The Museum of Applied Arts
of the Moravian Gallery in Brno
Uměleckoprůmyslové muzeum bylo založeno v roce 1873. Je jednou z pěti budov,
které spravuje Moravská galerie v Brně. Roku 1961 bylo sloučeno s obrazárnou
Moravského zemského muzea a vznikla Moravská galerie v Brně jako muzeum umění
spojující sbírky volného a užitého umění. V nově zrekonstruované budově Uměleckoprůmyslového muzea návštěvníci uvidí stálou expozici užitého umění od středověku
po začátek 20. století.
Das Kunstgewerbemuseum wurde 1873 gegründet. Es ist eines von fünf Gebäuden in der Verwaltung der Mährischen Galerie in Brünn. 1961 wurde es mit der
Gemäldegalerie des Mährischen Landesmuseums zusammengeschlossen, damit
entstand die Mährische Galerie in Brünn als Kunstmuseum, das die Sammlungen
der freien und angewandten Kunst vereint. Im neu restaurierten Gebäude des
Kunstgewerbemuseums sehen die Besucher die Dauerausstellung der angewandten
Kunst vom Mittelalter bis zum beginnenden 19. Jahrhundert.
The Museum of Applied Arts was founded in 1873. It is one of the five buildings
administered by the Moravian Gallery in Brno. In 1961 it merged with the picture
gallery of the Moravian Museum and the Moravian Gallery in Brno arose as museum
of arts putting together collections of free and applied art. In the newly remodelled
building of the Museum of Applied Arts the visitor will see a permanent exhibition
of applied arts dating from the Middle Ages to the early 20th century.
