The word HALLOWEEN comes from All Hallows’ Evening or Hallowe’en. Traditional activities include trick-or-treating, dressing up, costume parties, visiting “haunted houses” and making the Jack O’lanterns – carving pumpkins. Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival. The festival is called Samhain. It is a celebration of the end of the harvest season and the Samhain was a time used by the ancient pagans to stock of supplies and preparation for winter. People make Jack O’lanterns and they put it on the door steps or windows to chase bad spirits and evils from their houses. Trick-or-treating, is an activity for children.
