Introduction
The Petzl story began in caves. Fernand Petzl spent much of his life exploring passages
deep underground. At the same time he experimented with new vertical-progression
techniques and equipment that would go on to revolutionize caving and allow him to
break the world depth record in the 1950s. Over the years, Petzl adapted these tools and
solutions for use in other vertical environments, both recreational and professional, all
the while continuing to innovate.
Today, our product-development process remains true to a few simple core
values: keeping close to and valuing our customers, developing innovative and practical
approaches, and creating only the highest quality solutions.
It is in this spirit that we’re working to meet the needs of tree care specialists. We’ve
already combined close collaboration with numerous arborists from around the world
with Petzl’s know-how to create smart, reliable solutions for movement and work in
trees.
Now, Petzl is proud to introduce two new work helmet lines: the lightweight ALVEO and
the exceptionally comfortable VERTEX. In addition, the new SEQUOIA SWING is an
innovative seat harness with an integrated, adjustable rigid seat. The following pages

A closer look at the new products for 2011
A cut-away of the new ALVEO helmet shows the
internal expanded polystyrene foam liner that helps to
reduce weight and provide excellent protection.
The two adjustment wheels of the CenterFit system
allow very easy adjustment of the helmet, even with
gloved hands, while ensuring a perfect centering of the
helmet on the head.
The chinstrap and buckle closure are designed to limit
the risk of losing the helmet in case of a fall.
