TRANSPORT
Services
- The purpose of this leaflet is to assist the tourist in traveling around Cyprus.
- One can travel around Cyprus by bus, by private taxi or by shared taxis.
- There are no trains in Cyprus.
- Visitors are requested to confirm the itineraries and prices with the appropriate
companies as these are subject to alterations.
- Transurban (service or shared) taxis do not operate between:
a) The Airports and the towns, and
b) Towns and villages.

TAXI SERVICES
1. Transurban Service (shared) Taxis:
This service offers the opportunity to share a taxi with 4-7 other passengers. It provides connection
between all major towns of Cyprus (Lefkosia, Lemesos, Larnaka, Pafos), every half hour, MondayFriday 06.00-18.00, Saturday and Sundays 06.00-17.00. Seats can be booked by phone and
passengers can be collected from and dropped to, at any place they wish, within the municipal
boundaries.
No Service offered on Public Holidays.
Service taxis do not operate between: a) The Airports and the towns,
b) Towns and villages

2. Rural Taxis:
Rural taxis can be hired from and to their base station (village) only. Charging commences upon the
entering of a passenger to the taxi and is based on the following chart.
Rural taxis are not equipped with taximetres.

Tariff I (06:01 – 20:30): Single trip € 0, 63 per km. Return trip € 0,49per km.
Tariff II (20:30 – 06:00): Single trip € 0,715 per km. Return trip € 0,63per km.
For every piece of luggage weighing more than 12 kg there is a charge of € 0, 63.
Delay or waiting time charge:
For tariff I € 14,45per hour.
For tariff II € 18,821per hour.
e) Minimum Charge: €3,64
3. Urban Taxis:
This is a 24hours service provided in all towns. Taxis can be booked by phone or be hired on the
street. Urban taxis are obligatory provided with taximetres and charging commences upon the
entering of a passenger in the taxi. The transport of passengers by urban taxis without using the
taximeter is not permitted. Fares are based on the following chart:

BUS SERVICES
There are three types of buses in Cyprus (Transurban, rural and urban buses).
1. Transurban Buses:
Various Bus companies link all towns with daily routes at specified intervals.

2. Rural Buses:
Almost all villages are connected with the nearest town by local buses. Bus operation though is
limited to once or twice daily (Mon. - Sat.). Regional bus companies formed recently will provide
more routes.
3. Urban Buses:
Urban buses operate frequently during daytime and in certain tourist areas, during summer, their
routes are extended in some cases till midnight.
