Galerie dvorak sec contemporary si s potěšením dovoluje oznámit zahájení
výstavy s názvem Une semaine et un jour à Prague (Týden a den v Praze)
francouzského současného umělce Oliviera Masmonteila, který představí
svoji malířskou tvorbu vůbec poprvé v Praze. Francouzský malíř nabídne
v podání svých velkoformátových pláten průřez svojí jedinečnou tvorbou,
kdy malbu používá také jako nástroj pro únik do vnitra prostoru a času.
Olivier mimo jiné pro tuto výstavu nacházel inspiraci u českých legendárních
malířů, které studoval v pražských galeriích a muzeích.
Francouzský malíř Olivier Masmonteil výstavu Une semaine et un jour à
Prague, stejně jako svoji uměleckou tvorbu, rozděluje do tří kapitol, které
odhalují různé aspekty klasické malby. Dvanáct let zasvětil první kapitole
nazvané La possibilité de peindre (Možnosti malby), kde na jediném námětu
krajinomalby zkoumal možnosti malby jako takové; technicky, filozoficky i
osobnostně. Krajinomalba se stala pro Oliviera důležitou součástí života a
umělecké tvorby, jež stála na počátku jeho malířského úspěchu. Kromě
velkoformátových obrazů vytvořil sérii 1000 malých obrazů reálných krajin ze
svých cest okolo světa, které tvoří deník umělce. Výběr těchto maleb byl mimo jiné také vystaven v prestižním Leopold Museum
ve Vídni na skupinové výstavě Wolken (2013) po boku světových umělců jako jsou Gerhard Richter, Anselm Kiefer, Paul Cézanne,
Claude Monet nebo William Turner.
Olivier nyní prožívá svoji druhou kapitolu, kterou nazývá Le plaisir de peindre (Potěšení z malby), soustřeďující se spíše na
narativnost a potěšení z malby bez omezení námětu. Olivier konstruuje scény sestavené ze svých vzpomínek, filmových scén,
obrazů starých mistrů a své fantazie, kterým dává vznik novým příběhům. Na první pohled divák spatří klíčový moment, který je
ostře a jasně namalován. Divák ale dále odhaluje další postavy a předměty v zamlžených obrysech, zkoumající a dotvářející určitý
příběh.
Olivier Masmonteil se rozhodl tuto výstavu pojmout jako film, v němž divák vidí zákulisí (krajinomalba), scény (interiérové
malby) a charakter postav (námět obrazu) s odkazy i na české dějiny umění. Námětem výstavy se stává převyprávění příběhů,
které nám v průběhu dějin ukazují také dobový malíři ve svých malbách.
Olivier Masmonteill pracuje v duchu klasické malby s olejovými barvami, které mu mimo jiné umožňují déle propracovávat
jednotlivé vrstvy obrazu. Obraz tvoří procesem kopírování určité scény (vzpomínka, filmová scéna, fotografie, obraz…), kterou
následně vymazává a přetváří podle své fantazie do nového prostředí. Jeho malířským rukopisem se stalo charakteristické
použití barev, viditelné vymazávání a přemalování částí obrazu a jistá transparentnost. Autor má pro své obrazy mnoho inspirací,
které vidí ve veškerém výtvarném umění, fotografii, filmu, ale také zobrazuje své vlastní vzpomínky, příběhy a zapojuje fantazii.
„Painting is a river whom meanders lost themselves into the labyrinth of history of art, always in quest of its spring. I like to sail
against the tide on this Vltava river which go through landscapes of times. The water it contains is my history and my skiff:
painting. Sometimes I bath into it and I swim, my head turned toward the sky.“ Olivier Masmonteil
Olivier Masmonteil se narodil v roce 1973 v Romilly-Sur-Seine ve Francii a v současné době žije a pracuje v Paříži. Olivier
vystudoval École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux (1996-1999), kde studoval jak klasickou malbu, tak i nejnovější techniky
včetně videa a instalace. Dva roky působil v německém Lipsku v okruhu malířů okolo Nea Raucha. Hned první autorova
samostatná výstava v Paříži z něj udělala úspěšného výtvarníka, který se stal vyhledávaným sběrateli a galeristy. Autor má za
sebou již řadu úspěšných samostatných výstav v rodné Francii i po celé Evropě nebo Kanadě a také se účastnil mnoha
skupinových výstav v Evropě, Číně nebo New Yorku. Olivier Masmonteil je zastupován prestižní pařížskou galerií Dukan, ve
spolupráci s kterou vznikla jeho autorská výstava v Praze.

Gallery dvorak sec contemporary is pleased to announce the opening of
exhibition Une semaine et un jour à Prague (A week and a day in Prague)
of French contemporary artist Olivier Masmonteil who presents his
newest work for the first time in Prague. The French painter offers a
journey through his work where painting is a tool of escape inside space
and time. Olivier has been inspired by legendary Czech painters for this
exhibition, which he studied in museums and galleries in Prague.
French artist Olivier Masmonteil divides this exhibition Une semaine et un
jour à Prague, as well as his artistic works, into three chapters, which reveal
different aspects of classical painting. For twelve years he devoted the first
chapter, entitled La possibilité de peindre (Option paintings), where
through a single subject he studied landscape painting options; technically,
philosophically and personally. Landscape painting has become an
important part of Olivier's life and artistic production, which stood at the
beginning of the painter's success. In addition to large paintings he created
a series of 1000 small images of real landscapes from his travels around the
world that make up a diary of the artists memories. A selection of these paintings were, among others, exhibited in the
prestigious Leopold Museum in Vienna in a group exhibition Wolken (2013), alongside international artists such as Gerhard
Richter, Anselm Kiefer, Paul Cézanne, Claude Monet and William Turner.
Olivier is currently in his second chapter, which is called Le plaisir de peindre (Pleasure of painting), focusing more on narrative
and pleasure of painting without limitation of subject. Olivier creates scenes drawn from his memories, movie scenes, paintings
of the old masters, and his imagination, which gives rise to new stories. At a first glance, the viewer sees a crucial moment,
which is sharply and clearly painted. The viewer however also reveals other characters and objects in the misty outline,
investigating and completing a story.
Olivier Masmonteil decided to develop this exhibition as a film in which the viewer sees behind the scenes (landscape), scene
(interior) and the nature of the characters (subject) with links also to Czech art history. The theme of the exhibition has become
a retelling of stories, as throughout history has also shown with contemporary painters and their paintings.
Olivier Masmonteil works in the spirit of classical painting with oil paints, which among other things allow him to work longer
through the layers of the image. The image through this process forms a copy of scene (memory, movie, photograph,
painting...), which was subsequently erased and transformed by his imagination into a new environment. His signature
brushwork became characterized by his use of color, erasing and repainting the visible parts of the image and creating a certain
transparency. The artist is inspired by many aspects of the visual arts, photography, film, but also expresses his own memories,
stories and engages the imagination.

Olivier Masmonteil was born in 1973 in Romilly-Sur-Seine in France and currently lives and works in Paris. Olivier graduated from
the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Bordeaux (1996-1999), where he studied both classical painting and also new media,
including video and installation. For two years he worked in Leipzig, Germany with painters around Nea Rauch. Olivier’s first solo
exhibition in Paris made him a successful artist, who became sought-after by collectors and gallery owners. The artist has
already had several successful solo exhibitions in France and throughout Europe and Canada and has also participated in
numerous group exhibitions in Europe, China or New York. Olivier Masmonteil is represented by the prestigious Parisian Gallery
Dukan, with which his solo exhibition in Prague was established in cooperation with.
