Learning outcomes:
Understanding the underlying theoretical assumptions, development and nature of theories
of money and its mouth on the economic and political implications.
- Students should be familiar with the development of alternative monetary theories.
Knowledge and understanding:
- Identify financial concepts and theories and to understand these concepts and theories
- Synthesize the essential features of monetary theories
Practical skills:
- Present a clearly structured, compelling and well-presented review of the literature
Competencies:
- The ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources
- The ability to abstract and analytical thinking and synthesis of ideas
- The ability to know and understand the area and profession
Course content:
Classical understanding of money. The quantity theory of money (transactional version,
Cambridge version). Theory of money and interest, J. M. Keynes. Neo-Keynesian theory of
money (W. Baumol, J. Tobin). Friedman´s monetarism. Post-Keynesian theory of
endogenous money. Hayek\'s theory of private money. The theory of rational expectations
and the current modification of the theory of money.
