1. den
Studenti z českého Gymnázia v Rumburku a studenti z německého Gymnázia v Ellwangen se již tradičně sešli na mezinárodním projektu POL&IS . POL&IS je strategická geopolitická hra.
Studenti ve tříčlenných týmech, skládajících se z hlavy vlády, ministra financí a ministra obrany, zastupují jednotlivé regiony světa.
Pracovním jazykem je angličtina. Hru vedou důstojníci Bundeswehru.
V pondělí 15. listopadu jsme dorazili do malého lázeňského městečka v Bavorsku Bad Kötzting. Ubytovaní jsme byli na
2-4 lůžkových pokojích. První společný večer jsme se sešli
v pracovní místnosti, kde jsme si vylosovali svoje pozice. Na výběr
byly 3 funkce: ministr obrany (Secretary of Defense), ministr financí (Secretary of Commerce) a předseda vlády (Head of Government). Secretary of Commerce měl na starost veškeré ekonomické
hospodaření regionu. Secretary of Defense uzavíral pakty a smlouvy a také umisťoval vojáky na mapu. Head of Government byl
jakási „tvář“ regionu a měl na starost hlavně podpisy smluv a reprezentaci regionu. Kromě zástupců států vystupovali ve hře i zástupci Organizace spojených národů (OSN), Greenpeace a světový tisk
(World Press), informující o dění ve světě.Společný večer byl v duchu
seznamování s pravidly hry a s německými studenty. Ta pravá
„bitva“ začala až následující den po snídani.
in Bavaria Bad Kötzting. We stayed in 2-4 bedrooms. The first
night we met together in the work room where we allotted our
positions. We could choose from 3 roles: The Secretary of
Commerce, Secretary of Defense and Head of Government. Secretary of Commerce was responsible for the economic activities
of the region. Secretary of Defense signed contracts and placed
strategic units on the world map. The Head of Government was the
main representative of each region. In addition to state representatives in the game, the representatives of the United Nations (UN),
Greenpeace and World Press, reporting on the world events, took
part, too. The common spirit of the evening had a combination
of the rules of the game and getting-to-know activities. The true
“battle” began the following day after breakfast.

1st Day
Students of the Czech Gymnasium in Rumburk and the
students of German Gymnasium in Ellwangen met at the international project POL&IS, according to tradition. POL&IS is a strategic geopolitical game. Teams consist of three persons and they
are: the Head of Government, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Defence and the teams represent different regions of the
world. The common working language is English. Bundeswehr
officers lead the game.
On Monday 15 November we arrived at the small spa town

Schon seit Jahren haben sich tschechische Schüler vom
Gymnasium Rumburk und deutsche Schüler vom Gymnasium Ellwangen bei dem internationalen Projekt POL&IS getroffen. POL&IS ist ein strategisches politisches Spiel. Das Spiel
besteht aus vielen Gruppen mit jeweils 3 Mitgliedern - Ministerpräsident, Verteidigungsminister und Finanzminister - und
jede Gruppe vertritt eine Region der Welt. Jeder muss Englisch
sprechen. Die Leiter des Spiels sind Soldaten von Bundeswehr.
Am Montag dem 15.11. sind wir in ein kleines Städtchen
Namens Bad Kötzting in Bayern angekommen. Wir wurden
in unterschiedliche Zimmer eingeteilt mit jeweils 2-4 Zimmergenossen. Den ersten Abend haben wir uns in einem kleinen Raum
getroffen, wo wir unsere Positionen ausgelost haben. Wir hatten
3 Möglichkeiten: Verteidigungsminister (Secretary of Defense),
Finanzminister (Secretary of Commerce) und Ministerpräsident
(Head of Government). Der Verteidigungsminister kümmerte
sich um Militärpakte und setzte die Soldaten auf die Landkarte.
Der Finanzminister kümmerte sich um die Wirtschaft seiner Region. Der Ministerpräsident war der Repräsentant der Region. Bei
dem Spiel waren auch Mitglieder von den Vereinten Nationen (UN),
Greenpeace und Weltpresse (World Press) dabei, die viel über den
Alltag und die Arbeit berichteten. Der gemeinsame Abend war sehr
friedlich und dazu gedacht, dass wir uns näher kennenlernen und
dass wir uns mit den Spielregeln vertraut machen. Die wirkliche
Schlacht begann erst am nächsten Tag nach dem Frühstück.

Druhý den našeho pobytu jsme měli velmi nabitý program.
Ráno jsme vstávali v 7 hodin, protože snídaně byla již od 8.00.
Po snídani nás čekal krátký odpočinek a od 9.00 jsme měli
první schůzku tohoto dne. Poté, co jsme si předchozího dne
vybrali příslušné role, jsme si nyní vylosovali region, který budeme zastupovat. Po tomto rozřazení nás čekalo mnoho úmorného
vstřebávání informací ohledně pravidel. Pravidla byla složitá a téměř nikdo je nepochopil napoprvé.
Po alespoň částečném pochopení pravidel přišly první povinnosti. Sec of Commerce musel plánovat investice a výrobu na další rok
a tím zabezpečit stát po ekonomické stránce. Sec of Defense musel
rozmístit vojenské jednotky po mapě a dohodnout první smlouvy.
Head of Government tyto smlouvy poté potvrzoval a připravoval si
řeč o vývoji státu za poslední rok. Po této fázi nastala pauza na oběd.
Po pauze se rozjely obchody mezi státy. A protože většina
regionů neměla dostatek surovin pro pokrytí svých potřeb, začaly
první obchody mezi regiony naplno. Tyto obchody měl na starost
Sec of Commerce.
Po uzavření obchodů, mezinárodních smluv proběhla poslední
fáze - reprezentace jednotlivých regionů svého hospodaření před
ostatními regiony. Toto vše skončilo v 18.00.
Tento den byl maximálně vyčerpávající, a tak jsme se těšili na
večeři, která vůbec nesplnila naše očekávání. Po večeři zasloužený
odpočinek a sladký spánek.
2nd Day
Our second day was very busy. We woke up at 7 am because
breakfast was served from 8 am.
After breakfast we had a short break and at 9:00 we had the
first meeting on that day. After we had chosen our roles on the
previous day, we were now assigned to a particular region. Then
we had to concentrate on the explanation of the rules. It took ages
and no one got it correctly for the first time, because the rules
were really difficult.
After we had (partly) understood the guidelines, our first duties
called. The Secretary of Commerce had to plan the investment
and production. The Secretary of Defense had to sign the first
contracts and place units on the strategic map of the world. The
Head of Government had to prepare a speech about our first
POLIS year. Then we finally had a lunch break.
After this short break, the next stage of the simulation started.
For no region had enough resources, we needed to start trading.
So, the first international trade began. The trading was led by
the Secretary of Commerce.
After making deals and treaties, the last stage started - representation of each region in front of other regions. All that finished
at 6 pm. This day was really exhausting and all of us were looking forward to dinner. Unfortunately, the dinner disappointed our
expectations a lot! After dinner, we had a well-earned rest and
then - beauty sleep.

2. Tag
An unserem zweiten Tag hatten wir viel Arbeit. Morgen sind
wir um 7 Uhr aufgestanden, weil das Frühstück schon ab 8 Uhr
serviert wurde.
Nach dem Frühstück hatten wir eine Weile Pause und um 9:00
hatten wir unser erstes Treffen an diesem Tag. Als wir am vorherigen Tag die Rollen ausgelost hatten, verlosten wir jetzt die Regionen, welche wir vertreten sollten. Nach dieser Einteilung kam die
anstrengende Vorstellung der Regeln. Die Regeln waren wirklich
kompliziert, kaum jemand hat sie beim ersten Mal verstanden.
Als wir die Regeln (teilweise) verstanden hatten, kamen die
ersten Pflichten. Der Finanzminister musste Investitionen und
Herstellung für das nächste Jahr planen. Der Verteidigungsminister musste erste Soldatengruppen auf die Landkarte stellen und
erste Verträge aushandeln. Der Ministerpräsident musste diese
Verträge unterschreiben und er musste eine Rede über die Entwicklung seiner Region vorbereiten. Dann war Zeit fürs Mittagsessen.
Nach dieser kleinen Pause haben wir die ersten Geschäfte begonnen. Weil alle Regionen wenig Material für den eigenen Bedarf
hatten, haben die Geschäfte voll begonnen.
Nach der Beendung des Handels war Zeit für den letzten Punkt
am diesem Tag - die Repräsentation. Alle Regionen mussten ihre
eigene Herstellung vorstellen. Das Ganze endete um 18 Uhr.
Dieser Tag war sehr anstrengend, und so freuten wir uns aufs
Abendsessen, welches aber unsere Erwartungen nicht erfüllt hat!
Nach dem Abendessen kam die verdiente Pause und dann – ab ins
Bett.

V pátek poslední den našeho pobytu v Německu jsme museli
dohrát poslední, v již pořadí čtvrtý rok, našeho virtuálního světa
a bylo akorát tak na čase. Ekonomika některých států nebyla zrovna v nejlepších číslech, politická situace se razantně změnila. Státy, které jsou spolu znepřátelené, se spřátelily, a nové konflikty byly
vyvolány podle sympatií pracovních skupin.
Loučili jsme se neradi, vyměnili jsme si kontakty, které nadále
udržujeme. Na desátou hodinu dopolední nám byl přistaven autobus
a my se vydali na zpáteční cestu.
A co nám projekt dal nebo naopak vzal? Nevzal nám vůbec
nic! Procvičili jsme si angličtinu i němčinu, vykoupali jsme se v
městských lázních, našli nové kamarády a hlavně pro nás projekt
POL&IS byla úplně nová zkušenost. Poznali jsme, že mezinárodní
vztahy jsou mnohem složitější, než jsme si mysleli, že vše nejde
zrealizovat hned a z některých situací jsme sami jen těžko hledali
východiska.
5th Day
On Friday, the last day of our stay in Germany, we had to
finish the fourth (and last) year of our virtual world and it was
just in time. Some economies were not exactly in favourable numbers, with the political situation changed dramatically.
Countries that were hostile to friendly relations, as well as new
conflicts, were caused by the work groups in good nature.
We did not like to say good-bye, but we exchanged
contacts which are still maintained. At ten o‘clock in the mor-
ning our bus was prepared and we went on the return journey.
And what did the project give and take from us? It did not take
anything from us! We practiced our English and German, bathed
in the spa town, found new friends, and especially, the project
POL&IS was a completely new experience for us. We have learnt
that international relations are more complicated than we thought
that everything does not take effect immediately, and from some
of the situations we sometimes found it difficult to find a way out.
5. Tag
Freitag war unsere letzte Chance, das Spiel zu beenden, weil
es in unserer virtuellen Welt schon das 4.Jahr war und es höchste
Zeit war, unsere letzte Rede zu halten. Die Wirtschaft in manchen
Ländern war in keiner guten Verfassung, die politische Situation hat sich unter unserer Führung sehr verändert. Die Länder,
die sich bekämpften, haben sich vertragen und neue Konflikte
sind mit den Sympathien anderer Länder hervorgerufen worden.
Der Abschied war für uns alle sehr schwer, zum Glück tauschten
wir Adressen aus, um in Konflikt zu bleiben. Um 10 Uhr kam
der Bus, um uns abzuholen, und wir fuhren zurück nach Hause.
Was hat uns also das Projekt gegeben oder genommen?
Genommen hat es uns nichts! Wir hatten die Chance, Englisch
und Deutsch zu sprechen, gingen ins Schwimmbad, fanden neue
Freunde und das Wichtigste war, dass POL&IS eine neue
Erfahrung für uns war. Wir haben herausgefunden, dass die
Internationalen Situationen nicht so leicht, wie wir gedacht haben,
sondern viel schwerer sind. Es war für uns schwierig, in manchen
Konflikten die richtige Lösung zu finden.
