Course objectives:
The aim of the course is to involve students into reading professional texts in a foreign language.
Requirements on student
Active participation in tutorials ? reading and translation of texts, discussion in conformity with acquired language skills.
Receiving credit depends on active participation in tutorials, not on reaching a certain language skill level.
Content
1) Continuous reading with commentaries of Spanish professional texts on theology, philosophy or religious studies: Maimonidés,
Spanish mystics (Saint Teresa of Jesus and Saint John of the Gross), the Catalan thinker R. Llull, Baroque desengaňo (B. Gracián
and F. Quevedo), philosopher M. de Unamuno, Niňo Jesús de Praga, Camino de Santiago de Compostela and Montserrat.
2)Introduction to professional vocabulary.
3)Specificity of professional style.
4)Basic translation techniques.
