In a detector intended for energy dispersive XRF, the height of the pulse produced is proportional to the energy of the respective incoming X-ray. Signal to Electronics Element A Element B Element C Element D DETECTOR Multi-Channel Analyser • Detector current pulses are translated into counts (counts per second, “CPS”). • Pulses are segregated into channels according to energy via the MCA (Multi-Channel Analyser).
