ANNOUNCEMENT
PEGAS obtained a grant from the Czech Ministry Industry
and Trade for R&D project
ZNOJMO (April 2nd, 2008) - PEGAS NONWOVENS s.r.o., a direct subsidiary of PEGAS
NONWOVENS SA („PEGAS“ or „the Company“) in cooperation with the Institute of the
Physical Electronics associated with the Faculty of Natural Science of the Masaryk
University in Brno and with the company INOTEX s.r.o. based in Dvůr Králové nad
Labem, is commencing R&D project focused on the new generation treatment of
nonwoven textiles via the atmospheric plasma.
The treatment of nonwovens textiles via plasma under study should ensure an effective
fixation of active particles of the fibre surface which may increase or improve utilization
of nonwoven textiles in the hygiene and technical applications.
The primary aim of the project is the attestation of a potential volume reduction of
currently used functional additives in order to achieve necessary parameters of
nonwoven textiles for hygiene applications. In addition, project includes a development
of plasma modification which should lead to durability improvement of required
parameters during multiple usage of nonwovens. A highly positive benefit of the project
is a reduction of used additives which will be more environment friendly.
This project with a total budget of up to CZK 70 million during 2008 – 2011 obtained a
grant from programme called “Trvalá Prosperita” under the research and development
support programmes tendered by the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade in May 2007.
Based on Company’s estimates, the total amount of the grant may reach up to CZK 25
million.
By a successful completion of the project, PEGAS will continue in its previous successful
achievements in the area of research and development. The project shall enable a
commercialization of new products with unique parameters and with higher added value
which are of a key focus of PEGAS, one of the leading firms in the market.
