Výroční zpráva Nadačního fondu IMPULS za rok 2012 je souhrnem událostí, které jsou pro někoho rekapitulací, pro
jiného novou informací.
Cílem výroční zprávy je poskytnout veřejnosti přehledné a transparentní informace za uplynulý rok. Každá výroční
­zpráva je tečkou za rokem uplynulým, bilancí naší práce, rok vtěsnaný do útlého svazku a několika slov.
12 let práce NFI je období, na které je dobře se podívat jako na celek, a i když výroční zpráva bilancuje pouze poslední
rok, v úvodu se můžeme v několika větách ohlédnout zpět. Nadační fond IMPULS vyplnil mezeru na poli pomoci lidem
s roztroušenou sklerózou mozkomíšní, z úhlu pohledu pacientů jako celku, z pohledu financování projektů v oblasti
výzkumu, léčby, rehabilitace a osvěty.
Nejprve se můžeme na chvíli zastavit u toho prvního, počtu let práce, které má NFI za sebou. Číslo 12. 12 let do
tuctu, 12 měsíců v roce, v mantinelech, které jsou určující pro dnešní svět, je to 12 učedníků Ježíše Nazaretského…
­moment, který je v tomto okamžiku naplněný, ale ne uzavřený a další a nové leží před námi. Bez pomoci všech těch,
kteří jsou NFI věrní ve své podpoře osobní, pracovní, finanční, bychom se dnes neměli na co podívat.
První roky a první nejprve malé a pomalé krůčky, první projekty a první dosažené cíle. Ať už se jednalo o pohyblivý
chodník či infuzní křesla pro MS ambulance, přes otevření MS centra na Karlově náměstí, k podpoře výzkumných
projektů jako je „Farmakogenomika RS“, OCT vyšetření, které je důležité pro sledování dynamiky onemocnění MS,
k projektům posledních let, fyzioterapie, vybavení rehabilitační místnosti, psychoterapie, k projektu zatím největšímu,
a tím je Registr pacientů. Důležitý nejen dnes, ale pro budoucnost. Šance, jak nejenom držet krok s dámou jménem
Skleróza Roztroušená, šance na dobrý život.
Je-li člověku diagnostikována nemoc, která ho bude provázet s nepředvídatelným průběhem po celý jeho život, je
před něj postavena výzva – výzva tak veliká, že by ho mohla i zavalit. Je mnoho způsobů, jak se s touto výzvou vyrovnat, jak ji přijmout i odmítnout…řada způsobů je obdivuhodných a může ukazovat cestu i k vyrovnání se s daleko

méně náročnými výzvami našich běžných životů… Považujeme za velmi důležité podporovat vše, co podporovat lze,
protože jenom tak se břímě, které bylo životem naděleno některým z nás, stane lehčím a snesitelnějším.

Annual Report 2012 of the Endowment Fund IMPULS (EFI) is a summary of events, that are just a recapitulation for
someone, and also a new information for someone else.
The aim of the Annual Report is to provide the public with clear and transparent information about the last year. Every
Annual Report is a fullstop at the end of the past year. It is a balance of our work, a year squeezed in a few words into
a thin booklet.
12 years of work of the EFI is a period good to be seen as a whole. And although the Annual Report balances only
the last year, in the introduction we can have a look back in the past. Endowment Fund IMPULS filled the gap in the

area of relief for people with cerebrospinal multiple sclerosis from the point of view of patients as a whole, concerning
financing of projects in the area of research, treatment, rehabilitation, and public awareness.
Now, we could have a pause for a while, and thing a little about the first notion, i.e. the number of years EFI has been
working. Number 12. 12 years represent a dozen, there are 12 month in a year, the barriers that define the world of
­today, 12 were the apostles of Jesus the Nazarene… It is the moment, that is filled by now but not closed yet and
­other new moments lay before us. Without the help of all those people who are faithful in their personal, work and
financial support we would have nothing to look at today.
First years, and first small and slow steps at the beginning, first projects and first accomplishments. Starting with
a moving pavement or infusion chairs in MS outpatients' departments, through opening of the MS center in ­Karlovo
náměstí, Prague, support of research projects such as “Pharmacogenomics of MS”, OCT examination which is important for monitoring the dynamics of the MS disease, to the projects of the last years including physiotherapy, psychotherapy and the biggest project since then – The Register of Patients. This is important not only for the present but
also for the future. It is a chance to keep up with the lady called Multiple Sclerosis, it is a chance to live a good life.
When a person is diagnosed a disease with unpredictable course that will accompany him for the rest of his life, he is
faced with a challenge – a challenge that is so enormous that it could even overburden him. There are many ways to
cope with this challenge, how to accept or refuse it. Many approaches of grasping this challenge are admirable and
can show a way to cope with other less demanding challenges in our everyday life… We consider important supporting everything possible because this is the only way to make the burden placed on some of us by the life easier and
more endurable.
This Annual Report was approved by the Managing Board of Endowment Fund IMPULS on 4/15/2013.
It is impossible to thank enough all those who support us, and so enable us to help others. Nevertheless, accept
please our big thank you, because without you we could not have achieved anything…

Vznik a poslání
Nadačního fondu IMPULS
Nadační fond IMPULS byl založen dne 6. 4. 2000 jako první a jediný subjekt, který se bude specializovat na širokou
problematiku roztroušené sklerózy. Do této doby zde totiž neexistovala žádná nadace či nadační fond, který by se
výhradně věnoval tomuto tématu. Základními úkoly nadačního fondu od počátku bylo šíření osvěty o této veřejnosti
dosud málo známé nemoci, získávání finančních darů na úhradu léčebných a rehabilitačních projektů a podpora
výzkumu. Prvenství a jedinečnost Nadačního fondu IMPULS zůstala do konce roku 2012, protože není do dnešní
doby žádný jiný nadační fond či nadace, které by se problematikou roztroušené sklerózy mozkomíšní na území České
­republiky zabývala.
Cílem bylo a zůstává transparentní rozdělování získaných finančních prostředků na škálu projektů tak, aby byla pokryta
potřeba co největšího počtu příjemců – pacientů s rozlišnými potřebami. V České republice NFI podporuje především
specializovaná centra léčby roztroušené sklerózy, která poskytují odbornou péči našim pacientům. Dalšími podporo­
vanými subjekty jsou lůžková zařízení se specializací na RS a dále terapeutické aktivity.
Finanční náročnost léčby je vysoká a raketově stoupá i počet pacientů s touto diagnózou. Oba faktory kladou vysoké
nároky na finanční prostředky státu, potažmo zdravotních pojišťoven. Proto roste význam Nadačního fondu IMPULS,
který se snaží pokrývat ty potřeby, které nejsou hrazeny z veřejného zdravotního pojištění. Nadační příspěvky tedy hrají
nezastupitelnou roli a jsou vždy vítaným přínosem pro zúčastněné subjekty. Ruku v ruce jde vždy transparentní využití
finančních prostředků, které směřuje k co nejvyššímu počtu pacientů. Právě pro otevřenou transparentnost a pevné
místo na trhu neziskových organizací důvěra veřejnosti v Nadační fond IMPULS roste.
V současné době je v České republice přibližně 19.000 pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou mozkomíšní. Tento počet
neustále roste. Jedná se o jednu z civilizačních nemocí, která se týká hlavně mladých lidí ve věku 20 – 40 let, ze
2/3 žen a z 1/3 mužů. V současné době je roztroušená skleróza nejčastějším onemocněním nervového systému
u dospívajících.

Nadační fond IMPULS pracuje od svého vzniku v kontextu čtyř hlavních cílů.
Cíl první
– vytvořit pro nemocné s roztroušenou sklerózou odborné centrum zajišťující komplexní péči. Právě takové MS
­centrum bylo v roce 2007 otevřeno na Karlově nám. 32 v Praze 2. Centrum, které soustředilo lékaře, odborný zdravotnický personál, neuropsychology, fyzioterapeuty, psychoterapeuty, sociální pracovníky.
Hlavní myšlenkou bylo vytvořit tým odborníků s holistickým přístupem k pacientovi. Jak ukazují současné výsledky
odborných studií, byla to myšlenka správná. Roztroušená skleróza má mnoho tváří a podob, neexistuje stejný pacient,
neexistuje jednotný návod. K léčbě medikamentózní je nutné přiřadit fyzioterapii, psychoterapii a odborné sociální
­poradenství. Pak teprve se jedná o léčbu komplexní.
Cíl druhý
– podpora rehabilitace – je úkolem, který doplňuje cíl první. Jedná se o dvě polohy. První polohou je finanční ­podpora
fyzického cvičení pod vedením rehabilitačních pracovníků, druhou polohou je individuální či skupinová psycho­tera­
peutická péče.
U roztroušené sklerózy se více než u jiných onemocnění prolínají obě složky a ve spojení s kvalitní medikamentózní
léčbou přispívají k oddálení progrese onemocnění. Tento velmi důležitý moment ve výsledku s sebou nese schopnost
pacientů déle se účastnit pracovního a společenského života. Mohou vrátit společnosti to, co do nich investovala.
Podpora této oblasti znamená potřebu specializovaných terapeutů. V posledních pěti letech Nadační fond IMPULS
investoval mnoho energie a finančních prostředků právě do této oblasti.
Cíl třetí
– podpora vědy a výzkumu v dané oblasti. Přes velký technický i vědecký pokrok není zatím známa příčina onemocnění.
Vzhledem k tomu, že do roku 2012 neexistoval v České republice centrální registr pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou,
který by poskytoval data pro výzkumné, statistické a nákladové účely, Nadační fond IMPULS se rozhodl, že bude jeho
zřizovatelem právě proto, aby napomohl k objevu léku, který je nedočkavě očekáván všemi pacienty s diagnózou G35.
Pacientský registr ReMuS je unikátním v zemích Evropské unie proto, že jako jediný je financován z nadačních zdrojů.
Cíl čtvrtý
– osvětová činnost. Pojem „osvěta“ je leckdy chápán veřejností jako věc v době informačních technologií zbytečná.
V případě roztroušené sklerózy, kdy se onemocnění nedotýká jen pacienta samotného, ale i jeho rodiny, přátel,
­pracovních vztahů, má i dnes osvěta svoji nezastupitelnou pozici. Je třeba informovat o příznacích, bít na poplach
v případě zákonného zajištění léčby, poskytovat informace mladým lidem, varovat před vžitými mýty a v neposlední
řadě dodávat optimismus všem těm, kterým už chybí…
V roce 2013 se IMPULS, nadační fond stal členem Asociace nadačních fondů Fóra dárců.

Establishment and Mission
of the Endowment Fund IMPULS
Endowment Fund IMPULS was founded on April 6, 2000, as the first and only subject that would specialize in the wide
issue of multiple sclerosis. Until then, there was neither foundation nor endowment fund dedicated exclusively to this
matter. Since the beginning, basic tasks of the Endowment Fund were raising of public awareness about the disease
that was little known by the public, gaining of financial donations for treatment, and rehabilitation projects, and support
of research. The primacy and uniqueness of the Endowment Fund IMPULS persisted until the end of 2012, because
there is no other endowment fund or foundation dealing with the issue of cerebrospinal multiple sclerosis in the Czech
Republic until now.
The aim was and still is a transparent distribution of gained financial means for a range of projects in order to meet the
needs of the largest number possible of beneficiaries – patients with different needs. Primarily, the EFI in the Czech
Republic supports specialized centers for treatment of multiple sclerosis that provide professional care to our patients.
Other supported subjects are specialized bed units for MS and therapeutic activities.
Financial demands of the treatment are high, and the number of patients with this diagnose skyrockets as well. Both
factors have high demands for financial means from the state, not to say from health insurance. Therefore, the importance of the Endowment Fund IMPULS increases. The Fund tries to cover those needs that are not covered by public
health insurance. So endowment contributions play an irreplaceable role and they are always a welcomed benefit
for subjects involved. Hand in hand with it goes always a transparent use of financial means directed to the highest
number possible of patients. Right for its open transparency and its firm position on the market of non-profit-institutions, the confidence of the public in the Endowment Fund IMPULS grows.
Today, there are about 19,000 patients with cerebrospinal multiple sclerosis in the Czech Republic. And their number
increases continuously. Multiple sclerosis is a civilization disease. Most often it appears in people between the ages of
20 and 40 and twice as many women are affected by MS as men. Currently, the MS is the most common neurological
disease of young adults.

Since its establishment, the Endowment Fund IMPULS operates in the context of four major aims.
Aim 1
– Creation of a professional center providing a complete care. In 2007, was opened exactly such a center in Karlovo
náměstí 32 in Prague 2. This center concentrated doctors, professional medical staff, neuropsychologists, physiothe­
rapists, psychotherapists, social workers.
The main idea was the creation of a team of specialists with a holistic approach to patients. As the results of recent
expert studies show, this was a good idea. Multiple sclerosis has different faces and manifestations. No two people
afflicted with MS have exactly the same symptoms, there is not a unique approach or way of treatment. It is necessary
to add physiotherapy, psychotherapy and professional social consultancy to the medications. Only then the care is
complete.
Aim 2
– Support of rehabilitation – it is a task that supplements Aim 1. It has two different aspects. First aspect is the financial
support of physical exercises under the tutelage of rehabilitation staff. Second aspect is individual or group psychotherapeutic care.
In case of multiple sclerosis, more than in any other disease, both aspects blend together, and in combination with
a good medication care contribute to reduce the progress of the disease. This is a very important point that enables
patients to participate in occupational and social life. So they can give back to the society what has been invested in
them. Support of this area means the need of specialized therapists. Endowment Fund IMPULS invested great energy
and financial means exactly in this area, in the last five years.
Aim 3
– Support of science and research in the given area. Despite the large technical and scientific progress the cause of
multiple sclerosis is still unknown. Considering that until 2012 there was no central register of patients with multiple
sclerosis providing data for research, statistic and cost purposes, the Endowment Fund IMPULS decided to found
such a register. In this way it wants to help to discover a medicament that all patients with diagnosis code G35 expect
with anxiety. The Patient Register ReMuS is unique in EU countries because it is the only one that is financed from
­endowment sources.
Aim 4
– Raising of public awareness. In time of information technology, term “public awareness” is considered as something
useless. As the disease affects not only the patient himself but also his family, friends and labor relations, public awareness has, in case of multiple sclerosis, its irreplaceable position today. It is necessary to inform about the symptoms,
set the alarm bells ringing in case of legitimate assurance of treatment, providing of information to young people,
­warning against established myths and last but not least impart optimism to all those who already miss it…
In 2013, Endowment Fund IMPULS became member of the Association of endowment funds Donor Forum.

Na tento účet byla převedena část finančních zdrojů nadačního fondu z důvodu jejich příznivějšího zhodnocení.

Činnost a aktivity nadačního fondu
v roce 2012
Aktivity Nadačního fondu IMPULS směřovaly k realizaci cílů, které si nadační fond vytyčil při svém vzniku.
Projekt MaRS
Projekt pro Nadační fond IMPULS byl vytvořen samotnými pacienty, kteří si uvědomují potřebu fyzické aktivity jako
nedílné součásti léčby.
Ve dnech 9. – 10. března 2012 se v prostorách Centra funkčního pohybu Daniela Mullera v Praze 5 konal 1. ročník
24hodinového maratónu s roztroušenou sklerózou, při kterém se 24 hodin střídaly jednotlivé týmy složené z pacientů,
lékařů, sestřiček, terapeutů, rodinných příslušníků a přátel. Svoje síly změřily i známé osobnosti jako Jan Čenský,
Martin France, Mirek Hrabě a Vlasta Horváth. Aktivně cvičilo takřka 90 přítomných.
Cílem projektu MaRS je pochopení šance aktivního přístupu k věcem, které se týkají nás samých.
Koncert pro IMPULS, nadační fond, divadlo MINOR, Praha, 18. 4. 2012
Již posedmé se koncert uskutečnil na základě benefiční spolupráce s hudebním seskupením Clarinet Factory, jehož
takřka nedílnou součást tvoří jazzový mág Alan Vitouš. Hostem byla Lenka Dusilová. Večer byl provázen laskavým
­moderátorským slovem Miroslava Táborského, jehož detailní znalost celé problematiky byla příjemná.
K publicitě koncertu přispělo mediální partnerství rádia Ethno a rádia Impuls, jehož celoplošné pokrytí zajišťuje přenos
informací do všech koutů naší republiky. Záznam průběhu koncertu byl vydán na pamětním dárkovém DVD.
Výtěžek koncertu pro IMPULS ve výši 310.068 Kč byl použit na úhradu psychoterapie v MS centrech v Praze 2
a v Plzni.
Tisková konference Národní den boje proti roztroušené skleróze, literární kavárna H+H, Praha, 25. 6. 2012
Tisková konference byla uspořádána u příležitosti Národního dne boje proti roztroušené skleróze. Cílem setkání
s novináři bylo upozornit na neuspokojivý stav české zdravotnické praxe. Roztroušená skleróza je onemocnění, které si
nikdo nezpůsobí nedbalostí, není dědičná ani infekční. Přitom právě na tom, jak rychle je pacient léčen, závisí jeho život
a budoucí schopnost existence bez trvalé invalidity. Byl představen projekt ReMuS, z jehož dat právě vyplyne, že se
finančně vyplatí zahájit léčbu RS včas.

Předseda KDU-ČSL Pavel Bělobrádek předal Nadačnímu fondu IMPULS šek ve výši 15.000 Kč. Tuto informativní akci
společně připravil Nadační fond IMPULS a Pavel Bělobrádek, předseda KDU-ČSL.
Tiskové konferenci předcházelo upozornění na diskutované téma ve formě rozhovoru v pořadu STOP Českého

Výzva k předkládání projektů, 1. 6. 2012 – 30. 11. 2012
Na základě rozhodnutí správní rady Nadačního fondu IMPUSL byla vyhlášena výzva na předkládání projektů v oblasti
výzkumu, léčby, terapie a osvěty roztroušené sklerózy. Žádosti o nadační příspěvky bylo možné podávat v období od
1. 6. do 30. 9. 2012. Následně pro velký zájem veřejnosti byla výzva prodloužena do 30. 11. 2012. Formální posouzení
a doplnění žádostí probíhalo do 31. 12. 2012.
Z důvodu posunu termínu byly jednotlivé žádosti, které splnily kriteria výzvy a současně naplnily cíle statutu nadačního
fondu, předkládány správní radě postupně. Žadatelem mohla být odborná MS centra, jiná pracoviště či fyzické osoby zabývající se problematikou roztroušené sklerózy z celé České republiky. Podpora projektu byla stanovena formou
nadačního příspěvku. Upřednostněny byly projekty s více než ročním působením. Dalším požadavkem bylo i kvalitní
zpracování projektu včetně všech povinných a relevantních příloh s cílem důsledného naplnění jednoho ze čtyř základních cílů nadačního fondu.
Pro úplnost je třeba dodat, že v průběhu roku 2012 – mimo termín výzvy – byly správní radou odsouhlaseny a následně
proplaceny další nadační příspěvky, které jsou podrobně uvedeny v další části této výroční zprávy.
5. pražský ETHNOFEST, Michnův palác, Praha, 26. 9. 2012
Hudební pohlazení spojené s oslavou čtvrtých narozenin rádia ETHNO a počtvrté věnované v rámci osvěty právě
našemu nadačnímu fondu bylo poprvé organizováno na volném prostranství pod širým nebem. Ethnofest byl zasvěcen
bluesové a funky hudbě. Letos poprvé byla akce propojena s festivalem Etnica poetica. Díky tomuto propojení vystoupili
argentinští básníci, arabské skupiny, polská šansoniérka a další.
Jednalo se o unikátní multikulturní akci, která spojovala celý svět bez ohledu na etnickou příslušnost.
Vernisáž výstavy Cesta za duhou, HUB, Praha, 12.11. 2012
Jubilejní 10. ročník výstavy děl pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou se konal od 12. 11. do 30. 11. 2012. Ke ­shlédnutí
byly šperky, fotografie, malby, sochy i grafiky. Záštitu nad touto tradiční výstavou převzala paní Lenka Kohoutová,
poslankyně parlamentu ČR. Nadační fond IMPULS patřil k partnerům tohoto ojedinělého projektu.

Krabička novinek – prezentační materiál Nadačního fondu IMPULS
Prezentační materiál s aktuálními informacemi o roztroušené skleróze a Nadačním fondu IMPULS, který je určen pro
širokou laickou veřejnost, a má zajímavou podobu skládačky ve tvaru krabičky, byl vzhledem k uvažovaným budoucím
cílům přeložen do angličtiny v nákladu 500 ks výtisků.

Edukační činnost
V rámci edukační činnosti byla podpořena účast českých lékařů z oboru neurologie se specializací na roztroušenou
sklerózu mozkomíšní na několika světových kongresech. Důvodem podpory ze strany Nadačního fondu IMPULS byl
přenos nových poznatků ze světového výzkumu a jejich aplikace do českého prostředí.
V rámci edukační činnosti IMPULS, nadační fond vydal brožuru standardů o léčbě pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou
a neuromyelitis optica. Tato publikace byla zdarma distribuována do všech odborných center v České republice, aby
byla zajištěna její dostupnost pro naše pacienty.
Projekt ReMuS
V listopadu 2012 byl odstartován unikátní projekt ReMuS – celostátní registr pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou. Pacienti s roztroušenou sklerózou na rozdíl od jiných nákladných onemocnění doposud neměli svůj registr, který by poskytoval
data, po kterých volají mnozí odborníci a na jejichž absenci si stěžují někteří úředníci. Po několika letech teoretických
fází pokračujeme fází praktickou. Register Multiple Sclerosis vzniká ve spolupráci s odborným garantem projektu Sekcí
pro neuroimunologii a likvorologii České lékařské společnosti Jana Evangelisty Purkyně. Hlavním cílem projektu je určení
skutečného počtu pacientů s touto diagnózou, jehož odhad je mezi 17.000 – 19.000.
Jelikož se jedná o citlivá data, budou tato chráněna podle právních předpisů pro ochranu osobních údajů v ČR. Účast
na projektu je svobodným a bezplatným rozhodnutím pacienta na základě jeho informovaného souhlasu.
Vedlejšími cíli jsou digitální zpracování dokumentace, určení výskytu onemocnění, nákladnost léčby a její efektivita,
práceschopnost pacientů, získání epidemiologických dat, získání dat pro plátce zdravotní péče a další instituce tak, aby
mohly být plánovány finanční prostředky na léčbu. Data by měla sloužit i pro vědecké výzkumné účely, abychom napomohli ke zjištění příčiny roztroušené sklerózy.
Do pilotní dvouleté fáze budou zahrnuti pacienti, kteří jsou v odborných centrech léčeni tzv. biologickou léčbou.
Rozpočet na první dva roky dosahuje téměř 9 miliónů korun. Jedná se o největší projekt v historii nadačního fondu.
V dalších fázích bude probíhat sběr dat pacientů v odborných centrech na jiné léčbě a následně sběr dat v ostatních
zařízeních po celé České republice.
Je to projekt, který je rozsáhlý svým objemem a dobou trvání, projekt na desítky let. Podobné registry jsou již několik let
podporovány Světovou zdravotnickou organizací a v roce 2012 byly národní registry pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou
podpořeny i Evropským parlamentem ve formě deklarace pro státní podporu vzniku národních registrů RS. V České
republice se jedná o ojedinělou situaci, kdy tento registr vzniká za pomoci nadačního financování.

U každé nákladné nemoci existuje v ČR databáze počtu pacientů a příslušných údajů.
Jelikož taková data u zatím nevyléčitelné roztroušené sklerózy chybí, Nadační fond IMPULS
jako jediná instituce inicioval první celostátní registr pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou
(ReMuS) v ČR. Odborný garantem projektu je Sekce neuroimunologie a likvorologie České
neurologické společnosti ČLS JEP. V řadě evropských zemí jsou registry pacientů s RS vedeny
již desítky let.

CÍLE REMUSU
— Zjistit skutečný počet pacientů s diagnózou RS.
— Poskytovat informace zdravotním pojišťovnám. Registr jim umožní plánovat finance tak,
aby každý stávající i nový pacient dostal adekvátní a účinnou léčbu co nejrychleji.
— Vytvářet ucelený obraz efektivity nákladné léčby.
— Získávat informace o průběhu onemocnění pacienta, které slouží pro výzkum a vývoj
nových léků.
— Rozpoznávat rizikové faktory pro prevenci RS.
 

Osobní údaje v registru budou chráněny podle právních předpisů ČR. Financování provozu
registru na první dva roky, které činí 9 milionů korun, je zajištěno z prostředků IMPULSU.
Nadační fond nemá žádné státní příspěvky či jinou formu veřejné podpory. Všechny peníze
pocházejí od našich dárců.

of the Endowment Fund in 2012
Activities of the Endowment Fund IMPULS focused on the realization of aims set at its establishment.
Project MaRS
Project MaRS was created for the Endowment Fund IMPULS by the patients themselves. They realize the need of
physical activity as an inseparable part of treatment.
From March 9 to 10, 2012, the 1st year of 24hour marathon with multiple sclerosis took place in the Center of
­Functional Movement Daniel Müller in Prague 5. Within 24 hours, alternated different teams of patients, doctors,
­nurses, therapists, family members and friends. Also some personalities such as Jan Čenský, Martin France, Mirek
Hrabě and Vlasta Horváth joined the patients. About 90 people took actively part and made physical exercises.
The aim of the project MaRS is understanding of the chance to approach actively things that concern us.
Concert for IMPULS, Endowment Fund, Theatre MINOR, Prague, 4/18/2012
Already for the seventh time, a concert took place in cooperation with musical grouping Clarinet Factory, whose
­almost inseparable part is the jazz magician Alan Vitouš. Lenka Dusilová was the guest. The evening performance
was ­accompanied by the kind words of the presenter Miroslav Táborský, whose detailed knowledge of the issue was
grati­fing. Media partnership of radio Ethno and Czech Republic wide broadcasting Radio Impuls contributed to the
publicity of the concert. Czech Republic wide broadcasting Radio Impuls guarantees the transmission of information
to every part of the republic. Recording of the concert was issued as a commemorative gift DVD.
The proceeds of the concert amounted to CZK 310,068 and it was used to cover psychotherapy costs in MS Centers
in Prague 2 and Plzeň.
Press Conference: National Day of Fight Against Multiple Sclerosis,
Literary Café H+H, Prague 2, 6/25/2012
A Press conference was arranged on the occasion of the National day of Fight Against Multiple Sclerosis. The meeting
with journalists aimed at drawing attention to the unsatisfactory state of the Czech medical practice. Multiple sclerosis
is a disease that is not caused by carelessness, it is neither hereditary nor infectious. At the same time, the life of the
patient and his future ability to exist without permanent invalidity depends on a swift treatment. The project ReMuS
was presented and from the data contained in it, it will be clear that it is financially convenient to start the treatment
of MS in time.

15,000 CZK. This informatory event was organized together by Endowment Fund IMPLUS and Pavel Bělobrádek,

Call for Presentation of Projects, 6/1/2012 – 11/30/2012
Based on the decision of the Managing Board of the Endowment Fund IMPULS a call for presentation of projects
regarding research, treatment, therapy and public awareness concerning multiple sclerosis has been launched. From
6/1/2012 to 9/30/2012, it was possible to submit applications for endowment contribution. Subsequently, because
of a great interest of the public, the call was prolonged to 11/30/2012. Formal assessment and completion of applications proceeded until 31/12/2012. Because of the shift of deadline, individual applications that met the criteria of
the call and at the same time complied with aims of the Endowment Funds Statute were gradually submitted to the
­Managing Board.
Professional MS centers, other departments or physical persons dealing with the issue of multiple sclerosis in the
Czech Republic could present an application. Support of the project was set in the form of endowment contribution.
Projects with duration longer than one year were given priority. Another requirement was a quality processing of the
project including all obligatory and relevant attachments with the aim of thorough fulfillment of one of four basic aims of
Endowment Fund.
For the sake of completeness it is necessary to say that during 2012 – except the term of the call – other endowment
contributions that are specified in detail further in this report, were approved and subsequently paid out by the Mana­
ging Board.
5. Prague ETHNOFEST, Michnův palác, Prague, 9/26/2012
Musical caress were connected with the celebration of the fourth birthday of radio ETHNO and for the fourth time they
were dedicated to our Endowment Fund to raise public awareness. Celebration was organized for the first time in
the open air. Ethnofest was devoted to blues and funky. This year, the event was connected for the first time with the
festival Ethnica Poetica. Thanks to this connection, we could see performance of Argentinian poets, Arabic groups,
a Polish chanson singer and others.
It was a unique multicultural event that brought together the whole world regardless of ethnic membership.
Vernissage of the Exposition Cesta za duhou (Way to the Rainbow)
HUB, Prague, 11/12/2012
10th anniversary exposition of multiple sclerosis patients works took place from 11/12 to 11/30/2012. There were
to see jewels, photographs, paintings, statues and graphics. This traditional exposition was held under the auspices
of the deputy of the Czech Parliament Lenka Kohoutová. Endowment Fund IMPULS was one of the partners of this
unique project.

News Box – Presentation Material of the Endowment Fund IMPULS
News box is a presentation material with current information on multiple sclerosis and on Endowment Fund IMPULS.
This box is meant for lay public. It has an interesting form of a paper toy. Considering its future use, it has been translated in English and issued in 500 pieces.
Educational Activity
The presence of Czech neurologists specialized in cerebrospinal multiple sclerosis on some world congresses, was
supported within the frame of educational activity. The reason for support from the Endowment Fund IMPULS was the
transmission of new findings of the world research and their application in the Czech environment.
Within the frame of educational activity, Endowment Fund IMPULS issued a booklet about standards regarding treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica. This publication was distributed gratis in all the specialized centers in the Czech Republic in order to guarantee its availability for our patients.
Project ReMuS
In November 2012, started a unique project called ReMuS – statewide Register of Patients with Multiple Sclerosis. Contrary to other expensive diseases, MS patients did not have their register until now. There was no register
that would provide data required by specialists. Some officers complain about the lack of these data. After a few
years of theoretical phases we continue with the practical phase. Register Multiple Sclerosis comes into existence in
­cooperation with Section for neuroimmunology and Liquorology of the Czech Medical Association of J.E. Purkyně,
expert guarantee of the project. The main aim of the project is to determine the actual number of patients with this
diagnose. According to estimates, they are between 17,000 – 19,000.
Because the data concerned are sensitive, they will be protected according to the Czech legal enactment for protection of personal data. Participation in the project is free decision and free of charge and it is based on the informed
consent of the patient.
Secondary goals are digital processing of documents, determining of incidence of the disease, cost of treatment and
its effectiveness, ability to work of patients, gaining of epidemiological data, gaining of data for payers of healthcare
and other institutions in order to enable them to plan financial means for treatment. Data should serve for scientific
­research purposes and enable us to discover causes of multiple sclerosis.
Patients who receive biological treatment of multiple sclerosis in specialized centers, will be included in the two-year
pilot phase. Budget for the first two years, amounts to nearly CZK 9 billion. This is the biggest project in the history of
our Endowment Fund.
In the following phases, the collection of data from patients on other type of treatment in specialized centers will take
place. Finally, the collection of data will follow in the rest of institutions throughout the Czech Republic.
This project, both in its volume and duration, will last for decades. The World Health Organization has already been
supporting similar registers for a few years. In 2012, the European Parliament issued a declaration on national registers
of patients with multiple sclerosis. It encouraged states to support the creation of such registers. It is a unique situation
in the Czech Republic where such a register is coming into existence thanks to endowment funding.

Independent auditor’s opinion on the financial statements as at December 31, 2012, to founders of the
endowment fund IMPULS, Endowment Fund.
We have audited the enclosed financial statements as at December 31, 2012, which comprise the Balance Sheet,
Profit and Loss Account, and notes to these financial statements including the description of significant
accounting methods used, and other explanatory information, in accordance with the Act on Auditors,
International Standards on Auditing and related application clauses issued by the Czech Republic’s Chamber of
Auditors. In accordance with these regulations, we are obliged to observe the ethical requirements and plan and
carry out the audit in such a way that we are reasonably sure that the financial statements do not contain
significant inaccuracies.
The audit includes performing auditing procedures to obtain evidence on amounts and data published in the
financial statements. The selection of procedures depends on the auditor’s judgment, which also includes
assessment of the risks that the financial statements contain substantial (material) inaccuracies caused by fraud or
error. When assessing these risks, the auditor shall take into account internal controls that are relevant for the
compilation of financial statements providing a true and fair view. The aim of this assessment is to propose
suitable auditing procedures and not to express an opinion on the effectiveness of the internal controls. The audit
also includes an assessment of the appropriateness of the accounting methods used, the soundness of the
accounting estimates made by the management of the Endowment Fund, and evaluation of the general
presentation of the financial statements.
The statutory body of the Endowment Fund is responsible for the preparation of the financial statements that
provide a true and fair view in accordance with the Czech accounting principles, and for such internal control
system that is considered as necessary for the preparation of the financial statements so that they do not contain
any significant (material) inaccuracies caused by fraud or error.
We believe that the evidence obtained provides a sufficient and appropriate basis for stating our opinion.
In our opinion, the annual financial statements provide a true and fair view of assets and liabilities of the
IMPULS, Endowment Fund as at December 31, 2012, and of the expenses, revenues and economic result in
the accounting period from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012, in accordance with the Czech Act on
Accounting and the relevant regulations applicable in the Czech Republic.
The Endowment Funds annual report for the accounting period 2012 had not been submitted by the date of issue
of the auditor’s report. Annual report will be examined separately after submission, and a separate auditor’s
report will be issued.

Supervisory Board’s Report 2012
Endowment Fund IMPULS
IMPULS, Endowment Fund, was founded by an agreement between founders and came into being on
April 6, 2000, when it was registered in the Endowment Register, ection N, insert 325 by the Prague City
Court.
The report is focused on Supervisory Board‘s monitoring activities and the result of financial statements
2012.
In 2012, Supervisory Board ensured duties assigned to it by law, and by the Statute of Endowment Fund
IMPULS.
The Board supervised the performance of Managing Board, controlled accounting records and other
financial evidence of the Endowment Fund IMPULS. It evaluated the management and control system
effectiveness and assessed it on a regular basis.
After reviewing financial statements for the period from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2012,
Supervisory Board, basing on auditor’s opinion, stated that accounting records and evidence had been kept
in a conclusive way and comply with generally binding regulations on bookkeeping.
The accounting records and evidence depict all important aspects of the financial position of the
Endowment Fund IMPULS. Financial statements drawn up on the basis of these accounting records provide
a true and honest picture of the Fund’s accounting and financial position.
The auditor of the company audited the fund’s financial statements and expressed its opinion without
reservations.
Supervisory Board recommends that the Managing Board approves the financial statements 2012 as
proposed.

At the present, Supervisory Board has two members, it is necessary to co-opt or to elect the 3rd
member in order to enable the Supervisory Board to be fully functional.
Supervisory Board supervised the Managing Board in accordance with the Czech Commercial Code,
and the Statute of the Endowment Fund IMPULS. Supervisory Board did not find any deficiencies when
pursuing its control activity.
Based on ascertained facts and conclusions made, Supervisory Board recommends approval of the
financial statements and of the proposal of activity for the year 2012.

Financial Statements and Their Approval
Accounting of Endowment Fund IMPULS is kept in compliance with Act No. 563/1991 Coll. on Accounting, as
amended and executive measures related to it. Accounting book is kept by external accountant.
Income tax return was and will be declared in compliance with the Law of the Czech Republic.
In its session held on 15th April 2013, Managing Board of the Endowment Fund IMPULS:
1. Reviewed and approved the financial statements as at December 31, 2012
