Dear Parents,
Welcome back to the new school year. I am sure 2013 will bring many new exciting
learning experiences for all of our students.
Can I take the opportunity to welcome our new families. Welcome to Zamzam and
Charlize which are our kindergarten enrolments. Both girls have had a great “first day at
school”.
A special welcome goes to Clare Bacon, who is the teacher on 5/8 Purple for this term.
All students have settled well in their classes for 2013 and there is a buzz of productivity
across the school.
Next Wednesday afternoon will be our first “meet and greet”. We invite all parents to
come to the school for a valuable information sharing session with the staff. Your child
will have a note with the details of this event.
This term we have organised “Clean up Australia Day” with Canterbury Vale School on
the 1st of March. We will also combine for special sports days to celebrate Harmony Day.
In 2013 uniforms will be compulsory. It is delightful to see so many of our students in
uniform. Please contact me if you have any issues or concerns regarding this matter.
Kind regards,
Poppy Loueizi
Principal
K/2 BLUE CLASS
Welcome back to all the students and families, hope you all had a wonderful holiday.
Glad to see all the students are back at school healthy and ready for a busy term. We
would like to welcome Charlize and Zamzam and their families to K/2 Blue and to the
Wangee Park Community.
This term in K/2 Blue our unit of work “Healthy Choices” focuses on good and bad food,
keeping your body active, looking after your body (personal hygiene), and other ways to
take care of yourselves. At the moment we are reading a book called ‘Oliver’s Vegetable’
and the students are enjoying the story being read to them. We look forward to filling you
in on what happens in the next couple of weeks in the next newsletter.
2/6 YELLOW CLASS
Welcome back to another school year. I hope that all families had a restful holiday. The
students of Class Yellow seem very happy to be back at school and have settled into the
school routine very well.
We welcome some new members to the Yellow class – Adam, Lana and Mohammed.
Anne, Ghadir and Heba have returned to this class again this year. We were sad to
farewell Rosie and Adam to new classes. However, we are all getting to know each other
and enjoying the new dynamic that a change brings.
This term we are studying healthy choices, along with normal classes in maths, literacy
etc. We are cooking healthy meals each week, talking about the ingredients going into
the cooking, and then sampling the results!
2/6 GREEN CLASS
Welcome back to term 1 for Green class 2013! We have been very busy getting to know
each other with many different activities in our new room on the top verandah. Our class
unit of work for term 1 is ‘Healthy Choices’ and based on this our first cooking lesson
started in week 2 with making a berry and banana smoothie with yoghurt. This week on
Tuesday we worked well together to make zucchini pikelets and we touched and smelled
the different ingredients with the end result tasting great!
5/9 PURPLE CLASS
It has been a fun and exciting few weeks settling into our new classroom and meeting our
new classmates. We still have found time to cook pancakes, read books and do Maths
activities.
One of our best afternoons was doing PDHPE. We joined up with Red class and made a
big circle. We all took it in turns to throw the ball to our friends.
Everyone was excellent at throwing and catching.
8/12 RED CLASS
We have all settled back into routines well in 8/12 Red Class. This term our topic study is
‘Travelling around Australia’ and so far we have visited The Big Banana with The Big
Pineapple our next destination. The students enjoyed making and eating banana splits.
