unit (figure 1) is an evaluation board STM32F4VG6 Discovery from STM mounted on the expansion board equipped including power, signal distribution, UART to LAN transducer from Connect One and four half-duplex MAX3085 converters for connecting measuring devices. The second version has been designed for use in industry and component layout was modified, improved power and was retrofitted with LED signal for status display. The third option was upgraded with LCD display with touch panel safety features and the fifth power transducer MAX3085 as an alternative option to communicate with PC through this channel. Figure 1 – Prototype board for Data acquisition unit 4.1 The Nano SocketLAN Transducer Nano SocketLAN transducer allows you to connect a LAN to the device through the SPI, USART or USB. Transmission is via TCP / UDP. This is not only a simple transducer with serial transfer line to LAN. Unlike conventional transmitters from lower category, this type can be run either on the server with a web interface, or the mode of transparent communication named as "SerialNet". Configuration with AT commands from the host system, require the creation of an initialization algorithm and function to replace the local configuration of the PC. 64 4.2 Triangulation laser rangefinders RF603/485 The basic requirement for developed system was the ability to collect data from digital measurement instruments from the company Riftek. RF603 is series of short range triangulation rangefinders. They are characterized by a special binary communication protocol. Communication interface is half / full duplex RS485. Half-Duplex transducer MAX3085 is used to convert RS485 to UART. Signal flow control line cannot connect to the data line. Each Riftek device has the baud rate set to 2400 kbps multiplied by the factor 1 to 196 and network address 1 to 127 The basic requirement for the functionality of the baud rate is 115200 bps and address corresponding to the port to which the device is connected, ie. 1 to 4. When detecting, devices are gradually searched by various combinations of speed and addresses. Detection is based on attempt to read multiplier factor stored in memory of device and compare it with multiplier set on appropriate UART. Parameters needed to be written and tested gradually on device because the change takes effect immediately. After changing the baud rate multiplier is necessary to change the baud rate of the channel, and the same applies to the device address. Figure 2 – Triangulation laser rangefinders RF603 5 Development Cortex M4 processors like STM32 family are supported by wide number of development environments. Most of them are C/C++ based, but there are JAVA or .NET language IDEs too. For example, there are these representatives: uVision Keil The biggest support and lot of libraries, integrated RTOS, very good compiler/debugger, intuitive, wide number of easy accessible options and tools, lack of auxiliary editor function, Attolic True studio less intuitive, advanced modern editor, to 32kB free even for commercial purpose. Microsoft Micro Framework SDK for MS Visual Studio, C #, VB.NET, not officially for Discovery board, easier, faster programming, not a real-time. At begin the program for Data Acquisition Unit was developed in KEIL environment. It is clean, has a fast and efficient compiler, and a number of debugging tools. The disadvantage 65 of this environment is the lack of modern processor features such as syntax checking, keyword help and especially predictive lists of functions and variables. After learning the basic properties of STM32F4, the program was further developed in the Attolic Studio development environment based on Eclipse. This environment is not as intuitive as KEIL, but its complexity makes up a large amount of the above-mentioned auxiliary editing functions, working with macros, syntax checking, and reference during editing and much more. 5.1 Auxiliary software To verify the functionality of the individual parts of communication have created various helper application for Windows PC. Serial test terminal This application was originally created to verify the correct channel configuration for UART unit STM32F4. Additional features to increase the use of this application were gradually added during the development. At the end it served to: testing the proper configuration and functionality UART channels STM32F4 units connected to the PC via UART / USB converter, verify the functionality of communication with half / duplex RS485 transducers, testing communication with LAN transducers connected via UART converter / USB to PC, replacing LAN transducer in the development of the protocol LAN/STM32 in order to eliminate possible errors in the configuration of LAN transducer, testing of sensors and the development of Riftek protocol processing. TCP / IP client The client application attended for testing of LAN transducer and communication with sensors via LAN. It was used to verify the correctness of the application protocol Riftek and its encapsulation in a custom protocol in the communication chain "STM32 unit - LAN - PC". Test UART/LAN/RS485 The Applications for testing transmission of the character over UART/USB chain, UART/RS485/USB or UART/LAN chain. It monitors speed of transmission and transmission error count. The application was created due to problems with the transmission of longer chains. The original idea was the connection configuration Riftek Win32 applications using LAN and virtual serial port for exclusive access to the ports. Experiments with communication chain were: LAN - virtual port 0 - virtual port 1 – Riftek Win32 app LAN - LAN / virtual port – RiftekCfg UART / USB – virtual port 0 - virtual port 1 – Riftek Win32 app It appeared that the transmission is too slow and high latency, making it unusable. Thus was created a library for VB.net application, replacing the original configuration utility, except the data collection, which was the original application and in this configuration unnecessary. The maximum achieved transfer rate when communication between the PC and the unit STM32 was purely through from UART to LAN with http protocol was 2.2 MBps. LAN transducer was connected via UART with transfer speed 3 MBps. 66 5.2 Structure of application The basis of application is usually main() function containing the initialization part and the main program loop, and in this case also the leap into feature allows direct communication between LAN transducer and RS485 transducers. The general structure of this function is shown in figure 3. The initialization must enable internal clocks first, and then enable required buses, and then GPIO ports of STM32F4 processor. Ports are then gradually assigned to functions of UART, digital outputs for LED and signal input and control signal outputs. The following is the initialization of LAN transducer. Figure 3 – Structure of main function 5.3 Initialization of STM32F4 On figure 4 is generally shown the procedure for initializing the STM32 and peripherals. At the beginning of the UART channels are initialized and filled with structures representing the properties of these channels. This is followed by the timer and digital outputs intended for 67 half-duplex RS485 control, signaling, control signals LAN converter. The following is a limited attempt to initialize the LAN converter and detection. Figure 4 – Structure of HW initialization 8 Conclusions In this paper was presented STM32F4 Discovery evaluation board from STMicroelectronics and described its use for deployment in industry. Industrial application of the unit was for data acquisition from a RF60x series of laser range finders Riftek Company, which was part of a system for measuring the thickness of the material. It briefly describes the hardware part, application development, auxiliary software and the possibilities of development environments. Unit was successfully deployed in industry in two versions, with and without LCD, and further expansion is expected. 9 References RIFTEK Laser Triangulation Sensors RF603 Series User Manual [online]. Základ tvoří deska osazena jednočipovým mikro kontrolérem PIC16F628A-I/P. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Tyto přenosy poté byly implementovány do prostředí Me’Scope, kde byly určeny módy kmitů jejich příslušné frekvence a tlumení. 1, kde ČR je číslicový regulátor, S – regulovaná soustava, Č/A – číslicově analogový převodník, A/Č – analogově číslicový převodník, w – žádaná veličina, e – regulační odchylka, u – akční veličina, uT – tvarovaná akční veličina, y – regulovaná veličina, v a v1 – poruchové veličiny. 1, 2 a 3 zaznačeny tučnou čarou. Vyplývá to přímo z přenosu konvenčního číslicového regulátoru PID (PSD) T z T z 1 , GR ( z ) K P 1 D TI z 1 T z (1) kde KP je zesílení regulátoru, TI – integrační časová konstanta, TD – derivační časová konstanta. 92 Pro modul kmitočtového přenosu řízení (15) platí 1 Awy ( ) [(Tw ) 2 1]n , (16) a proto mezní úhlový kmitočet ωm lze určit z rovnosti 1 [(mTw ) 1] 2 n 1 1 m Tw 2 n 2 1 . Lze to částečně obejít. The purpose is to preheat the casting die on the desired temperature profile. Dynamics of such kind of systems are described by partial differential equations, which are nowadays very frequently solved by numerical methods based on finite element method. In the software environment COMSOL Multiphysics the task of modelling the temperature fields of a casting die is solved. Results of numerical solutions are exported to the MATLAB & Simulink environment, where lumped and distributed dynamic models for a control synthesis purposes are formulated. In the MATLAB & Simulink by means of blocks of DPS Blockset, feedback parameters of PID control loop are optimized according the quadratic norm of control error. Keywords: casting die, PID controller, finite element method, distributed parameter systems 1 Introduction Many systems of the real world are distributed through the space. Their dynamics depend on the time and position. Systems such as these are called distributed parameter systems (DPS). To solve them, we have to take into consideration vast spectrum of engineering applications, from modelling, identification, optimization up to design the controlling process. The behaviour of the DPS can be mathematically described by partial differential equations (PDE) as infinite-dimensional systems with regard to their environmental conditions [1], [2]. Typical examples, where the space distribution cannot be ignored are the devices in petrochemical, energetics, metallurgy, smart and vibrant structures. However, because of a finite number of actuators and sensors for practical sensing and control is at disposal, such infinite-dimensional systems need to be approximated by finite-dimensional systems. The casting technology is typical case of DPS. In order to obtain the desired structure during solidification, the process requires a specific temperature field of the die, which is defined on complex-shape 3D definition domain. For the casting process dynamic analysis as DPS, especially the temperature fields in casting die, the benchmark casting plant was designed at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering STU in Bratislava. For PID control synthesis purpose, finite-element dynamic models were created in the COMSOL Multiphysics environment. Each parameter of the controller was optimized in MATLAB-Simulink and the feedback controlling process was simulated with the help of Distributed Parameter Systems Blockset for MATLAB & Simulink, a third-party software product of The MathWorks, Inc., [3]. PID control synthesis based on optimization the quadratic norm of control error has been done. PID controller was used to control of preheating casting simulation in accordance to casting technology requirements. 103 2 Approximation models of distributed parameter systems An adequate mathematical model of the process is essential to many applications such as system analysis, numerical simulation, control design and optimization. The DPS has the time-space coupled nature described by the PDE. This spatially distributed feature requires an infinite-dimensional modelling, which is more difficult and complicated than modelling of lumped parameter systems (LPS). However, from the practice point of view the infinitedimensional systems need to be approximated by finite-dimensional systems. For this kind of problem a lot of solution methods exist. Methodical approach of time-space separation with model reduction is presented in [4]. Continuous and approximation theories aimed to parabolic systems, presents [5]. Variety examples of transfer functions for systems, described by PDE are illustrated in [6]. DPS are frequently represented in an engineering practice in the form of lumped-input/distributed-output systems (LDS) [7]. Distributed output of the linear LDS either in the time domain or in s-domain is in the following form: n n i 1 i 1 n n i 1 i 1 Y x , t Yi x , t G i ( x , t ) U i t (1) Y x , s Yi x , s Si ( x , s)U i s (2) where x ( z, y, z) is position vector in 3D space, U i t is lumped input quantity, G i ( x , t ) is i-th distributed pulse response, denotes convolution product, Yi x , t is system response to the i-th input, Si is i-th transfer function. If U i t is a unit-step (Heaviside) function, Yi x , t is in the form of distributed transient response function Hi x , t . For discrete-time system let’s consider zero-order hold (ZOH) units, the overall distributed output variable of LDS and ZOH can be expressed in the form: 5 5 i 1 i 1 Y x , k Yi x , k G Hi ( x , k ) U i k (3) For the points xi ( zi , yi , zi ) surrounded by lumped input variables U i t , where the partial distributed transient responses Hi x , t attain maximal amplitudes, partial particular distributed output variables are obtained in the time-domain and next either continuous, or discrete transfer functions are identified. (4) Yi xi , t Gi ( xi , t ) Ui t i1..n Yi xi , s Si ( xi , s)Ui s i1..n Y x , k G H ( x , k ) U k i i i i i i 1..n Yi xi , z SH i ( xi , z )U i z i 1..n (5) For the space dependency and in steady-state we can define reduced transient step responses between i-th input variable at the point xi ( zi , yi , zi ) and the corresponding partial particular distributed output variable in steady-state: HH i x , (6) HHRi x , H H x , i i i 1,n Dynamics of LDS is decomposed to time and space components. In time dependency, there are transfer functions either in the form Si ( xi , s)i 1..n , or SH i ( xi , z )i 1..n with the sampling period T. In the space direction there are HHRi x , i 1..n . 104 3 Transient thermal analysis of the casting die model For the aluminium alloy casting need, the 3D solid model of the casting die was created in the engineering simulation software (CAE) COMSOL Mutlhyphisics based on finite element method analysis (FEM). Before the casting process will held, we need to take into consideration the preheating profile in the die, Figure 1. Figure 1 - 3D solid model of the casting die and the bottom side with its active and passive elements. The core item is the two-part steel die of a complex-shape, mounted in the frame of the ejector mechanism. Inside the casting die are built in electric heated elements, copper chills and thermocouples. Location of these elements has been carefully designed in order to have the possibility of preheating the die in order to achieve desired temperature profile. The main heating circuit is divided into five independent circuits. After we assigned a properly mesh quality, we computed the temperature fields in the form of transient analyses. Actuating of heating elements was performed separately in each zone. Obtained temperature fields were analyzed by means of various forms of plots. Several results are in the Figure 2. Figure 2 – Steady state temperature field and isosurface plot in Zone#5. The lumped input variables U i i 1..5 are in the form of step functions, affected over the Zone 1-5 subdomains i i1..5 , each with its own heating elements. All necessary lumped and distributed responses were obtained from 11 data measured points, designed in CAE as thermocouples and properly placed. Figure 3 – Transient temperature in 11 measured places H5 xi , t and steady state temperature profile HHRi x , i 1..n in Zone#5. 106 Temperature fields of the die obtained by FEM solution in COMSOL were exported to Matlab-Simulink, in order to determine lumped and distributed models. Transfer functions SHi ( xi , z)i 1..5 are used to control synthesis in time domain TS and reduced transient step responses in steady-state HHRi x , i 1..5 serve as basic functions for approximation task solution in the control synthesis in space domain SS. The block HLDS models controlled distributed parameter systems as lumped-input/distributed output systems with zero-order hold units. The DPS Control Synthesis provides feedback to distributed parameter controlled systems in control loops with block for PID control, see in Figure 5. 107 Figure 5 – PID feedback control loop in DPS Blockset. Synthesis of PID controllers was adjusted in order to assure aperiodic running of the quadratic norm of distributed control error E x , k . E x, k W x, k Y x, k (12) Control process was realized for reference variable temperature given in 11 positions, where thermocouples are embedded. Various tuning relations for the PID controllers design are also presented in [8]. In this case, the optimal parameters of the PID controllers were obtained as a result of the multidimensional optimization task for criteria function (13), with respect of constraints depicted on Figure 6. N J min W x , k Y x , k (13) k 0 Figure 6 – The result of the optimization process with relevant constraints. 108 As a control variables we have chosen the saturated input voltage of heating elements ui 0 10V for i 1..5 . Performance of control, both in time and space domain is given by the quadratic norm of the distributed control error. Results of the PID control process are on Figure 7. Figure 7 – PID control of temperature field of the casting die: distributed reference variable W x , k , output variable Y x , k , control variables U i k and quadratic norm of distributed control error E x , k . 5 Conclusions On the present is actual to formulate and solve tasks of the control in various engineering branches, including the casting area, by means of methods and tools of distributed parameter systems. Methodical approach presented in the paper demonstrates simple possibilities, how to exploit the distributed dynamical characteristics on the complex definition domains, obtained by FEM modeling and identification for the PID control synthesis of DPS according to technological requirements. The key factor is to reduce manufacturing costs, shorten lead times for die developing and improve casting process and quality. 6 Acknowledgment Research funded by grants VEGA 1/0138/11 “Control of dynamic systems represented by numerical structures as distributed parameter systems”, APVV-0131-10 „High-tech solutions for technological processes and mechatronic components as controlled distributed parameter systems 109 7 References [1] BUTKOVSKIJ, Anatolij Grigorevovič: Optimal control of distributed parameter systems. Diskrétní Fourierova transformace má tedy tvar Xk N 1 x n e j 2 n k / N , k 0, 1, ..., N 1 n 0 a její inverze xn (3) 1 N N 1 X k e j 2 n k / N , n 0,1, ...,N 1 (4) k 0 kde N vyjadřuje počet vzorků signálu. 9 Reference BROUGHTON, S.
