Metodický pokyn
Materiál je určen k procvičování praktických
komunikačních dovedností v oblasti ošetřování
nemocných – seznámení pacienta s inzulinovým perem
(ESP – English for specific purposes – Nursing)
Žáci pracují s daným materiálem ve dvojicích. Mohou
použít slovník. Součástí vzdělávacího materiálu je i
metodický list pro učitele s klíčem.
TASK SHEET 25 – Health and Hygiene
Introducing a patient to an insulin pen
NURSE: Hello, Mr. Finch. I’ll show you how to use your insulin pen now.
PATIENT: Fine.
NURSE: Before we start we’ll _____________our hands. I have everything ready here on the trolley.
… First take the ______________ off the insulin pen.
PATIENT: OK.
NURSE: Now, use an alcohol wipe to ______________this end and screw the needle onto it.
PATIENT: Like this?
NURSE: That’s right. Now, you have to prime the pen and dial the _______________ of insulin.
PATIENT: Right. I need 10 units.
NURSE: Now pinch up some skin on your stomach so it is easier to ______________the insulin. Hold
the pen up and inject into the raised skin.
PATIENT: OK. I’ve got it.
NURSE: Finally, hold in the button at the end of the pen and ______________to five so all the insulin
goes in. … That’s it! And now you just put the pen away until you need it next time.
