LESSON 8 - APPLICATION AND MAINTENANCE
1. There are many applications where these devices can be used with advantage. Although designed for
the drive of compressors, this motor is ideal for all applications where constant speed is required. Such instruments may find extensive application in all the testing stations. This compact vibratory sieving machine
is suitable for a variety of applications. The wide use of electric locomotives is caused by the simplicity of
their construction and the ability to produce high starting torque. This special enamel has been prepared for
indoor use. The electric current generated in this equipment is too small to be of practical use. The usage
of water is one of the significant indices of the standard of living.
2. This device can be applied in the same way as a separator. A mixture of hydrogen and oxygen is used
in the process of the synthetic production of ammonia. Gas is chiefly used for domestic heating and cooking.
X-rays are widely used not only in medicine but in industry as well. Engine oil or preferably transmission
oil is recommended for this purpose; grease should not be employed. Such a piece of equipment would be
sufficiently versatile to meet the needs of various users. This excellent mechanical property will be exploited
in numerous practical applications. The laser equipment placed on the surface of the moon serves a number
of useful purposes. These transistors are serving as switches.
3. The task of plant maintenance is to keep buildings and production machinery in satisfactory condition.
The principal objective of maintenance is to prevent interruptions in operation. The idea of preventive maintenance is to remedy minor defects before they cause the need for major repairs and the failure of equipment.
This machine is highly reliable and requires little or no maintenance. Everybody would understand their

interest in introducing efficient methods of maintenance. This varnish layer will reduce maintenance costs to
a minimum. The manufacturer should give information regarding the maintenance measures to be observed
under normal service conditions.
4. Special maintenance instructions given by the producer should be carefully followed. Periodic inspection
and maintenance under normal conditions should include thorough cleaning of all parts and lubrication where
required. In such a case forced lubrication would be necessary. Drivers are responsible for cleaning and lubricating their vehicles. Frequency of lubrication is governed by severity of service. When maintaining your tape
recorder you must avoid the over-lubrication of any component. Our company recognizes the importance of

5. It is desirable that the producer should indicate the number of operations after which the different
parts of the equipment should be maintained. It is important that tyres should be kept at the correct pressure, as indicated by the tyre pressure markings. Drivers should check and correct the pressure of each tyre
on their cars weekly by means of a pressure tyre gauge. The attention of the maintainer should be given to
the main operating parts of the mechanism. The maintainer can quickly choose the necessary instrument
among those placed in his instrument box.
6. The quantity of oil in the engine should be ascertained by frequent use of the dip rod, and the oil must
be replenished as necessary to keep it up to the correct level. Water in the cooling system should be kept up
to the correct level by the addition of clean water or anti-freeze solution. When cleaning these complicated
devices it is most important not to use cotton-waste to prevent the deposit of loose fibres. A driver should
clean the engine, fill up the lubricators, screw up the grease caps and lubricate the various parts of the
car by the use of a grease gun or oil can in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Under normal
operating conditions this device should be lubricated at six month intervals. The oil, this machine is oiled
with, should be of superior quality. The transformer assembly hall was serviced by a 60 ton crane.
7. The prescribed treatment is to drain the lubricating oil completely, flush out the bearing with kerosene,
and refill with fresh oil. Lubricating oil may be reclaimed by appropriate processing, separation, and filtering.
Lubricant must be kept free from abrasive particles. The bearings have been charged with sufficient grease
for two operations without maintenance.
