Výukové cíle:
 rozšíření znalostí o zajímavostech Spojeného království
 žáci dovedou navrhnout turistickou trasu po Spojeném
království a představit zajímavá místa, včetně orientace v
mapě

• The Cliffs are the first thing you see when arriving in
Britain by sea
• They face the Straight of Dover – the narrowest part
of the English Channel between Great Britain and
France and they form a symbolic guard
• Can be up to 110 m high.
Windsor Castle
• A medieval castle in south-east England
• The home of the royal family outside London
Oxford and Cambridge
• The two oldest universities in the UK, sometimes
called Oxbridge
• Oxford was probably founded in the 12th century,
Cambridge at the beginning of the 13th century
Stonehenge
• A prehistoric temple in the south of England, near
Salisbury.
• It is monument built of giant blocks of stones.

theories about its

Giant‘s Causeway
• Is a natural wonder on the
northeast coast of
Northern Ireland
• It is an area of 40,000
basalt colums, the result of
an acient volcanic
erruption
• A legend says that an Irish
giant, Finn McCool, built a
bridge linking Ireland to
Scotland and what we
see today are the remains
of that bridge
Hadrian‘s Wall
• The biggest Roman heritage in Britain.
• It was built after 122 AD during the rule of emperor
Hadrian as a military defensive fortification.
• It is a well- preserved popular tourist attraction.
• Offers tours, museums,
• Art galleries etc.
