Meets in Basement. Paul wrote four letters while he was in prison. They are now part of the New Testament: Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians and Philemon. This 15-week class will dig into these wonderful letters and seek to help participants grow in their faith by reflecting on God’s Word found there. Experiencing God – Knowing and Doing the Will of God (By Henry & Richard Blackaby and Claude King) Led by Becky Whited. Meets in Mercy. Through the Biblical principles in this course, God can teach you how to: know when He is speaking to you; recognize His activity around you; adjust your life to Him and His ways; identify what He wants to do through you; and respond to His activity in your life. What a great way to start the new year with a new Bible class on how to grow into deeper relationship with our Savior! This study is 13 weeks. If you are a guest with us today, we are so glad you are here! We invite you to fill out a yellow card from the pew rack and put it in the offering plate during worship. You will find all of the words in the worship service projected at the front of the church. If you require a printed copy, they are available from the ushers in the back of the church. If you have something you would like us to pray about this week, you can write it on the back of the yellow card. Our staff and prayer team will pray for the requests during the week. If you so choose, we will post your request at our online prayer wall as well. First Trinity is a Bible-based church. We believe God’s Word is the sole authority for this life. We are imperfect people loving imperfect people. ne of my great privileges in my work at First Trinity is to lead 25 minutes of worship time with kids each morning at Vacation Bible School every summer. The time is called “Sing and Play”, but it is truly worship. All of the songs are praises to God and the kids use every part of their bodies to worship. We sing loud and strong, we dance, we move, we WORSHIP. I love it for a thousand reasons, but one of them is that with the kids there’s all kinds of permission to just let go and worship fully. I stop worrying about what adults around me might think and just let it all show in front of God. It is so much fun! And my heart is changed towards His because of it. I’ve always been fascinated by the woman who bathed Jesus’ feet in her tears and wiped them with her hair (Luke 7:36-50). It seems she had the same kind of abandon in worshiping her Lord. She gave it all. She cried in His presence. She doesn’t seem to pay attention to what the men around her are saying and thinking (and it wasn’t nice). She focuses all her attention on Jesus. And Jesus (knowing her sinful past) commends her and forgives her. I love the way God works. He uses a sinful woman to teach us about what it means to worship Him completely. And it turns out that it’s not me helping children worship--it’s children helping me (and I hope all of us) worship! What a hoot. What a Savior. Sue Steege, Director of Transformation Ministries (P.S. VBS 2014 is July 21-25. The theme is “Weird Animals” and registration for kids AND volunteers opens on April 1 at FirstTrinity.com) Our prayer for you today is that you would connect to God and grow closer and closer to Him each day. Sue Steege ([email protected], 716-835-2220) We rejoice with the Christ Family as they welcomed Piper Noelle on March 5 at 7 lbs 2 oz. Frequently Asked Questions The Frequently Asked Questions series is returning this summer! If you’ve wanted Pastor to talk about a specific topic or question, now is your chance! Write your question on a piece of paper and stick it in the box in the lobby. We will accept questions for a few weeks, then you will have an opportunity to vote on the questions. We will tackle the most voted-for questions at worship starting in late June. Memories Lutheran Schools are a part of our history. One of the first things our founders did was to start a school. We had a Lutheran school for 89 years until 1928. Then 20 years later we formed an association with other congregations in Buffalo to start a central school that eventually was named Martin Luther Christian School. Located on Eggert Rd., we had good access to it and often had the largest number of students there. The School closed in 2004. We have continued to offer our preschool, now in its 51st year. May God help us to serve our children as they learn of Christ. Project Prom Dress Collection Every year many girls around WNY are able to go to prom because of the generosity of others who donate both new and gently used prom dresses to local collections. Over the past few years, the ladies of First Trinity have collected over 50 dresses for young women in the community who wouldn’t be able to purchase a prom dress on their own. We’re collecting dresses again until March 30. On that Sunday the young women participating will also pool their donations together and go shopping for even more dresses to donate to the cause. Bring any prom-style dresses you want to donate and place them in the “Project Prom Dress Collection Area” in the main office hallway.
