NEW NEW! 2006 International Festival of Unusual Music and Film. 15th – 19th November 2006 Club Fléda, Brno In this the second year of the New New! festival, Fleda and it’s partners are bringing to Brno a very ambitious and interesting project in the shape of a five day festival, which with the number of guests, and the large number of Czech premiers must be in the running for Indoor Festival of the Season. This year of the New New! festival is certainly more substantial, and after last year’s pilot festival, a cooperative of Fleda, Fiume, Me.You, Galerie Eskort and Level B production are putting together an enriching program at Brno’s biggest club, Fleda. As the name undoubtedly suggests the ambitions of the festival are to present new trends in music, film and the visual arts and establish the reputation of a festival which you will certainly hear more about. Music is the most extensively curated section of the festival and it’s divided into three evenings following three different themes. Neu Neu! is the first of these three evenings and it aims to present highlights of the current Berlin Club Scene – Rechenzentrum, Namosh, Miwon and Candie Hank in the company of local outfit MidiLidi is aimed at lovers of Electroclash, Minimal and IDM, as well as BootyBass and Dada alt-electro. The second evening, entitled „Influenced by H-H“ (17th Nov), will present music which has it’s roots in Hip Hop, even if it has taken only the smallest homeopathic dose a taken it to whatever variant: Floridian „masachrist“ Otto Von Schirach; German Jahcoozi with their excellent singer and rapper Sasha Perera; Miss Hawai the japanese nutjob or the latest „divnorap“ sounds from Slovakia in the shape of Karaoke Tundra and Peto Tazok, who’ve just released their album on the Czech Republic’s Muteme label. The curation of the final day of music (18th Nov) is perhaps best summed up in it’s name „indietronics / lo-fi“. Pendler and Liger, a duo from Austria; Pink Big Pig musical humourists from Slovakia and Brno’s own Materidouska. Film and video of course has it’s own special place at the New New! 2006 festival. „Policy of Forms“ on the 15th November will be a chance for Jesper Alvaer, David Calek, Radim Spacek, Petr Marek, Mark Ther and Michal Pechoucek to present their work. Also in the projector during this festival will be the work of independent French Filmmakers from Anna Sanders Films (19th Nov). And on the final day of the festival there will be a live performance of „Janosik’s Trip“. The videoinstallations at Fleda will be taken care of by Fiume and Anymade and to round off an excellent festival we also expect to have lectures, seminars, discussions and workshops conducted in cooperation with the Brno Faculty of Fine Arts and also with the some of the performers from the festival (workshops on the use of Ableton Live, discussions with Jergen from Project Southeast and with Rechenzentrum from Berlin).
