Prezentaci lze použít pro žáky čtyřletých maturitních oborů v rámci probíraného tématu: My Town. Cílem tohoto celku bylo seznámit žáky s významnými městy Pardubického kraje, odkud pochází. Celek byl doplněn o 3 města, která nejsou z pardubického kraje, ale pro maturitní zkoušku je jejich znalost zásadní. Každá prezentace obsahuje interaktivní část, kde si student může ověřit svoji znalost kliknutím na obrázek konkrétní architektonické památky. Datum vytvoření 18. 5. 2013 The Old Town Square in Prague [obr.1] Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic, the seat of the president, government and parliament and it is the cultural, political and economical centre of the country. It is extended on both banks of the river Vltava in the centre of Bohemia. It is the fourteenth-largest city in the European Union. It has nearly 2 000 000 inhabitants. It consists of 10 districts. The best known are: the Old Town, the Lesser Town, the New Town, the Jewish Town, the Hradčany district and the Vinohrady district. Prague castle is the dominant of the city and it can be found in the Hradčany district. It is the seat of the president and also the election of the president takes place there. There are several halls to be found in the castle, Vladislav Hall which was built in late gothic style and Spanish Hall and Rudolph Gallery which serve for ceremonial purposes. In the area of the castle we can also find Saint Vitus‘ Cathedral of baroque origin which was built based on plans by Matthias of Arras and Petr Parléř. It has two important parts : the Royal Crypt and the Coronation Chamber where the crown jewels are kept. It is an impressive work of Gothic architecture and it was finished only in 1929. The picturesque Charles Bridge can be found in the Lesser Town and it is a magnet for tourists. It was built in the gothic style and decorated with 30 sculptures of a baroque origin made by Braun and Brokoff. The Old Town Hall is situated in the the Old Town. The astronomical clock from the 15th century are another popular tourist attraction. There is a part showing us time and the position of the sun and the moon and there is a calendar with signs of the zodiac and scenes by Josef Mánes. Wenceslas Square is the most frequent square of the whole Prague. It is situated in the New Town. In its upper part there is Saint Wenceslas Memorial (a bronze statue of Prince Wenceslas on a horse) created by Josef Václav Myslbek. The National Museum is also located in the upper part of the Wenceslas Square and it houses historical and natural history collections. The museum was built in the Neorenaissance style and it is beeing renovated these days. The oldest building in Prague is the Rotunda of Saint Martin in Vyšehrad. It dates back to the last quarter of the 11th century (romanesque style).
