PRAGUE – AIRPORT – KLADNO FEASIBILITY STUDY 2013 Railway lines evaluated in Feasibility Study Project aims 1. Service for Kladno and Central Bohemia region • Connecting the largest city in the region to Prague • Prospective modernization in the direction Rakovník, alternatively in other directions in the future • Service for bus terminals and P+R facilities in relation to highways R6, R7 a R1 • Interval transport by through and stopping trains Project aims 2. Service for Václav Havel Airport • Connecting the Airport to Prague city centre via railway commuter transport • Link to the long-distance railway transport (to Prague Main Railway Station) in accordance with the EU requirements Project aims 3. Service for municipal boroughs Prague 6 a 7 via railway transport • New stops in the teritorry of Prague 6 and 7 • Transfer links train – metro – tram – bus • All trains in Prague Integrated Transport schedule • Calming main radial roads (Dejvická, Patočkova) thanks to P+R car parks in external zone of Prague Target state scheme Feasibility Study Main transport relations – three main aims of the Project relation relation Kladno Airport VHP min. interval 15 min min. interval 15 min connection to Prague connection to Prague terminal with P+R min. interval 10 min connection to the airport terminal location long distance transport • Praha Masarykovo n. • Praha Masarykovo n. • from SV (R) • travellator • Praha Ruzyně • Praha Smíchov / hl. n. • Praha Smíchov / hl. n. • from JZ (J) • shuttle to Praha hl.n. • Dlouhá Míle direct long distance trains • Feasibility Study Variants‘ evaluating 29 variants of operational and design solution pre-selection based on technology assessment and feasibility 17 variants of operational and design solution selection of representative variants 5 representative variants transportation forecast scheme and CBA for 5 representative variants simplified CBA for remaining 12 variants based on sensitivity analysis multicriterial analysis of 17 variants RECOMMENDED VARIANTS Feasibility Study R1 Variant scheme (branch Ruzyně) Feasibility Study J5 Variant scheme (branch Jeneček) Traffic model – an example of one of the outputs Basic design data Praha Bubny – Václav Havel Airport section Basic design data • Track follows existing single track railway Praha - Kladno • Track length 18,2 km • Double tracking, dependent (electric) traction • Design speed 80 kmph (in the section Dlouhá Míle – Airport 90 kmph) • Exclusive operation of passenger trains is supposed • Regular interval operation, minimum peak interval of airport trains - 10 min, Kladno trains 15 min, Kralupy trains 30 min • Travel time of fully stopping train in the section Masarykovo station – VH Airport takes 26 min and 21 min for through train. State of Project development • • • • Preliminary Design was elaborated in 3/2009, in accordance with the approved EIA documentation of the year 2009 95% approvals of the authorities were secured (conservationists, hygienist, Prague 6 etc.) 45% of the total line length was an underground (tunnel) track, especially in the section Stromovka - Veleslavín Since 2010 - looking for alternative options and more efficient technical solutions Station Praha Bubny - modernization Station Praha Bubny – Vltavská - visualization Station Praha Veleslavín – cross section Station Praha Veleslavín – visualization Praha Dlouhá Míle Station – scheme of the Terminal Vaclav Havel Airport Station – plan and cross section Basic design data Ruzyně – Kladno section Basic design data: Track follows existing single track railway Praha - Kladno Line length: 19,7 km, incl. 6,6 km of shifting Design speed 125 kmph Double tracking, dependent (electric) traction Modernizing of signaling and communication, remote traffic control Elevated platforms in all stations and train stops State of Project development • • Preliminary Design was elaborated in 2004 - 5 Due to the demands for synergic impacts evaluation of the airport, R6 highway and modernized railway, EIA was approved even in 2013. Travelling time comparison: Fully stopping train Masarykovo nádraží – Kladno Line length After modernization 31 km 40 min Existing state min. 50 min Thereof Ruzyně – Kladno section Line length After modernization 15,5 km 16,5 min Existing state min. 25 min Total travelling time to Kladno Ostrovec station … 47 min Through train Masarykovo nádraží – Kladno Train stops in Praha-Bubny, Praha-Dejvice and Hostivice stations Line length After modernization 31 km 27 min Existing statet cca 39 min Thereof Ruzyně – Kladno section Line length After modernization 15,5 km 11,5 min Existing state min. 18 min Station Hostivice, visualization Station Jeneč, visualization Station Kladno, visualization Station Kladno, visualization Feasibility Study Results Conclusion Transportation effects of the Project according to Model investigations Prague – Kladno Prague – Airport 2013 – existing state Railway 6 000 0 Buses 20 000 19 000 Cars 40 000 50 000 2052 – calculated state (incl. urban development and Airport development) Railway + - 24 000 9 000 20 000 0 Buses + - 8 500 25 000 13 000 24 400 Cars + - 45 000 47 500 65 000 67 000 Number of passengers in average working day, both directions. + ... Railway link project not implemented Overview of Project‘s Investment costs Variant costs R1 Branch Ruzyně 18,0 J5 Branch Jeneček 17,7 P Both branches (passage through the Airport) 21,0 Investment costs in billions CZK excl. VAT, price level 2013 (without distribution into the period of implementation and without inflation). Calculated costs will cover entire project Praha – Airport – Kladno, incl. the upgrade of Jinonice Railway line and excl. Masarykovo Station – Bubny section Source – Feasibility Study. Railway lines evaluated in Feasibility Study Results of the Feasibility Study should support further progress of the project.
