IN GREEK PROJECTS FOR “CULTURE” 2013-14
THE GAME OF LIFE
The performing arts project ‘The Game of Life’ aims to develop performing arts
techniques inspired by the “Killing Game” by Eugene Ionesco. Starting from the
collaboration of actors and dancers, the “Game of Life” will explore modern
European reality issues on socio-political and psycho-emotional levels using the
prospect of death, as given by Ionesco’s play and the Theatre of the Absurd
manifestations. This effort not only aims at supporting a deeper consciousness and
comprehension of modern European reality, but also creating a new alphabet for
the modern performing artist.
Our joint project effort will/may include:
workshops, seminars, a symposium, a dance/theatre performance, visual /
multimedia arts scenery for the performance, original music composed for the
theatre performance etc and we looking for co-organisers/partners from dancing
and multimedia companies.
ESCAPE FROM MY COUNTRY,
ESCAPE THROUGH THE ARTS
From ancient times until today, immigrants of any kind have been the first people
to be involved in a cultural mobility process, in which different nations, languages,
religions, customs may co-exist either in harmony or in an eternal battle. The
project ‘Escape from my country, escape through the arts’ focuses on those
people, who leave their homelands hoping to find a new home that will embrace
them, carrying their roots within them. Using the arts as the basis of cultural
interconnection and exchange, we will create tools for a gentler and more sensitive
world towards differences.
Our joint project effort will/may include:
artistic and social science workshops, seminars on inter-culturalism and multiculturalism, a symposium, a visual arts exhibition on transitions etc., a theatre
performance exploring migration involving dance, visual/multimedia set designed
for the theatre performance, original music composed for the theatre performance
etc and we looking for co-organisers/partners from theatre, dancing and
multimedia companies.
HEAVEN
“Heaven” is a performing arts project inspired by Jean Genet and his work,
especially his novel “Querelle of Brest”. It focuses on the interpretation and
further development of Jean Genet’s philosophy of words and images by
performing artists and eventually the exploration of issues stemming from Genet’s
world, such as justice and injustice, punishment, rejection, diversity, racism,
authority, degradation of human existence and its value and so on; issues that have
a powerful influence on the contemporary world as we know it. The project will be
realised in European city-ports, paying respect to an emblematic locus in the work
of Genet, such as a port.
Our joint project effort will/may include:
workshops, seminars, a symposium, a theatre performance, visual/multimedia arts
scenery for the performance, original music composed for the theatre
performance, a digital photography exhibition etc.
COLOURFUL WORLD
Theatre has always been processing social issues, in an effort to make us more
conscious of the reasons and our behaviour towards them. One of the most intense
issues of contemporary Europe is about immigration, racism, fears and prejudices
about immigrants, conflicts and clash between immigrants and locals. The
“Colourful World” project is a performing arts project addressed mainly to
children target groups aiming to fight against prejudices and racism. Using theatre
techniques with children, “Colourful World” will bring forward and support mutual
understanding, respect and tolerance.
Our joint project effort will/may include:
workshops, seminars, a symposium, a children theatre performance, visual arts
exhibition, visual/multimedia arts scenery for the performance, original music
composed for the theatre performance etc.
ETERNAL CONFLICT
The project “Eternal Conflict” is a performing arts project dealing with the battle
between the masculine and feminine energy in theatre, as demonstrated in the
works of European dramaturgy, starting from the ancient Greek theatre works until
today. Using an original method to approach a theatre character and form the
structure of a whole theatre performance based on energy fields and selfconcentration philosophy, the project will eventually attempt to show the powerful
perspective of the eternal unity of masculine and feminine energy.
Our joint project effort will/may include:
workshops/seminars, theatre performance, a symposium, visual/multimedia arts
scenery for the performance, original music composed for the theatre performance
etc.
The projects above will apply for grant to the program CULTURE 2007-2013, Strand 1.2.1,
to be realized. Thus, we are looking for co-organisers/partners from all eligible countries
to support and enhance our idea with their capabilities into a joint effort.
