SAKHYDROENERGOMSHENI
The specialized company SAKHYDROENERGOMSHENI, abbreviated - SAKHYDRO, was founded in 1936 with the purpose
of utilizing rich hydro power resources of Georgia. Approximate theoretical potential of the country is 100 billion kWh,
whereas the actual operating potential exeeds 40 billion kWh.
Until now only 25% of the above mentioned potential was utilized out of which 22 large and medium HPP-s were
constructed by SAKHYDRO, with more than 2500 MW installed capacity and about 8.5 billion kWh annual output. The
company constructed thermal power plants as well, with more than 2000 MW total installed capacity.
Despite the availability of capacities, due to objective reasons, most of the operating power plants in Georgia generate
significantly less electric power than their designed capacities are. Consequently many of them are in need of rehabilitation
and renovation, therefore special programs have been developed. At the same time the possibilities of construction of the
new HPP is also considered.
SAKHYDRO intends to cooperate closely with foreign companies for implementation of the above mentioned projects.
Besides power plants, SAKHYDRO has constructed traffic roads, traffic tunnels, water supply and sewage systems, civil,
industrial and public buildings.
The present reference booklet provides the general information about our Company as well as the data of the most of
significant projects executed by SAKHYDRO as a general contractor.
