Thanksgiving Day
• On Thanksgiving Day families and friends
tradiotionally get together for a special meal. It
usually is a turkey, stuffing, potatoes, cranberry
sauce, gravy, pumpkin pie, and vegetables.
• The first Thanksgiving Day was celebrated in in
Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1621 when the first
permanent European settlers – the Pilgrims
celebrated the first harvest in the New World.
• George Washington, the first president of the United
States, proclaimed the first national Thanksgiving
Day in 1789.
