Metodický pokyn
Materiál je určen k procvičování slovní zásoby a
praktických komunikačních dovedností v oblasti sociální
péče – Drogové závislosti (ESP – English for specific
purposes – Social Care)
Žáci pracují s daným materiálem nejprve individuálně a
potom téma probírají ve skupině. Mohou použít slovník.
Součástí vzdělávacího materiálu je i metodický list pro
učitele s klíčem.
Drug addictions
Drugs have accompanied humans for very long time. In some areas they can make the life more
bearable for people – e.g. coca leaves help people survive in big altitudes. They are a part of various
rituals or festive events. However, they can also be abused and then they become a problem. We often
speak about social and asocial drugs – for example alcohol versus heroin, or hard and soft drugs – for
example cocaine and marihuana. Some addictions are dangerous above all because they destroy our
health, for example addiction to tobacco but some addictions influence negatively our whole life and
people are not able to lead a normal life anymore. Then the only chance is abstinence. Even before the
decision to stop using drugs we work with the addicts. We want to lower the risks for their health and
also to protect other people from diseases the addicts can transmit. Treatment is usually long because
the person must get rid of the physical and psychological addiction and also to learn to live a normal
life again. The good news is most people usually decide to stop with drugs. However, some of them
die before reaching this decision.
