Foreword
20 years of successful par tnership
Dear business partners, dear friends,
This year ALTA celebrates its twentieth anniversary. For us this is not just another milestone, but an opportunity to re-evaluate what
has been achieved and to take a look into the future.
During its relatively short existence, ALTA has developed into a leading supplier of engineering and technological solutions. There
have been many projects throughout the years and we are proud to say some of those rank not just among the biggest in the whole history of Czecho-Russian trade relations but are of international significance. And not a single of those projects could have been
made possible without you – our partners and customers.
Creating and systematically developing our own manufacturing base is, without a doubt, another major corporate accomplishment
for us. Spurred by the acquisition of TOS KUŘIM - OS, it was later expanded through the incorporation of SE-MI Technology,
ČKD BLANSKO-OS and ŠKODA MACHINE TOOL into ALTA Group.
The road to success was not without its bumps and the recent years of the world economic crises that put so many companies to
survival test proved no different. On the one hand, although ALTA too shared its burden of recession, we continued to provide
a wide range of high quality services within the framework of a stable global corporation. On the other hand, those years taught us
a tough lesson in self-reevaluation and once again demonstrated that a comprehensive approach together with strong R&D and
technological departments is a must. And today it is precisely those elements that form the foundation of our growth policy.
We have no intention of resting on our laurels. At ALTA we are convinced that continuous improvement and innovation are
fundamental to any future success. That is why we base our corporate strategy on organizational restructuring, financial consolidation and further expansion of our foreign businesses supported by substantial reinforcement of our personnel and considerable
technological improvements. ALTA is a company driven by its customers’ needs; a company led every step of the way by you – our
esteemed business partners.
Thank you for the twenty years of inspired collaboration and for all those challenging projects that made ALTA one of the biggest
engineering companies in the Czech Republic. We look forward to many more years of working and growing together with you.
Yours faithfully

Export and Comprehensive Supply Services
Capital Equipment and Engineering
Export activities of the company ALTA are focused mainly
on supplies of capital equipment in the field of engineering,
production of building materials, energetics and metallurgy
which are an important potential of the company’s further development. ALTA, as a general supplier of capital equipment,
operates during the introduction of new production technologies as well as reconstructions and modernization of existing
production capacities. Individually or through specialized
design organizations, the company provides the elaboration
of project documentation for its customers and the necessary
technical assistance.
Engineering Technologies
The main emphasis in the area of modernization projects,
supplies of machine tools and other technology-producing
equipments is on the successful realisation of key projects:
Uralvagonzavod and Magnitogorsk. Other projects are also
important, such as the supplies for OAO NPK Irkut for the aircraft
production modernization – supplies for electroplating works,
varnishing lines, as well as machine tools from TOS KUŘIM - OS. In
2007–2008, contracts for supplies of new investment projects for
engineering complexes in the Russian Federation and Ukraine
were signed, such as the aforementioned OAO NPK Irkut, OAO
Tjazhmash, OAO Gidromash, ZAO EMSS and others. These
contracts verify the strong position of ALTA in the role of the
supplier of machine tools and related technologies. The biggest
paintshop for cargo wagons in the world was solemnly opened
in 2010 within the Uralvagonzavod project. In July 2010, a sig-

nificant contract was signed with the Uralmetanolgroup (UMG)
Company. In the field of sales support, ALTA provides service
for selected types of machine tools and overall maintenance
of the supplied technology.
Mining Technologies
In the field of supplies of technologies for coal and ore extraction, important contracts were concluded with the companies
ZAO UK Russkii Ugol (Russian Federation) and VINACOMIN
(Vietnam) which were implemented in 2007–2008, and a contract for the project of the new Nui Beo mine construction in
Vietnam was concluded.
Dressing and Preparation Technologies
An important achievement in the technologies for ore dressing and preparation is the iron ore crushing line at the Zaporozhye Steel and Iron Works. Furthermore, gravel grinding
plants at the Alcho deposit (Russian Federation) and in Pliseck,
Rakytnoe and Sosnovec in Ukraine were put into operation.
The third line for the production of bituminous mixtures was
supplied to OAO Asfaltobetonnyi zavod in Kiev.
Building Material Technologies
The development of supplies of technologies for the production of building materials has been successful. In 2007–2009,

Metallurgy and Power Engineering
Import activities of the company ALTA are focused mainly on
the field of supplies of iron ore material, metallurgical material
and fuel elements for nuclear reactors.
Thanks to the position the company has established in the
banking sector, ALTA is capable of providing a complete
range of lending, payment and securing operations to its
partners. In terms of payment terms and financing, ALTA is one
of the leading companies on the Czech market. Banking and
insurance solutions to the key export contracts (OAO NPK Uralvagonzavod, OOO Kuzminetskii kirpichnyi zavod, OAO MMK,
ZAO Uralmetanolgroup) are exceptional and above-standard
even from the international aspect and they broaden the
know-how of the company.
Production Capacities
The ownership interest in the company TOS KUŘIM - OS, a.s.
strengthens the position of the company ALTA as a supplier
of the capital equipment for mechanical engineering. The
production of the company TOS KUŘIM - OS, a.s. including machining centres, portal milling machines and special-purpose

and is becoming the foundation of extensive projects in transportation and heavy engineering, as well as, aircraft industry.
The ownership interest in the SE-MI Technology, a.s. Company
disposes ALTA with the production baseline in the branch of
underground and surface exploitation and with complete
engineering for the area of mining and enriching raw materials
and minerals, especially coal and iron ore. By the acquirement
of the ČKD BLANSKO - OS, a.s. Company in the year 2010, ALTA
gained an important production baseline in the area of the
production of heavy vertical lathes.

ŠKODA MACHINE TOOL a.s.
20 years of successful par tnership
The history of the machine tools ŠKODA goes all the way back to 1911. The machines have gradually become the symbol of high
technical level, reliability and excellent design. Unique constructions were developed thanks to which the today’s bearer of the
centennial tradition, the company ŠKODA MACHINE TOOL a.s., is ranked among the most prominent world producers of machine tools.
The company has a strong experimental, developmental and structurally-technological potential of creative workers and is keeping a headstart in technical level of its products. Horizontal boring machines ŠKODA are represented by a line of heavy quilled
bed types HCW with a spindle mean of 150 to 300 mm. All these machines have hydrostatic circuits. The heavy line of bed types is
complemented by a lighter line of horizontal milling machines FCW with a spindle mean of 145 and 150 mm. It is possible to equip
the bed type workplaces with turntables with carrying capacity from 25 to 500 tonnes and with a number of various milling and
boring heads and other equipment. The heavy lathes ŠKODA are represented by a line with a traditional labelling ŠKODA SR. This
line enables turning work of workpieces up to a mean of 5200 mm and weight up to 450 tonnes. In all instances these are modular
lines which permit a quick reaction to the needs of customers and also permit a development of custom workplaces, for example
for rotor dressing of turbo-generators, rotors of steam turbines, heavy crankshafts and other heavy and shape demanding workpieces. Machines ŠKODA are put into operations where high tech and high productivity is used.
More than 90 % of the production is made for export. The most important export territories are China, Finland, The Netherlands,
India, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Germany, Austria, Russia and Ukraine.

ALTA, a.s. Financial Report 2010
Consolidated Sum
20 years of successful par tnership
44
Economic results
Financing
The economic performance of the ALTA Group for 2010 is
still affected by the impact of the economic crisis from the
previous years, in both the manufacturing and the operational
sectors of the group, as well as in the parent company. In spite
of that, the Group has successfully managed the targets of the
2010 plan and created good premises for a successful realisation of targets and plans for 2011.
Consolidated revenues of the ALTA Group in accordance
with the International Finance Revenue Standards (IFRS)
reached 11,068 million CZK with a consolidated profit after
tax of 103,136 thousand CZK. Operational result of management for 2010 amounted to 475,692 thousand CZK and loss
from financial management was 303,887 CZK. The Group
realised exchange gains of 60 million CZK, all amounts in
foreign currencies have been converted through expense and
income accounts. As assets are concerned, in comparison to
the previous year in terms of capacity of individual items of
discretion, a decline occurred both in the area of short-term
and long-term assets. In short-term assets, it is particularly a
decline of monetary resources, claims from business contact
and reserves. In the long-term assets area a shift of long-term
claims in the value of 966,847 thousands CZK in to the shortterm area has occurred. This concerns the long-term claims
with maturity of claim between years 2012 and 2016 and
particularly the claims of the TRANSPORT – 21 VEK company.
These claims were discounted to current value through the effective interest rate method. In the area of liabilities, a decline
in short-term obligations in the amount of 717,769 thousand
CZK occurred, in companies TRANSPORT – 21 VEK and ALTA
in particular. This concerns the obligations in due date, which
are in balance with short-term claims from business partners.
Further, a decline in short-term credits in the value of 321,397
thousand CZK was observed. Long-term credits in the value of
3,964,553,000 CZK are mostly utilized by the TRANSPORT – 21
VEK leasing Company in the Russian Federation with maturity
until 2017.
As this report shows, it is possible to enunciate that the Group
fulfilled and exceeded the plan both in terms of revenues and
the overall financial performance. Financial reports of the
ALTA Group indicate a gradual expression of a positive trend in
the revival of the economy, not only in the domestic but also
in the international markets.
With the consideration that the parent company owns subsidiary companies abroad, consolidated final accounts are
elaborated in accordance with the International Finance Audit
Standards of IFRS.
In 2010, a part of the company SLÉVÁRNA KUŘIM, A.S. (20 %)
was sold. Further, new companies TOS NOVA a.s. and ALTA
RUS were founded. A consolidation of companies ENERGETIKA
KUŘIM a.s. and TOS Reality s.r.o. has taken place, where the
defunct company was TOS Reality s.r.o. The SE-MI service a.s.
company was renamed SE-MI Technology, a.s. All the companies are included in the consolidated final accounts since the
foundation or acquisition date of the company.
During 2010, the company had elaborated some new large
commissions, which is a sign of positive future results for the
banking sector, as well as, the achievement of planned economic targets. The cooperation continued with these banks:
Raiffeisenbank, HSBC Bank Plc, Unicredit Bank, BNP ParibasFortis, Citibank, ČSOB, ING Bank and Czech Export Bank.
The impacts of the economic crisis are being gradually reduced on the majority of business partners and at the end of the
year an economic revival is evident in all spheres at our target
markets. There is even an increase in volume of supplied iron
ore and rise of its price above the 2008 price level, which also
means the utilization of banking limits beyond the 60 % level.
Thanks to these positive factors, a larger variability of sublimit
and preferential terms were agreed with some of the banks.
ALTA, a.s. Financial Report 2010 | Company Profile 2011
From the view of export financing, the supplies of equipment
of rolling mill 2500 for the Magnitogorskii metalurgicheskii
kombinat are considered the most significant businesses
of 2010. These supplies were finished in this year and the
supplies of equipment for the vacuum furnace project for the
same customer are continuing in 2011. These commissions
are financed by the Czech Export Bank and insured by EGAP.
Simultaneously, in cooperation with these institutions, we are
preparing a new project for the construction of a plant for the
production of methanol in Nizhniy Tagil in Russia.
Also, in the area of supplies of equipment for mine exploitation, a preparation of export financing for Siberian coal and
power company is in progress, and will be realised in 2011 in
cooperation with BNP Paribas.
Further, on the Ukrainian territory a revival, especially in the
engineering area, is taking place. We are working on smaller
commissions with the utilization of export financing in the
form of surrender claims. Those are for example the supplies
of machines for Novokramatorskii mashinostrojitelnyi zavod
financed by HSBC, or Energomashspecstal financed by Unicredit Bank.
Total expenses for the servicing of the bank debit were slightly
higher compared to 2009, which is related to considerably
higher utilization of the banking limits, for both financing of
claims and expressively higher utilization of letters of credit
and pre-export financing.
A selection of a brokerage company went ahead during the
second half of 2010 together with consecutive activities
related to the proprietary and liability insurance. This activity
applied to ALTA and all the subsidiary companies. After a complete evaluation, we decided to stay with the current broker
MARSH and the ČSOB insurance company, whose prices and
terms and conditions were evaluated as the best ones.
In the area of financial leasing, we still collaborate with Unicredit Leasing and the operative leasing is provided by Business
Lease.
