Bohemian ΠSaxon Switzerland
Czech Switzerland
This region is very good especially for hiking lovers. It offers manytouristic trails leading through the scenery
of the rocky towns, themesas, the passes, deep gorges and hillsides. While walking through thecountryside
you may find the fossils of former sea animals. You will befascinated by an articulation of the landscape as

well as the picturesquenature games you can find at every turn. Although it´s the lowest place inthe Czech
republic, you will feel like being in the mountains. Your tripcan become perfect when you stay over in some of
the local cosy pensionsor hotels. Thank to the local articulation we recommend this area forbikers who love
more exacting terrain.
Fortresses and Castles
Small castle Sokolí hnízdo (Falcon´s nest)
It's difficult to imagine Pravčicka gate without the small castle, Sokolí hnizdo. At the start of tourism in the
Pravčická area there was a house, covered in rind, which served as a bar. Then, in 1818, Prince Edmund
Clary-Aldringen, the owner of the manor, commissioned the castle Sokoli Hinizdo to be built.

Děčín´s castle and Rose garden
oblasti, tzv. Děčínské provincie.

Chřibský hrádek (Dolní Karlštejn)
From the top of the former castle you can have a very nice view of the surrounding area. In the southeast you
can see Chřibský hill and in the south Studenec hill. Chřibsk.castle was probably established in the 14th
century by the Michalovec´s clan. As well as other castles in the region, this one was built as a protection for
tradesmen going towards Lužice. Location: 2 kms northwest from Chřibská Severozápadně od Chřibské

The access to the ruined castle is very interesting experience. The trail leads through narrow paths in the
rocks and up steep stairs. At the top you are rewarded with a beautiful view. This castle is considered the
largest of the castles in the region built for the protection of the trade routes. It is also the most mysterious
one because of its past. The castle is said to be built in the 14th century. The castle was surrounded by two
moats and a wooden wall. It was impossible to get a carriage inside. The castle's height reached probably 40
metres.

Gate. It is only 2.3 meters high, 3.3 meters wide and 1 to 1.5 meters long. Despite that it is really an
interesting place to visit on your walks through this picturesque scenery. On the way there, following the red
tourist trail, you can also visit lots of viewpoints e.g. Mary´s and Vilemín´s view point or Rudolf´s stone.
Location: North of Vysoká Lípa Directions: From Jetřichovice follow the red tourist trail to Mezní Louka. On

Mariina Vyhlídka
There used to be a magical view from Mary´s viewpoint. There used to a stand high on the rocks it was a
wooden arbor. Unfortunately the arbor was burnt in September 2005. Fortunately the fire didn´t spread
further. Hopefully there will be a new viewpoint in a short time. Mary´s viewpoint was built by the
Kinski´family. The Kinski´family also built Vilemin´s viewpoint and Rudolf´s stone.
Location: Jetřichovice Direction: From Jetřichovice follow the red tourist trail.
Rudolfův kámen
The viewpoint as well as the Mary´s and Vilemín´s viewpoint was built by Kinski´family in the first half of the
19th century. It used to be called "A high stone" because of its thrust above the other rocks near Jetřichovice.
There is a very nice view of the town from the top. Location: Jetřichovice Direction: There is a path with the
stone stairs at its end leading to the top. The walk is difficult. Opening hours: Open throughout the year
Pastýřská stěna
This romantic imitation of a castle was built on a high rock 150 meters above the left bank of the Elbe River.
From the castle there is a wonderful view of Děčín and its castle that stands high on a rock on the opposite
bank of the Elbe. Directions: By car, bike or on foot go directly to the restaurant on Teplická st. You turn to
Husova st. At the zoo garden there is a sign showing how to get to Pastýřská stěna.

Rozhledna Chlum
The 16 meter high view tower, Velký Chlum, is situated on the hill of the same name at the 508ms altitude. It
was built in 1928 and 1929 by The Mountain Club of Bohemian Switzerland. In 1997 the view tower was
rebuilt and opened to the public. It gives a nice view of Děčín and the Elbe river. You can see as far as the
tops of Czech středohoří and also the German side of Saxon Switzerland. You can see Grosser Zschirnstein
and Grosser Winterberg. Directions: Take the bus line no. 2 to the final stop, Staré město, From there you
walk across the railway crossing. Follow the red trail markers up to the Chlum view tower. To get back to
Děčín you can follow the yellow trail to Boletice where you get on the bus line no. 9 or you can continue from
Chlum to the ruined castle Vrabinec in Těchlovice from where you can also get bus line no. 9. Opening
hours: All day. No admission fee.
Belveder
There is an amazing bird's eye view from The Belveder. You can see the Elbe canyon, a huge valley
surrounded by high rocks with the Elbe River flowing through. In the summertime, at evenings, when the sky
is painted with so many beautiful colors, it's a magical place. Maybe that was one reason why František
Clary-Aldringen had the terrace built (1701 - 1711). Opening hours: View from the terrace: no admission
Restaurant: January to February opened only on Saturdays and Sundays 11:00 to 16:00. March to
December opened Wednesday to Sunday 11:00 to 21:00.
Růžovský vrch
This 619 metre hill is sometimes called "Děčínská Fudžijama" because of its bulk and dominating presents in
the countryside. Nowadays you get only a limited view while climbing the hill-side because the trees which
burned off in the early 20th century have grown back. The climb up the hill is actually a very interesting
experience. Today "Růžák", as the hill is called by local people, belongs to the 1st zone of the national park.
During the Napoleanic wars the observation point was built on the top. In the end of the 19th century the
owner, Clary-Aldringen, had a view-tower built along with a pub to serve tourists from far and wide. Then in
the 1930´s everything was burned and left in ruin. So today you can find only a few chared remains.
Romantic places

Czech Switzerland
Dolský mlýn
In the canyon of The Kamenice River you can find a romantic place, the ruins of a former mill. The mill is well
known mainly from the fairy tale "A proud princess". The surroundings of the mill and the Kamenice river
make for a very charming place. In summer the sun shines through the thick tree tops, you can see lots of
fish in a crystal clear water and the whole place makes you feel your in a fairy tale. Location: 1 km from
Vysoká Lípa, 3 km west of Jetřichovice and 1 km east of Kamenické hillsides. Directions: From Vysoká Lípa
and Srbská Kamenice follow the blue tourist trail, from Kamenická hillside the green one and from
Jetřichovice the yellow one. Opening hours: Open throughout the year.
Zadní Doubice
It is a former settlement at the confluence of the Křinice river and Brtnický stream. On the Czech side there
are only a few rooms left; hewen from the rock On German side there is only one house left. Not far from
here there is a border pass for walkers from Krásná Lípa to Hintershermsdorfu.
The dwarf´s cave (Trpaslíčí jeskyně)
It is not hard to climb up the hillside where there Snow White and the seven dwarves are carved in the rock.
This charming place can be found near the road from Rynartice to Jetřichovice. In 1833 the sculptor Ernest
Wahr carved these figures in the rock. It is a fun game to find all the seven dwarves. But we cannot
guarantee that you find them all even thought they are not far from each other and they are colored. You find
them in the most unexpected places and when you least expect them. It will be difficult to find them all but
you definitely can.
Kyjovské údolí
Kyjovské valley can be found in Křinice canyon between Kyjov and a former settlement, Zadní Doubice. You
can get a sense of the former castles and mills that were once active in the area. You can also go swimming
in the dam or visit several viewpoints. Just walk through the deep woods as far as the German border, to
Zadní Doubice. The way is criss-crossed by many tourist and cycling trails.
Jeskyně víl
On the right bank of the Křinice river not far from Doubice there is a rock overhang with underground spaces
where you can find the icicles and ice curtains in winter. This place is accessible throughout the year.
Hopefully you will be lucky enough to find this icy kingdom.

Tokáň
A former gamekeeper's lodge and a few log cabins in an alpine style in Jetřichovické nowdays offers a
romantic accommodation and a very pleasant restaurant. You can stop by while walking through the rock
towns and the beautiful nature of the national park of Bohemian Switzerland. We will be pleased to arrange
the accommodation for you in one of the log cabins. The restaurant is opened throughout the year. The
terrace is opened during summer.
Myší díra
here is a path leading from the beautiful place ,Na Tokáni, over a narrow stairs to the "Mouse Hole". Even in
the 19th century a lot of tourists came to master the "Mouse Hole". It is not easy to climb the narrow path up
the rock but if succeed it will be unforgettable experience. For the less adventures there is also an easier
way. It is not so interesting but it's safer.
Suchá Kamenice
This is a small stream where the water flows only from autumn to spring. In the stream there are lots of
stones and boulders and they create a small waterfall. In winter this place is so magical. The water is frozen
here and there and makes wonderful icewalls. The whole place is very peaceful and romantic even in
summer when the stream is usually dry.
Directions: The best way to get to Dry Kamenice is to follow the red tourist trail starting in Hřensko. Go for
about 1 kilometer and then continue on through the canyon up the Labská hillside where you can visit a
wonderfull tourist restaurant with a terrace. Or you can change the direction and from the river´s canyon
follow the blue touristic trail leading to Arnoltice.
Vlčí deska (Wolf´s Desk)
In the 17th century someone carved out of the rock a stone desk and hewn onto it a story of a huntsman who
killed two wolves. For a time this stone desk was hidden and lost to us because of a fallen tree. After some
time the desk and the mystic story were discovered again. The huntsman's descendants still live in the region
and maintain the desk so they and other people can read the story again and again and again. The trail to
the Wolf's desk leads through Kyjovské valley, the canyon of Křinice river. It is famous for its beauty.

Lookouts
Děčínský Sněžník
At a height of 723 meters, Děčínský Sněžník rieses about the town of Děčín. It is located on the highest mesa
in the country. There is a view tower on the mountian with the same name as the mountain itself, Děčínský
Sněžník. Děčínský Sněžník is attractive not only for the magical view of Lužické mountains and Czech Saxon
Switzerland but also for its unique air quality. Thanks to the thermal air currents around the mesa, the local
air mixes with winds blown in from the north sea. The dry thermals mixed with the fresh sea air make for an
especially healthy air quality. The local people refer to the area as an "air spa"
Directions:
By car you go 1.5kms to the view tower (either from Děčín or Jílové u děčína). You will find a paid parking
