Very importantly, too, the closed-cycle cooling system enables optimal xenon lamp preservation and safe treatment application. Other Intense Pulsed Light systems available on the market utilize forced air to achieve xenon lamp cooling; such system has proven to lead to lamp overheating and poor operational performance. The unique reflective cavity, generates maximum energy density in both Nd:YAG and CPL modules. The selected treatment source is delivered from the handpiece into the skin, where it releases only the wavelengths absorbed by the target. The strength and duration of the pulse is also tightly controlled to ensure the target is selectively heated to, whilst leaving the surrounding tissue unharmed. CPL and Nd:YAG Laser Cavity Sapphire crystal filters Xlase in CPL operation mode provides a range of different available wavelengths. Through selection of sapphire crystal filters is like having a suite of lasers to effectively treat a number a of skins conditions: these special cut-off filters are used to block out wavelengths of light below the filter number selected and allow only those wavelengths of light above the filter number to pass through. This makes the Xlase system very versatile and gentle offering gradual results with minimal risk of side effects and patient downtime. Thermo-electric coupling tip cooler An integral part of the Xlase system is the chill tip. This contact cooling handpiece protects the skin by actively cooling the skin before, during, and after the light is transmitted. It also actively draws off heat from the skin surface. The chill tip also has a slight anesthetic effect which helps to minimize the discomfort during procedure. CPL procedure Closed-cycle water cooling system CPL cut off filters The Xlase Nd:YAG generator allows fast and effective laser hair removal treatments in the darkest skin types. The laser beam ensures light penetration to the deepest follicles while its low absorption guarantees preservation of the surrounding tissues in all skin types. Xlase's zoom handpieces allows accurate selection of the hair reduction treatment area size and instantly switch to more focused laser spots for fine vascular treatments. Nd:YAG handpiece Nd:YAG (infrared 1064 nm) Generator Nd:YAG procedure Superior by design, the new Xlase Calibrated Pulsed Light generator offers several innovative and advanced technology enhancements. Compared to other IPL systems available on the market the Xlase system has proven among the most powerful. The Calibrated Pulsed Light generator is simple and efficient to operate; controls are within easy reach and important user information is clearly displayed on the LCD, including energy delivered and treatment setting with true energy fluence up to 30 J/cm2. Nd:YAG vascular procedure Calibrated Pulsed Light (broad spectrum) Generator CPL handpiece Device Components The Procedures Ageing Procedure mechanics: flashes of light work in a similar way to non ablative lasers by causing heat damage to dermal tissues without disruption or removal of the outer epidermal layers of the skin. It is thought that the heat in the dermal layers causes collagen to be produced which helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Acne Procedure mechanics: Xlase acne treatment uses lights of three colors to treat acne and acne scars. The treatment consists of yellow, green and red intense light that is emitted in a series of short pulses. The yellow light emitted destroys the bacteria that live in the skin and cause acne, while the red light directly targets the overactive sebaceous glands that cause outbreaks of pustules. This heating effect generated deep into the skin helps to prevent over-production of excess sebum. Pigmentation Procedure mechanics: the chromphore is represented by the melanin. For this procedure lower spectrum wavelengths are selected to target the melanin which selectively heats the brown spots resulting in damage to the lesion whilst causing minimal damage to the surrounding skin. Following treatment, the damaged lesions turn darker and may crust. Over the following weeks they will gradually flake away from the skin leaving little trace of the original mark. Epilation Procedure mechanics: Xlase is effective for hair removal in any area of the body with unwanted hair, including the back, chest, face, legs and bikini area. For the treatment of unwanted hair, the light targets the pigmented hair within the follicles that are in active growth phase (anagen), raising the temperature and destroying the follicle as well as the stem cells responsible for new hair growth. Several treatments are required for hair removal as only a small percentage of a person`s hair is in active growth phase at any given time. Vascular Procedure mechanics: narrow spectrum wavelengths are useful for the treatment of small broken blood vessels on the face secondary to rosacea, those present around the nose, and cherry angiomas. The light targets the hemoglobin in the vessels and coagulates the vessels. Disappearance of the unwanted vessels and lesions is often immediate. Procedure mechanics: Rosacea condition is treated with a double Rosacea Technical Specifications synchronic action; firstly red thread veins absorb the light energy raising the temperature. The produced damage encourages the body to reabsorb them, improving skin appearance. Secondly the light energy warms the collagen fibres in the skin that stimulates new collagen and collagen remodelling; this improves the support of the small blood vessels which helps to delay the development of more thread veins.
