Jejich sledem vzniká
metaforický pohyb, který lze
popsat jako pohyb z vnějšku
města do jeho středu či
směřování k moci, vědomí a
konci. Každý oddíl má své
téma a představitele. Ve
filmu vystupuje 21 osobností především z oblasti současného umění, noisové hudby či politického
aktivismu (Vladimír Skrepl, Vladimír 518, Advance design, Birds built nests underground, Ondřej
Slačálek, Petr Krejzek, Michal Viewegh a jiní). Film 31/ konců / 31 začátků je o Praze ve fázi zrcadla.
Autorství filmu je stejně jako veškerá tvorba umělecké skupiny Rafani kolektivní.
Položili jste si někdy otázky: Kde končí a začíná Praha? Kde je střed? Jaká její struktura? Má svou
skrytou, do tmy nevědomí ponořenou tvář? Je možné vzít svůj život a přiložit ho k pojmu města?
Neproměňuje se plnost a bohatství v nicotu a prach? Kdy a kde je osvícenský rozum skutečně v
koncích? Kdyby někdo říkal, že umělecká skupina Rafani svým filmem na tyto otázky zkusila
odpovědět, nevěřte mu. Základem filmu 31 konců / 31 počátků je pohyb. Tak jako dítě přeskakuje z
kamene na kámen, když chce suchou nohou překonat řeku, i film se trhavě, poskoky, vydává na cestu
tam a pak zase zpět.
Město v kotlině, město ležící podél
vod plynoucí řeky. Město přikrčené
ve stínu Hradu. Město ukryté za
fasádou turismu. Praha. Město
mnoha zděděných a mála nových
jmen. Přerývaný tok řeči. Spleť ulic.
Hluk aut. Smog. Slunce otázek však
pomalu vychází na oblohu, rozednívá
se. Stojíme před branou a film
začíná. Praha ve stádiu zrcadla.

The film 31 Endings/ 31 Beginnings is a film debut of the Rafani art collective. The outline of the work
consists of mapping of Prague's mostly “underground” culture. It has a form of a film treatise.
Individual parts are ordered in a numerical sequence one after another. Their succession gives rise to
a metaphorical movement, which can be described as a movement from the city periphery to the city
center or a direction towards power and consciousness. Every part has its own theme and its own
representative. Twenty-one notables mainly from the fields of contemporary art, noise music, or
political activism (e.g., Vladimír Skrepl, Vladimír 518, Advance Design, Birds Built Nests Underground,
Ondřej Slačálek, Petr Krejzek, Michal Viewegh and others) make their appearance in the film. 31
Endings/31 Beginnings is about Prague at the mirror stage. As always with Rafani's art projects, the
authorship is collective.
Have you ever asked yourself questions such as: Where does Prague end and where does it begin?
Where is its center? What is its structure? Does it have its hidden face plunged in the darkness of the
unconscious? Is it possible to take one's life and attach it to the concept of the city? Does not fullness
and wealth become nothingness and dust? When and where does the enlightened reason happen to
be at its end? If anyone says that the Rafani art collective try to answer these questions, do not
believe him. The film 31 Endings/31 Beginnings is based on movement. Like a child who would like to
cross a river without getting wet and thus jumps from a stone to a stone, so the film jerkily, by leaps
and bounds, goes on a journey and comes back again.
A city in a basin, next to the waters of a flowing river. A city crouching in a shadow of a castle. A city
hiding behind a facade of tourism. Prague. A city of many inherited names and few new ones. An
interrupted flow of speech. A network of streets. Car noise. Smog. Yet the sun of questions slowly
rises on the horizon, we are standing before the gate and the film begins. Prague at the mirror stage.
Words against images. The film 31 Endings/31 Beginnings is the first feature film of the Rafani art
collective. Twenty-one notables mainly from underground culture such as Vladimír Skrepl, Vladimír
518, Advance Design, Birds Built Nests Underground, Ondřej Slačálek, Petr Krejzek, or Michal
Viewegh make their appearance in it.
