Hedin Tex modems are suitable for assembly on a
35 mm DIN rail (protective rail). The modems are
mounted on the DIN rail by means of an assembly
base or foot, consisting of a retaining device for the
rail and a screw terminal strip for the interface connections. The modems are placed directly on the
assembly base whereby automatic contact with the
connections is established. This assembly base guarantees simple installation or the possibility of changing a unit.
All interfaces are directly accessible via the terminal strip without plug-in bridges/jumpers. The operating voltage is 24V DC, and the modems support
transfer speeds of up to 100,00 bits/s. They have
duplex, half duplex and simplex facilities. The range
of the M-1 modem interface is up to 21 km. That
of the current loop up to 6 km and the transfer distance of the RS 485 is up to 1000 m. The signal
status is displayed by means of LED’s (Power, RD,
TD and DCD) on the front panel. The short-distance
modems are code-transparent, i.e. they are completely independent of the data structure and the
protocols during transmission.
The transient protection in the modems provide
adequate safety in the event of lightning and over-
voltages, and the galvanic insulation of the modem
and converter connections provide protection where
there are potential differences. This protects not
only the devices but also the connected, and more
expensive terminal devices.
H-1: is the short-haul modem corresponding to M-1,
with a V.24/RS232 and an M-1 modem interface. The
maximum transfer speed is 100,000 bits/s, and the
transfer distance is up to 21 km. The modem has the
same functions as M-1.
H-2: This converter converts, in full duplex up to
19.200 bits/s, the current loop (20 mA current loop,
TTY) to a V.24/RS232. The transmitter and receiver
are present as separately active and passive connections on the screw terminals, and the converter has
the same functions as M-2/R-2.
H-5: This short-distance modem enables the RS485
to be converted to the V.24 or M-1 modem interface,
with transfer speeds of up to 100,000 bits/s. The
modem has the same functions as M-5.
