Hermés byl poslem bohů, přinášel jejich vzkazy z
Olympu a ihned je také vykonával. Dále byl průvodcem
mrtvých do podsvětí, ochránce obchodníků a poutníků.
Byl považován za nejvynalézavějšího a nejobratnějšího
boha. Jeho atributy byly hůl obtočená hady, klobouk a
okřídlené sandály, které mu umožňovaly rychlé cestování.
Hermes was a messenger of gods bearing their messages
from the Olympus and performing them immediately. He
was a guide of the deceased to the underworld, a protector
of merchants and pilgrims. He was considered as the most
inventive and skilful god. His attributes were a caduceus
entwined by serpents, a hat and winged sandals which
enabled fast travelling.
