Charakteristika obsahu předmětu
Objective of this course is to acquaint prospective architects and civil engineers with effective method of creation 3D
CAD or BIM model, that is base for 2D and 3D documentation. Students must prove they can use basic tools and
functions of the software ArchiCAD on simple proposal of family house or another appropriate building.

Student – prospective architect or civil engineer can use ArchiCAD effectively for design purposes, with reqiured
outputs (documentation for building permit isue etc.).

1 – Introduction to ArchiCAD, drawing and modification of 2D objects, transfer of parameters, magic wand
2 – BIM, navigation in 3D space, storey setting and using, parametric objects - walls and slabs
3 – Global and local/custom coordinate system, operation with groups of objects, doors and windows
4 – Library parts - furniture, building equipment and other objects. Manipulating and modification of objects.
Import of most common raster and vector file formats.
5 – Sections, elevations, 3D cutaway, references, copying objects in floors
6 – Creating roofs – manual and automatic techniques, connection to walls and other objects
7 – Staircases, columns and beams
8 – Dimensioning, mesh tool (terrain)
9 – Project map, view map, paper space, publication, zone tool, operations with layers
10 – Shell and morph tool
11 – Visualization, rendering methods - sketch, cinerender and internal engine. Materials, lighting.
12 – Export of 2D and 3D documentation, printing, plotting, BIM Explorer

Charakteristika obsahu předmětu
The subject enhances and develops skills acquired in the basic course 129ACM1. The course is focused on methods and
tools for creating complicated shapes and library elements, including GDL language.

Ability to model architectural elements and details of complicated shapes, such as vaults, ledges, volutes, chambranles,
furniture etc. using ArchiCAD.

The semester programme is organized to introduce students to the architectural design process, simulating all its
phases of the process with certain level of simplification: analysis and understanding of the assignment, formulating of
the concept, design proposal, oral and graphic presentation etc.

Charakteristika obsahu předmětu
Ve cvičeních AK2 se studenti učí správně vnímat a „vidět“ tvary a hmotu ve vzájemných proporčních vztazích,
prostorových souvislostech, v měřítku a vizuální perspektivě. Modelem jsou nejprve sestavy geometrických těles,
posléze doplněné draperií a jinými objekty. Posluchač se učí rozvrhnout a optimálně umístit kresbu do formátu a
pomocí vizování, horizontu a úběžníků budovat výslednou kompozici. Souvislá průprava napomáhá pokroku v zacházení
s tužkou a současně v profilování osobního rukopisu. Cílem je rozvíjet prostorové vidění a získat zručnost v kresbě a
skicování, která je jako komunikační prostředek při zhotovování architektonických návrhů nepostradatelná. Stálá
pozornost je věnována aspektům tvaru a hmoty v prostoru, vyjádření světla a stínů, plastičnosti, struktury a rozlišení
materiálů.

The aim of DS 1 is a design of a residential building in the context of a specific location with real
circumstances, including an adequate cultivation of the surroundings.
The studio activities’ goal is the comprehension of the process of architectural design, and the improvement
of creative, technical, communication and presentation skills of the students.
In the DS 1 studio, the students work in international teams of 2 or 3 people. They deal with the semester
assignment together, discussing ideas and concepts, bringing into the project the experience from their home
universities, together they prepare presentations. At the end of the semester the students submit their
semestral work in an extent similar to the rest of the students’ of the Department of Architecture.
A four-day workshop in the Faculty’s educational center in Telč is part of the curriculum.
Free-hand sketches true-to scale are expected as well as verification of variant designs on axonometric and
perspective sketches, and working models. The result of the team semestral work is an architectural study
including the basic construction and material solution.

the emphasis on the space concept, logic and the clarity of basic lay-out functions.

01 Assignment of the semestral project – the explanation of spatial, urban and functional contexts, typology
and collective survey of the sight.
02 Collective analyses of the sight – spatial contexts, surrounding environment, the specifics of the sight –
scale, orientation and sun exposure, ecological aspects. Background research on current architecture along
with the analysis of the function and typology in the form of a team presentation in connection with the studio
assignment, a discussion on the topic.
03 - 09 Defining of the concept and architectural design of the building – search for the lay-out and spatial
contexts, confirmation of the building’s scale and proportions in the form of perspective sketches and working
models.
First presentation – concept approval.
Architectural design – basic construction and technic solution of the building, architectural, material and color
solution.
10 - 12 Second presentation and finishing of the architectural design.
13 – Work on the final presentation – graphic set-up of the poster and sketchbook, finishing of the physical
model. The final blueprints may be a combination of computer and graphic hand drawings.

Cinema4D. Introduction to Cinema4D GUI, model representation (analytic, polygonal), basic concepts of model
creation (box modeling, mesh editing, NURBS), model and submodel hierarchy, deformators, instances, Boolean
operations. Materials, textures, methods of texture mapping, BodyPaint basics. Rendering - basic methods and
settings.

Assignments differ depending on whether they relate to students of architecture or of non-architectural fields. In order
to pass the course and earn credits students have to attend at least 9 seminars.
Students of architecture fields of study:
The assignment will be to choose two examples of architecture or urban design - one historical and one contemporary.
At least one of the assessed buildings must be located in Prague. The second building should be located in the
students’ country of origin.
The content of project:
- Obtaining / collection of basic information about the history of the building (both from literature and Internet and
their own research in situ)
- Assortment of the photo and plan documentation, simplification of the design documentation for the specific purpose
(graphical representation in the form of diagram, drawings, simplified plan)
- Student’s own analysis of basic ordering principles (a geometric basis for organizing the forms and spaces of a building

Assignments differ depending on whether they relate to students of architecture or of non-architectural fields.
Students of architecture fields of study:
The assignment will be to choose two examples of architecture or urban design - one historical and one contemporary.
At least one of the assessed buildings must be located in Prague. The second building should be located in the
students’ country of origin.
The content of project:
- Obtaining / collection of basic information about the history of the building (both from literature and Internet and
their own research in situ)
- Assortment of the photo and plan documentation, simplification of the design documentation for the specific purpose
(graphical representation in the form of diagram, drawings, simplified plan)
- Student’s own analysis of basic ordering principles (a geometric basis for organizing the forms and spaces of a building
or space in terms of symmetry / asymmetry, hierarchy, rhythm, gradation, proportion and scale). A separate chart /
plan will be used for each category.

Charakteristika obsahu předmětu
Lectures are focused on how has Prague developed over time and on its most important historical and contemporary
architectural monuments and sites. The lectures are designed to teach students to distinguish basic architectural styles,
to learn a basic terminology of distinctive architectural elements and features (each student will receive a list of English
terms for each lecture) and to be able to understand the development of the architectural concept (of layout, spatial
and structural solutions, composition, symbolic meaning etc.). Thus architecture will be presented in its connections to
the social, economical, cultural life-style development and to the general theory of architecture. Great attention will be
paid to the Prague Historic Reserve, which is part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage. The basic principles of the
conservation policy will be also analyzed with selected examples.

The task in this design studio is focused on those types of buildings which the structures has largely affects the overall
solution, or may become a source of inspiration or even a significant element in the architectural design. The students
present their solution in the form of architectural study, together with the design concepts, sketches and details of
selected structure parts as well as some basic calculations. An important part of development of project design is
physical models. Foreign and Czech students are teaching together in order to get opportunity to debate architectonic
issues.

Charakteristika obsahu předmětu
Hlavní náplní předmětu je proces architektonického návrhu zadaného konkrétního interieru, hledání a volba prostředků
prostorové tvorby k dosažení optimálního výsledku vzhledem k funkci a zamýšlenému estetickému vyznění. Součástí
projektu je řešení detailu.
Cource content is interior design of a given space, application of different means of architectural creation to the
purpose - to reache an aestetical space effect in relation to the function. Solving of architectural details withing
particulal situation is the part of the work.
Požadovaná dovednost / znalost studenta po absolvování předmětu
Cílem je dosažení schopnosti kreativní tvorby prostoru různých typů interieru, schopnosti citlivé volby a užití materiálů,
barev, povrchových úprav a dlaších prostředků k vytvoření předpokládaného optimálního prostředí.
Goals of the cource is to achieve abilities to create various types of interior spaces, gaining the ability for sensitive use
of materials, colours, surfaces, textures and other means to create desired funtional and aestetical form of interior
space.
