Dear Friends,
druhá polovina devatenáctého století, která
svými vědeckými objevy, technickými vynálezy
i podnikatelskými aktivitami vytvořila základ pro
dnešní podobu světa, dodnes vzbuzuje obdiv
a přináší inspiraci. Významnou osobností té
doby byl i Ludwig Moser, zakladatel sklárny,
jejíž jméno je více než stopětapadesát
let spojováno s křišťálem špičkové
uměleckořemeslné úrovně a kvality.
The second half of the nineteenth century, which laid
the foundations for the form of the world today with
its scientific discoveries, technical inventions and
business activities, is still admired today and it offers
inspiration. An important person of that time was
Ludwig Moser, the founder of the glassworks bearing
the name that has for more than one hundred and fifty
years been associated with crystal of a top art and
craft level and quality.

1927
Příběh věhlasné sklárny se zrodil v roce 1857 v Karlových Varech, kde
mladý talentovaný rytec a obchodník Ludwig Moser založil svou firmu
– obchod a ryteckou dílnu a později i vlastní sklárnu. Otevření firmy
v lázeňském městě, které navštěvovaly zámožné osobnosti celého světa,
znamenalo jasné zaměření výroby na náročnou klientelu. Panovnické
rody, významné osobnosti diplomatického, politického či kulturního
života nacházejí v křišťálu Moser požadovanou důstojnost, kvalitu
i krásu a neopakovatelnou originalitu uměleckých děl dodnes.

The story of the renowned glassworks started in 1857 in Karlovy Vary,
when a talented young engraver and businessman Ludwig Moser
founded his own firm – a shop and engraving works and later his own
glassworks. Opening the firm in a spa town which the wealthy of the
entire world visited meant a clear focus on production for a demanding
clientele. To this very day aristocratic families and important people of
diplomatic, political or cultural life find in Moser crystal the requisite
dignity, quality, beauty and inimitable originality of works of art.

Sklárna Moser se zaměřuje výhradně na výrobu křišťálu bez příměsí
olova. Práce s touto sklovinou je náročná, ale bezolovnatý křišťál vyniká
vysokým leskem, průzračností a rovněž tvrdostí, která umožňuje jemné

The Moser glassworks focuses exclusively on the manufacture of crystal
without the addition of lead. Work with molten glass is demanding, but
lead-free crystal is distinguished by its high shine, clarity and also hardness
allowing fine Moser cutting and detailed artistic engraving. Moser molten
glass is exceptional by virtue of these properties and extraordinary quality.
Special secret recipes are used for smelting coloured molten glass.

Sklářský mistr připomíná kouzelníka, pod jehož rukama vzniká ze žhavé
skloviny skutečný nový tvar. Dobrá fyzická kondice, cit pro týmovou práci
a láska ke křišťálu jsou pro skláře nezbytné. Mistři tvarují sklovinu
ve speciálních kovových formách nebo formách ručně vyrobených mistrem
formařem z tvrdého, zpravidla hruškového dřeva. K foukání skla se používají
sklářské píšťaly v různých délkách podle velikosti křišťálových výrobků.
The glass master craftsman is like a magician, whose hands form a true new
shape from the glowing molten glass. A high level of physical fitness, feeling for
teamwork and love of crystal are essential for glassmakers. The master craftsmen
shape the molten glass in special metal moulds or hardwood (generally pear
wood) moulds handmade by a mould maker. Blowpipes of various lengths
depending on the size of the crystal products are used for glassblowing.

Talent a fortel, síla i cit pro jemný brus - to jsou vlastnosti, které
charakterizují mistra brusiče. Desítky hodin drží pevně v rukou
kilogramy vážící dílo, kotouči různých profilů precizně
vybrušuje předepsané linie a tvary a následně leští v několika
krocích až na vysoký lesk - to je výkon hodný
uznání. Chyba se neodpouští. Pouze dokonalý výrobek
může opustit manufakturu.
Talent and dexterity, strength and feeling for a fine cut - these are
the properties which characterise a master glass cutter. For tens of
hours he firmly holds a piece weighing several kilograms, using disks
of different profiles he cuts the prescribed lines and shapes, and
then polishes them to a high polish in several steps - this is
a performance worthy of acknowledgement. Errors are unforgivable.
Only a perfect product can leave the manufacturing plant.

Obrazy ve skle - to jsou umělecké rytiny Moser. Nestvořil je
však malíř štětcem, ale mistr rytec pomocí ryteckých
kotoučků. Podle náročnosti námětu pracuje mistr na rytině
i několik měsíců. Detailně ryté předlohy slavných obrazů,
ornamentální motivy, figurální výjevy či kompozice ze světa
fauny a flóry rozvíjející se v celých plochách, vynikají živostí
a opravdovostí. Takové je umění moserovských rytců,
nejlepších rytců křišťálu na světě.
Pictures in the glass - these are the artistic Moser engravings. But they were
not created by a painter with a brush, but a master engraver with several
engraving disks. Depending on the difficulty of the subject, the master
engraver might spend several months working on an engraving. The detailed
engraving of themes taken from famous paintings, ornamental motifs, figural
scenes or compositions based on the world of flora and fauna developing
over entire surfaces are distinguished by their vitality and realism. This is the
art of Moser engravers, the best crystal engravers in the world.

Výtvarný vývoj křišťálu Moser od svého počátku na nové stylové
impulsy nejen reagoval, ale zároveň přinášel nové originální směry
ve sklářském designu. Tak je tomu i v případě zdobení křišťálu
zlatými dekoracemi. Oblíbené malování zlatem sklárna obohatila
o další techniku, tzv. oroplastiku, kdy je dekor nejprve do skla
vypískován nebo vybroušen, poté je malovaný zlatem, vypalovaný
a konečně leštěný achátovými a krevelovými kameny. Zručné
a trpělivé malířky nanášejí a leští tekuté zlato či platinu
bez sebemenší chybičky.
From its very beginning the creative development of Moser Crystal has
attempted not only to react to new style impulses, but also to offer
new and original directions in glass design. This is also true in the case
of the gold decoration applied to crystal. The glassworks has expanded
its popular gold painting to include a new technique, so-called gold
relief, where the design is first sand blasted or ground into the glass
and is then painted with gold, fired, and in the end polished using agate
and haematite stones. With dexterity and patience the painters apply
and polish the liquid gold or platinum without the slightest error.
