Air-Cooled
Generator
Reasons to choose BRUSH
DAX 10 range of air-cooled
generators
—— BRUSH tried and tested design
and manufacturing principles
used throughout
—— Each generator designed to effectively
meet project-specific requirements
—— Viable alternative to hydrogen-cooled generators, eliminating the risks of using hydrogen as the primary coolant
—— Technology based on proven generator designs working out
in the field
—— The first of this new generation
of DAX 10 generators has just
completed its second year of
successful operation
—— Suitable for a variety of turbine
applications, frequency requirements and environmental conditions
BRUSH has built on its extensive knowledge
of supplying generators to both the gas and
steam turbine market to offer a new and
exciting range of air-cooled generators.
Building on over 130 years’ experience,
the best design practices and manufacturing
techniques have been utilized to extend the
current range of air-cooled generators to
200 MW, for both 50 and 60 Hz applications.
Principles of stator design
—— Sprung core to minimize vibrations onto
foundations
—— Pressed endwindings for optimal heat
dissipation
—— Radially ventilated corepack construction
—— Upgraded resin rich insulation utilizing new
flat glass technology
The first of this new generation of DAX 10
generators has just completed its second
year of successful operation.
Principles of rotor design
The DAX 10 range of air-cooled generators
offers a real alternative to the hydrogen-cooled
generator, offering simpler maintenance and
operation as well as lower auxiliary costs,
whilst maintaining project-specific output
and efficiency requirements.
Cooling methodology
The DAX 10 range of air-cooled generators is
versatile for a number of different applications
and a variety of different environments,
available to operate in a range of local
environmental conditions.
The DAX 10 range of air-cooled generators
is fully compliant with the requirements of the
relevant international standard specifications,
including IEC and IEEE.
Based on real-build experience, the new
DAX 10 range of generators will continue
and contribute to BRUSH’s ability to
meet demanding interface requirements
of the turbine manufacturer, coupled with
competitive prices and deliveries.
—— Directly-cooled, ensuring uniform flow and
temperature along the length of the rotor
—— C ooled by air, either open air-cooled circuit
or closed water: air circuit configuration
—— Cooling air is forced around the generator
by means of two axial fans
—— Integral, multi-chamber cooling system
to ensure uniform temperature profile
throughout the length of the generator
Excitation system
—— Brushless or static options available
—— Excitation systems based on proven systems
Bearing arrangement
—— Endframe or pedestal arrangement
available, depending on the active core
length required for the application
Versatile to surroundings
—— Housing suitable for outdoor installation
—— Applicable for 50 & 60 Hz applications,
both gas and steam turbine arrangements
